In 1997, John co-founded the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the direct service legal needs of Asian Pacific Americans in the D.C. metropolitan area. He served as chair of the Asian American Justice Center (former name of Advancing Justice | AAJC) after serving as treasurer of the organization and as a member of its National Advisory Council. Frank Chi, filmmaker, artist, and storyteller, joins Dear Asian Americans to talk about his new documentary, 38 at the Garden, a story that’s both about Jeremy Lin’s meteoric rise in the NBA in early 2012 and the impact it had on the Asian American community at large. Frank shares about his own origin story immigrating from China, the impact movies had on his childhood, and how he came to be a filmmaker.
