In Conversation with Matilda Boseley

Hello Lovelies,Today Em sits down with award-winning social media reporter and presenter for Guardian Australia, Matilda Boseley. You may recognise Matilda from her hugely successful short form news explainers she creates on TikTok, she’s now also the creator of her new book ‘The Year I Met My Brain’ which is described as a travel companion for adults who’ve just found out they have ADHD. Kardashian Nipple Bras, Britney’s Burn Book & Michael’s Birthday

Em is in Sydney, Michael’s in Melbourne, but that hasn’t stopped them from connecting up to deliver this episode for you. After lamenting the fact that their executive producer Benjamin isn’t in the room to add to the background giggles, it's straight into Em’s latest obsession, looking at the brand new Kim Kardashian nipple bra. It actually comes with nipples built into the bra, so you can ALWAYS present yourself headlights ON! Then it’s time for Em and Michael to give their reviews on the brand new Britney Spears book ‘The Woman In Me’ which they both inhaled over the weekend. Finally, we need to reflect the fact it’s Michael’s 45th birthday when this episode drops. Em is approaching the same age and has decided she’s keen to get herself into a routine of gentle good stuff, swishy pants and ski poles, which probably sounds weird in print, but totes makes sense when you hear it. Chaka & Taylor & Britney, Oh My!

We start this episode with a thorough deep dive into Em’s night out with her dad Vincie at the Nile Rodgers, Chic and Chaka Khan concert. We balance that out with Michael’s review of attending the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie. Obviously because Michael and Em aren’t proper Swifties, we do drag our cameraman and devoted in-house Swiftie, James up to the mic to correct and critique any mistakes we make. Then we focus on the soft focus that seems to glide across the face of Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon whenever they appear in shot on the TV series ‘Morning Wars/The Morning Show’. Plus they’ve been offering up some superb and steamy age appropriate sex scenes between Jen and Mad Men’s Jon Hamm recently too. Finally it’s Britney book drop day, but will Em’s audio copy arrive in time for us to reflect it in this episode, you’ll just have to listen to find out. Learn more about your ad choices. It’s Time We Talk About The Hard Thing

First up we need to talk about the result of the Voice Referendum, after the country resoundingly decided that First Nations people apparently don’t deserve constitutional recognition and sadly, mostly voted ‘NO’. After that disappointing result, it’s on to the news that excerpts have started dropping from Britney Jean Spears upcoming tell all book, ‘The Woman In Me’. Thankfully, Em isn’t scared to go all method and usher in Britney herself so she can read the quotes for us in her naturally thick Southern slash Steel Magnolias M’Lynn accent, because AS IF she wouldn’t! Then Em reveals her latest hyper-fixation involving sharp blades and sticky vinyl, which is swiftly followed by the story of how Em found herself at a local play where the premise revolved around a small country town turning into a giant gay porn shoot. Lastly, Michael teases his hubby Adrian’s new story as part of an erotic anthology series coming soon to SBS. We wrap things up with a full debrief on Madonna finally hitting the stage for her recently postponed greatest hits tour and Taylor Swift’s concert movie finally being released too. It’s a Lot.

There’s a LOT going on right now so we’re taking the “let’s just stick to what we do” angle and offering up our thoughts on the brand new Netflix 4-part doco series ‘Beckham’ which covers off the career and life of David Beckham. We also get an update from Michael on the next “big” event coming from his former employer, Baz Luhrmann. That also means we get to hear some of the goss from Michael’s first job, including what it was like working from the home of Baz and Catherine, answering phone calls from Madonna, and hanging out around Leonardo Dicaprio memorabilia. There’s also the news that the Christina Aguilera, Cher movie ‘Burlesque’ is being turned into a musical to process. Plus the first live show of Madonna’s postponed tour is almost here, so Em and Michael reflect on what could have been, what will happen when someone drops the concert on YouTube, and even how Em’s feeling in her waters on if the tour will even go ahead at all.
