It's in his DNA. His interest in music was nurtured by his father, a former band member of ‘Juju’ music legend ‘Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey’. He has earned great recognition among several excellent artists who quickly involved Gafacci in production sessions in and outside Africa. He is also the brain behind the Jowaa project, where he produced several popular tracks including #1 downloaded bass track on Juno in 2017 and toured around the world. He is now experimenting with non-fungible tokens as an NFT crypto artist releasing the first Ghanaian space exploration series starring "Nii" the red cockerel in collaboration with Ghana’s renowned satirical artist, Bright Ackwerh. In our conversation, Gafacci shares his journey through the world of cryptocurrencies to crypto art, his creation process and selection of platforms as well as some of the pitfalls. After starting her company Safe2Meet, a peer-to-peer identity verification platform, she sought investment in 2015. But over the course of her experience, she learned than less than 1 percent of venture funding goes to Black female founders. This realization, along with her struggle to secure funding, inspired Tavonia to create a product that specifically serves the interests of the Black community. So she started GUAP Coin in 2017 to help the community maintain wealth and encourage participation in the Black economy. But GUAP Coin isn’t just about financial prosperity. Tavonia understood early on how valuable data can be, and the role it can play in eliminating economic disparity. Arlan is the Founder and Managing Partner of Backstage Capital, a venture capital firm dedicated to minimizing funding disparities in tech by investing in high-potential founders who are people of color, women, and/or LGBT. Started from scratch in 2015, Backstage has now raised more than $12 million and invested in more than 150 startup companies led by underestimated founders. In 2018, they launched a four-city accelerator program in Los Angeles, Detroit, Philadelphia, and London. Arlan has been featured on the cover of Fast Company magazine as the first Black woman non-celebrity to do so, and is the author of “It’s About Damn Time” and host of the weekly podcast “Your First Million”.
