07: The importance of defining your ONE thing

Are you a multi-passionate person, who loves to learn, you have many interests, and you struggle to define who you are and how you can support people in one succinct statement?Yeah – me too. I struggled with that for YEARS.In fact, if you’ve followed me for a minute – you'd have heard me share before how as multi - passionate individuals who LOVE learning, we need to be mindful NOT to let our diverse interests - water down our message.Because focusing on too many things – without a clear and compelling outcome (which speaks to the outcome our ideal client seeks) will mean our message gets lost in the noise. One of the ways I watered down my message years ago was when I started speaking about social media to business groups. They’d heard about the success my co - host and I were having with leveraging social media to promote our podcast, so wanted me to share all of our secrets. I was happy too. However, what invertedly happened was that my core message of Personal Branding was watered down, as I spoke more about social media.Until one of my close colleagues hired a personal brand strategist, after completely forgetting that I could have helped her. That was a HUGE wake-up call for me. And, led me to become far more mindful of and strategic about what I spoke about and how I positioned my message.I wonder – when it comes to YOUR message... are you building your reputation as a go-to authority in your area of expertise? Or like me all those years ago, you’re watering down your message because of the vast topics you speak about? In today’s tip, I want you to check back over the last 10 pieces of content you shared across your social media platforms, your blog, your podcast and ask yourself – are these aligned to a clear and concise message that positions me as distinguishable, uncopyable and irresistible in a clear area of expertise so I’m building my reputation as a trusted authority in a key area? Or not? If not, you need to make a decision as to how you’re going to refine your ONE thing, which you want to become known for. What is it that the combination of your experience, knowledge, and certifications will enable you to support YOUR ideal client to achieve their goals/outcomes? For me, it was helping clients stand out, be heard, and become influential voices in their industry. The trusted authority. THE choice vs just a choice for their ideal client.YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? 06: The Distinction Triad

In yesterday’s tip I shared what it means to be distinguishable and that it was NOT tooting your own trumpet and saying how wonderful you are and better than everyone and anyone else in your industry. But rather it’s about highlight areas that speaks directly to your ideal client and positions you being better-placed to serve and support them in achieving their goals and desired outcomes. And the areas that can help you do that is in today’s tip – The Distinction Triad. I can up with the Distinction Triad after working with a client and helped her put together her personal marketing document – her resume. She started her career working as an Office Admin and over the years had become a Change Management Consultant overseeing multimillion dollar IT change projects for semi-government organisations.  She had gone from strength to strength and as I wrote her achievement statements and reviewed her career I identified three distinct areas that she had continuously brought to the workplace that had seen her go from strength to strength and it’s something we can all use, whether we’re an executive working in corporate – or an entrepreneur working in our own business. The three things are Aptitude, Attitude and Approach.  I'll talk about Aptitude a little further today, however, make sure you download the Declaration and Take Action Guide at www.IndustryThoughtLeaderAcademy.com/Distinction so you can begin to work on all three.  Let’s talk about Aptitude. Your Aptitude is your Talent. Your strengths, your skills and your knowledge.   Attitude if your character, mindset, belief and frame of mind.  And, your approach is your Style, your temperament, how you react to specific situations and your sensibility.  Each of these are important and when blended together can be powerful in becoming distinguishable, uncopyable and irresistible.  How clear are you on your Aptitude, your Attitude and Approach? Can you define them? And, are you leveraging them to distinguish how you are better-served to support your ideal client?   YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? 05: Being Distinguishable – what it is and is NOT

Being Distinguishable – what it is and what it is NOT.  Let’s start with what it is NOT.  Being distinguishable is NOT thinking and acting as if you’re all that. In fact, it has nothing to do with being better or greater than anyone or everyone else. I Being distinguishable is not about saying how wonderful you are, and big noting yourself, tooting your own horn.  In fact, it has nothing to do with feeding your ego at all.  Being distinguishable is about pointing out key areas that you know is going to stand out from the noise, capture the attention of your ideal client, because it resonates with them. In fact, I have a saying: Being Distinguishable is NOT you’re better than everyone else, but rather how you’re better placed to support your ideal client. Being distinguishable is about how you are unique and can demonstrate how your skills, knowledge, experience, achievements etc are distinguishable are set apart from others in your industry and best able to support your ideal client in overcoming the challenges that are keeping them stuck and achieving the outcomes they want to achieve.  It’s not about being better – but being better-placed to support your ideal client and validating that through the content and message you share. Tomorrow's tip #6 is where I share The Distinction Triad and the areas you can bring into your content and message you share to show your ideal client how you are distinguishable and better-placed to support them. See you tomorrow. YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? Do you feel unnoticed, unheard, invisible?  Access my free Masterclass, on how to become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible to your ideal client – even if you’re in a crowded marketplace. Go to: www.IndustryThoughtleaderAcademy.com/DistinguishableMessage The post 05: Days To Distinction for Coaches and Consultants appeared first on The Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast Network.
