Want to watch the show instead? Find it below, Like & Subscribe!https://youtube.com/live/WRZ1xe98ITkAndy and Yahoo!'s Dan Wetzel discuss the news Dan broke Wednesday that a group of Big Ten presidents is evaluating possible further westward expansion that could include Cal, Oregon, Stanford and Washington. Meanwhile, the Pac-12 awaits decisions from Arizona and Arizona State. Andy and Dan also talk about Florida State president Rick McCullough's declaration Wednesday that the Seminoles should look to leave the ACC. Does Florida State have a plan to get out of the ACC? Would the Big Ten or SEC take the Seminoles. (0:00-27:17)We return to actual football talk with an interview with Kansas State guard Cooper Beebe, who might be the best interior lineman in college football. (27:18-44:40)Later, Andy talks Oregon with Scoopduck publisher Justin Hopkins. Will Pac-12 members bite on Apple? | Is Florida State ready to try to leave the ACC?Want to watch the show? Visit our Youtube Page!https://youtube.com/live/aZV3z_gkU8gAndy and Ralph Russo of The Associated Press discuss Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff's proposed media rights deal. It's reportedly with Apple, and it would require a separate streaming subscription. Is that enough to keep the league together, or might Arizona (and others) consider leaving. (0:00-17:10)Also, Iowa State QB Hunter Dekkers has been charged in a gambling probe. We're going to see more of this, but this is the highest profile player yet. (17:11-23:59)Warchant's Jeff Cameron joins Andy to discuss Florida State's place in realignment. FSU board chair Peter Collins had some very interesting thoughts in a Tuesday night interview with Warchant. One of those? Uneven revenue sharing in the ACC won't be enough. (49:26-1:04:18)Andy's Extra Point is a wish for good health for Julie Venables. The wife of Oklahoma coach Brent Venables was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and just underwent surgery. The Next Realignment Domino? Arizona? Oregon? | Penn State OT Olu Fashanu | Sleeping on Miami?
Andy and On3 national writer Jesse Simonton debate the next possible move in realignment. Is the Pac-12 going to add a school (or more)? Will Arizona follow Colorado to the Big 12? What about Oregon and Washington? Could the ACC be a factor in any of this? (0:00-24:20)Penn State offensive tackle Ole Fashanu joins the show. Fashanu probably would have been one of the first tackles off the board in this year’s NFL draft, but he explains why he wanted to come back to Penn State for one more season. If he plays well, he could be the first offensive lineman taken in next year’s draft. (24:20-32:26)Miami donor John RUiz has gotten himself into a weird situation and Andy and Jesse discuss (32:26-37:24)John Canzano (The Bald-Faced Truth radio show, JohnCanzano.com, Canzano and Wilner Podcast) joins to explain just how the Pac-12 got itself into this mess. (37:25-59:16)Andy and Jesse offer their takeaways from all the conference media days. Andy has thoughts on Miami and Charlotte. Jesse has thoughts on Oregon and West Virginia. (59:17-01:11:54)In Andy’s extra point, we learn if producer River Bailey followed Penn State coach James Franklin’s advice. (01:11:55-01:16:31) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Colorado heads to the Big 12! Who is coming with the Buffs? | Harbaugh mum on NCAA
Go to birddogs.com/Andy or enter Promo Code: Andy for a free tech hat with your order.0:00 - 18:28 Colorado voted Thursday to leave the Pac-12 and re-join the Big 12. Andy and On3 national writer Pete Nakos discussed what might be next for the Big 12’s expansion plans. Arizona? Connecticut? Or could Oregon, Washington or Utah want to move and trigger a Pac-12 collapse? Can the Pac-12 snap up San Diego State or SMU and get its media rights deal done before losing anyone else? It’s time to speculate wildly…19:54 - 29:03 Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wouldn’t talk about the proposed four-game suspension that would close an NCAA case against him, but it was clear Harbaugh wanted to say more. Will he push back? Or will he ultimately accept the penalty to keep the wheels moving for what could be a very successful season?29:23 - 37:58 Michigan DB Mike Sainristil takes Andy second-by-second through his breakup of what probably should have been a touchdown pass to Ohio State tight end Cade Stover. It was Andy’s favorite play of the 2022 season, and Sainristil’s description makes it even cooler.37:59 - 44:03 Jeff Sims never imagined as kid in Jacksonville, Fla., that he’d be advertising John Deere dealerships in Nebraska. But that’s what the Georgia Tech transfer is doing as the new QB1 at Nebraska.44:04 - 49:58 New head coach Luke Fickell is changing a lot at Wisconsin. But he doesn’t think the Badgers will be so shockingly different on the field.50:00 - 57:35 Maryland coach Mike Locksley spent 14 hours in a Caribbean airport and learned a lesson in the process. He explained how he has passed that along to his staff heading into the season.57:36 - 59:06 In today’s Extra Point, Andy discusses another full-circle moment as former Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt — whom most of us met as a high school coach on MTV’s “Two-A-Days” — takes a job as a high school P.E. teacher in Alabama. Colorado to the Big 12? | Can Ohio State retake the Big Ten? | Is Penn State the wildcard?
