Jake Mcelfresh from Front Porch Step

Raw, unfiltered, uncut. This conversation I had with Jake Mcelfresh, who plays under the moniker of Front Porch Step, is a person on the verge of something. I was really lucky to capture this moment and walked Jake through a lot of different topics like how to cope with loss, anxiety and religion. Nothing is off limits and I am glad that Jake was so open with me.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Nick Bogardus, ex-Thrice manager & Cross Of Christ Church

Nick Bogardus is an extremely old friend and has lived most of his life directly connected to his passions, music & God. He managed Thrice, under his management company called New Noise, from their infancy to their meteoric rise in the early 2000's and beyond. He then walked away from the music industry to pursue his relationship with God and now is the pastor of his own church here in Orange County, CA called Cross of Christ. A very reflective conversation that I am glad to bring to you.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Eddie Breckenridge from Thrice

Late one evening, myself and Eddie (the bassist of Thrice) sat down to discuss many things including anxiety, being focused on the music alone and his father's passing. Eddie and I have known each other for awhile so this was very free flowing and given the time of night, a bit wandering. We get to some pretty deep places and his outlook on creativity is inspiring.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Buddy Nielsen from Senses Fail

This is it. I never thought that this podcast would be a vehicle for such open and inspiring discussion, but here we are. Buddy Nielsen who is the vocalist for Senses Fail who for many years, was arguably one of the largest bands in the mid-aughts comes on the show to discuss his struggles. He opens up about his addictions, sexuality and the self-destructive behavior he inflicted on himself for years. He's never discussed these issues in a public form and it's incredible to hear the stories as well as the process of moving past that season in his life. I am extremely proud to bring this compelling conversation to you and thanks again to Buddy for wanting to share his story.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Calvin Philley from Xerxes - Episode 131

This week I was able to speak to the lead vocalist in the punk outfit, Xerxes. Calvin was more than willing to open up about his creative writing past, depression and anxiety that he suffers from. It's unlike most previous episodes as we dive in deep right away and I even get a little Dad like towards the end of the show. Dive in and enjoy! James Shotwell from Under The Gun Review & Haulix - Episode 130

Many apologies for the delay, the internet wasn't our friend this week. Fortunately, I have a very fun conversation with James Shotwell who runs the site, Under The Gun Review , as well as working for a great music industry service called Haulix. We get in depth with discussions on the Christian music scene, is multi-tasking really a good thing and how playing terrible music is actually good for you. James was a great sport and up for discussing anything.
