Andy Othling from Lowercase Noises

One of the more introspective and interesting conversations on the podcast I have ever had with Andy Othling from Lowercase Noises. He is a one man band from Albuquerque, New Mexico and his music is beautiful, haunting and trance inducing. After getting to know him a bit, I knew he’d be a great guest for the show and he did not disappoint. We speak in depth about solitude, computer science and the creative process. I urge you to listen to this episode as we go down roads that I think many people would be able to relate with. Thomas Pearson from Foundation

Episode 215 - Foundation was one of my favorite hardcore bands in recent years, so I was very much looking forward to speaking to Thomas Pearson, the vocalist of said band. We hopped on Skype one afternoon and had a great discussion about the Atlanta hardcore scene, the process of being a teacher and frankly, why independent music is the best. While I am sad the band is no longer, they left a great legacy in their recorded music. Listen and enjoy! Vinnie Caruana from The Movielife & I Am The Avalanche

Vinnie Caruana is my new best friend. We had such an awesome time chatting for the show I didn’t want to let him go at the end of our hour. He’s best known for being the singer of bands like The Movielife & I Am The Avalanche but also has an incredibly prolific solo output as well. We discussed Long Island hardcore, corporate songwriting and the early touring years of his life. As Vinnie states towards the end of the show, “Memory lane is a good place to visit”. Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage

Episode 211 - Jesse Leach has always fascinated me. As the singer of Killswitch Engage I found his lyrics to be positive and uplifting in ways that most metal bands didn’t embrace and I loved it. I hop in the bands tour bus and pick his brain about anxiety, showing your roots and ultimately finding comfort. It’s a very special conversation that I am pleased to bring you. Jasamine White-Gluz from No Joy

Episode 210 - No Joy! Sounds like a dour way to start a podcast but Jasamine White-Gluz from No Joy is on the show today. She is the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Montreal based indie rock band. As you can hear from the chat, her and I have known about each other for awhile but finally were able to connect for this great discussion. We dive into the French/Canadian music scene, alt-rock beginnings and what it’s like to manage models (!). A wide variety of topics that I am happy to bring you. Tom Williams from Stray From the Path

Episode 209 - It’s Tom Williams day on the pod! I speak to my old friend who plays guitar in the band Stray From the Path about many things including his early work ethic (and still today), why his band is so rooted in speaking about politics and politically charged issues as well as being professional and not coming off like a needy band when asking for help. It’s a really inspiring chat for a band that has been working for a long time to make an impact.SeatGeek is the best place to buy tickets online. Daryl Taberski from Snapcase

IT’S OUR 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! CELEBRATE! This week is very special for me as I bring on Daryl Taberski, the vocalist from Snapcase. They are one of my favorite bands of all time and I never would have had an excuse to talk to Daryl if it wasn’t for this podcast but we discuss many incredible things like the formation of the band, the days where the band was courted by major labels and the evolution of the bands sound. It’s a lengthy conversation but well worth your time. Please spread the word on this show and tell your friends about it. I want to make this one of the largest episodes in the shows history. Thanks for listening all of these years, I really appreciate all of you. Use our Amazon Affiliate Code to support the show! NBA Shootaround with Benny Horowitz (from The Gaslight Anthem)

Episode 207 - Basketball talk? On a music podcast? As part of my ongoing “friendversation” series I wanted to bring a recent guest back on the show to dive into one of my favorite sports, basketball. If you are looking for a discussion of independent music you will have to look elsewhere this week. Benny and I discuss how we both got into basketball, the current NBA playoffs, the upcoming draft and some quick “emotional response” questions I wanted to ask. I had a lot of fun with this and hope you enjoy this slight diversion from the norm. Next week, is our 4 year anniversary and I am incredibly excited about that. Have a good week!
