They say a person can really feel happy IF they help another person "for free"!! I think that's true--for most people!! Well, today's expression is kind of that like. Sometimes the people around us NEED some help in order to get something--a new job, a good project, a chance to go somewhere--and WE have the power to possible help that person. Just recently one of my students asked me to recommend him to a university in the UK. I was happy to do that--he was a great student. And, fortunately, he was accepted!! YAY!! A lot of people study a language--English--and they learn a lot...but they get to a point where the learning almost stops. Some people struggle for more, some people give up. The listening doesn't improve. There are always TOO MANY new words and phrases. Pronunciation seems to get MORE difficult. Well, you need to "TODAY'S EXPRESSION" your ability and understand you might need help! I studied the Korean language by myself for about three years and Korean people were really amazed at my ability...but my ability did NOT improve after that. Today's expression...well, be careful! I'm giving you three WAYS to say the same thing...one of the ways uses a "bad" word. I prefer you use the "foot" version!!! But more than using the expression, you will probably HEAR the expression or READ the expression much more. And it is a GREAT expression. When someone says something that YOU do NOT believe...we use this expression! When I was young, I was in GOOD shape. I didn't have HUGE muscles, but I was strong and thin and fast. I was a triathlete. Then...I slowly...got bigger and more and more unhealthy. Now I'm getting old SO I have decided to work on my health. And the number one priority--GETTING RID of my fat. I have extra weight around my tummy...I am a TODAY'S EXPRESSION! Today we learn a fun word--we USUALLY use it as a joke, but remember, some people might NOT like the word. I don't mind. It's true!