Andy and On3 national writer Pete Nakos let their imaginations run wild as reports emerge suggesting Colorado may be on the verge of a move to the Big 12? If Colorado goes, who else could be coming? What would happen in the Pac-12? (0:00-9:40)Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports and The Athletic joined to talk about Ohio State’s quest to reclaim the Big Ten title and the odd dynamics of going from losing to Michigan to being a play away from the national title game. Bruce and Andy also delve into what Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh might say when he takes the stage at Big Ten media days on Thursday. (9:41-21:31)Ohio State edge rusher J.T. Tuimoloau and tight end Cade Stover visited the set to explain how bad that Peach Bowl loss to Georgia still burns. J.T., who fell in love with football as a child attending a free camp put on by Russell Wilson and other Seahawks players, talked about now being the guy putting on the camp for middle schoolers. Cade, meanwhile, explained what his life was like on the family farm in Mansfield, Ohio. He also discussed why he’ll be back working that farm when he’s done playing football. (21:32-30:08)Later, Penn State coach James Franklin discussed why he told OluFashanu to go pro and why he understood Fashanu’s decision to return. Franklin also compared and contrasted the skill sets of current Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and former Nittany Lion Micah Parsons. Franklin then explained why he was glad quarterback Drew Allar got experience in 2022 without having to be thrust into the starting role. (30:09-36:07)Michigan State coach Mel Tucker talked about the difficulty of last season and how the transfer portal giveth and taketh away. Tucker also explained how he believes the Spartans can get better quickly in 2023. (36:08-48:48)Spencer Holbrook of LettermenRow.com joined to talk more Buckeyes and Wolverines. How does the potential Harbaugh suspension sit with Ohio State fans who saw a successful coach fired because of a similar case? Also, what does Marvin Harrison Jr. have to do to win the Heisman? (48:49-1:05:16)Andy’s Extra Point remembers the sitcom-plot efforts of Dan Beebe to save the Big 12 as on yet another potential round of realignment…(1:05:16-1:07:30) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Dear Andy: Is Nick Saban making excuses? Can a Group of 5 team make the CFP in 2023? Do the Big Ten and the SEC need the other conferences in the 12-team playoff?
It's a Dear Andy episode, so we're answering your questions. But first, we discuss Georgia landing a commitment from Justin Williams, the No. 1 linebacker prospect in the class of 2024. (0:00-5:55).Then Jesse and Andy talk about a new lawsuit filed in the Northwestern situation. That lawsuit names former Northwestern AD Jim Phillips, who will be meeting the media Tuesday as the ACC commissioner kicking off ACC media days. (5:56-15:00).The ACC's media days also will feature football questions, and Andy and Jesse try to handicap who will face the toughest ones. Miami's Mario Cristobal? N.C. State's Dave Doeren? (15:01-20:15)Now on to your questions...-- A listener asks to keep score all season on Andy and Jesse's quarterback draft teams (and they heartily agree). (20:16-23:43)-- Is Nick Saban making more excuses than he did before? (23:44-30:15)-- Do the Big Ten and SEC need the other conferences once the 12-team playoff begins? (30:16-38:08)-- Can a Group of 5 team make the CFP this season? If not, which Group of 5 team will make a New Years Six bowl? (38:09-45:18)-- Who will be the first player to get audited by the IRS? (45:19-52:24)-- How long until we see a clear Cinderella winner in the 12-team CFP? (52:25-1:00:12)In Andy's Extra Point, he bids farewell to a college football institution that will be missing this season. (1:00:12-1:01:59) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The QB Draft! USC's Caleb Williams and then who? | Pac-12 asks us to focus on football | ACC Preview
Andy and Jesse Simonton review George Kliavkoff’s explanation at Pac-12 media day that the league wasn’t announcing a media rights deal so that the focus would remain on football. That, of course, led to a logical question about whether the media rights deal was done. (Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.) We then honor Kliavkoff’s request to talk about football by examining USC coach Lincoln Riley’s assertion that he and the Trojans have a responsibility to the west coast to be nationally relevant. He’s not wrong, but that assertion should seriously tick off Oregon, Washington and the others staying in the Pac-12. (0:00-23:57)Next up is the main event, the 2023 Quarterback Draft. Andy and Jesse each get 10 picks from a group that is loaded on the west coast and full of question marks at some of the bigger programs in the east. Who will pick the better group? (23:58-1:01:42)Later, Joe Ovies (Ovies + Giglio) joins Andy to preview ACC Kickoff. Joe had a fascinating interview with North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham last week that laid out how difficult it would be to challenge the ACC’s Grant of Rights. Joe explains where the seven schools that have complained about the league’s revenue sharing really stand. He also talks about Clemson’s chances of re-establishing its dominance, Florida State’s rise and the potential of North Carolina with Drake Maye back at QB. (1:01:43-1:22:50)Andy’s Extra Point is a call for questions for Monday night’s Dear Andy show. It’ll be another live show, and we want everyone — those watching live and those watching/listening on demand — to have a chance to get their questions answered. (1:22:51-1:25:38) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
