After graduating, Purcell became a skills trainer/coach with the National Basketball Academy in Cleveland, OH. In 2009, when the Academy began a business relationship with the then-New Orleans Hornets, Purcell was selected to run the operation in Louisiana.While at The Academy, Dan grew the program into the largest in the state. Notable players during his tenure at the Academy were Terry Rozier (CHA), Jared Butler (UTAH), and Thon Maker (MIL, CHI). Four years later, he was hired as the Hornets Basketball Operations Assistant. After a successful stint, he was promoted to Basketball Operations Manager.

Sacrificing For Your Future with Nick Lagios

From there he scored a job with the South Bay Lakers as a Basketball Operations Coordinator and then later transitioned to be the Director of Basketball Operations and Player Development. After working for South Bay for nearly six years, Nick earned a job as Basketball Development Coordinator for the Lakers, up until his new position as a GM.
