HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY TO THE PODCAST! It's wild to say, but this show has been around for 11 years and has changed my life but most importantly, I thank you the listener for caring about DIY culture, punk/hardcore/metal and everything in between...as long as it comes from small/sweaty rooms. My heart is in...well, you get it if you existed anywhere in the mid 2000's emo scene as Hawthorne Heights was INESCAPABLE during that time. I have the pleasure of hanging out with JT Woodruff from the band who plays guitar and is the lead singer. We have a very open and honest conversation about being corny adjacent (or sometimes, right on top of corny), playing late night shows and the legacy of the band as they enter their 20th year of playing together. JT is straight edge, loves hardcore and is such a nice dude so I was happy to get to know him a lot better during this and hope you do as well. Elated to share this conversation with Christina Ward who is the Vice President of Feral House Publishing and an author. They are one of the most prolific indie publishers around hitting subcultures all across the spectrum from black metal, satanism, psychedelics and so much more. I picked up the book Lords of Chaos many years ago and have since followed their publishing journey. Oh boy, this one has been on my "list" for awhile and glad we were able to make this happen. I have Wes Eisold from American Nightmare and Cold Cave chatting with us today. An often overlooked person within our whole music industry structure is the promoter/booker and I love to highlight people that create the spaces for us to watch bands, have an experience and connect. Dave Castillo books for an essential venue in the NYC area called Saint Vitus that you most likely have heard of (or seen a show at). The venue is memorializing their first 12 years in business with an amazing hardcover book (funded via Kickstarter) by Nathanial Shannon.
