Which SEC quarterback has the most AURA?
Florida quarterback D.J. Lagway his best attribute as a QB is his aura, and that got Andy and Ari thinking: Which SEC QB has the MOST aura? Between Lagway and Oklahoma’s John Mateer, there was a ton of aura walking around SEC media days Wednesday. But the league is loaded with QBs who ooze aura. LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers, Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia.(0:00-4:17) Intro: Eliah Drinkwitz kicks us off(4:18-10:40) Which SEC QB has the most aura?(10:41-16:02) Naming SEC QBs(16:03-17:50) Presidents with Aura(17:51-27:47) Closing out SEC QBs: Arch Manning, Joey Aguilar(27:48-34:14) Qbs across the country(34:15-50:50) UNC flips 4-Star from Ohio(50:51-54:10) When do you write?(54:11-1:04:00) Dave Portnoy to Big Noon?(1:04:01-1:10:04) Dabo confuses Brian Kelly with a singer(1:10:05-1:10:56) Conclusion: Dear Andy & Ari tomorrow! So who has the most? Also, North Carolina has flipped a 2026 Ohio State commitment from Ohio. What does this say about recruiting in the NIL era? And how much fun is it that Bill Belichick is now in the thick of big-time recruiting? Plus, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is in talks to join Fox’s Big Noon Saturday. Is this Fox’s answer to Pat McAfee, and will Urban Meyer attempt to strangle the VERY outspoken Michigan Man on the set? UNDER PRESSURE: Does Auburn's Hugh Freeze or Oklahoma's Brent Venables face more?
Ari has unveiled his list of the coaches under the most pressure this season, and the three guys at the top are in Atlanta this week for SEC media days.(0:00-0:30) Intro(0:31-22:40) Ari's 10 coaches under most pressure(22:41-30:41) How good can Auburn be?(30:42-35:54) How much pressure is on Brent Venables(35:55-39:40) Sarkisian walks out to A&M War Hymn(39:41-41:10) Big Recruiting Day for Texas(41:11-51:49) Arch Manning takes over SEC media days(51:50-57:24) Sir Paul Cheeks commits to West Virginia(57:25-1:10:05) What would an executive order on NIL look like?(1:10:06-1:11:18) Conclusion: Dear Andy & Ari on Friday! Auburn’s Hugh Freeze sounded on Tuesday like a guy who understands the assignment, which is a shift from some of his comments earlier this year. He knows he needs to win with a roster that is better than Auburn has had in a long time. Wednesday, Oklahoma’s Brent Venables and Florida’s Billy Napier take the stage. Venables is probably under the most pressure. Napier lived through it last season, but he still has to show more improvement. Also, Arch Manning took media days by storm. OK, not really. He gave nice, polite answers and Andy is waiting for the more unfiltered stuff from Omaha productions. Late Tuesday, CBS News reported that President Donald Trump intends to sign an executive order related to college sports “in the coming days.” What does that mean? And what might that look like? Lane Kiffin STIRS IT UP at SEC Media Days
The best version of Lane Kiffin is the one who is funny without even trying to be, and that Kiffin showed up in Atlanta for SEC media days.(0:00-1:27) Intro: SEC Media Days, Day 1(1:28-20:02) What all Lane Kiffin said at SEC Media Days(20:03-30:11) Would Nick Saban come back to College Football?(30:12-40:43) Will LSU knock off Clemson week 1?(40:44-44:30) Best Tailgate Foods(44:31-49:36) Ari and the new video game(49:37-1:01:38) Netflix releases new trailer for SEC documentary(1:01:39-1:11:54) Andy's Top 10 Big Ten QBs(1:11:55-1:14:22) Sneaky Week 1 Matchups(1:14:23-1:20:00) Ari and Ticketmaster(1:20:01-1:21:00) Conclusion: See you tomorrow! The Ole Miss coach complimented Auburn coach Hugh Freeze’s golf game and stoked the fire of the idea of a Nick Saban return to coaching. Meanwhile, LSU coach Brian Kelly talked about the pressure on the Tigers to win at Clemson in week one. Andy released his top 10 Big Ten QBs, and Ari has some critiques of the list. Plus, Netflix is releasing a documentary series on SEC football, and we're in it! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Who is the best QB in the SEC?
This week, the SEC takes center stage with its media days, and Andy and Ari will celebrate day one by arguing about quarterbacks.(0:00-2:49) Intro: Day 1 of SEC Media Days(2:50-13:40) Andy's Top 10 SEC Qb's(13:41-25:00) Is DJ Lagway REALLY the top QB?(25:01-33:37) Where do Bama and Georgia's QB stack?(33:38-37:22) Arch at Texas(37:23-39:11) Previewing Big Ten QB(39:12-44:52) Ari's column on Big 12's position on CFP(44:53-47:19) What did Greg Sankey say at the podium?(47:20-57:17) House v NCAA settlement(57:18-1:04:49) Headlines ahead of Media Days(1:04:50-1:13:36) Conclusion: Joint birthday parties, Auburn @ Oklahoma Andy dropped his top 10 SEC quarterbacks at On3 on Monday morning. What did he get right? What did he get wrong? Plus, the guys preview what questions they want to hear asked at SEC media days. Also, the schools’ attempt to control third-party NIL deals barely lasted two weeks before the House v. NCAA plaintiffs attorneys threatened to drag the conferences back into court. Mike Gundy: 'This portal class from January is the first class that we ever bought.'
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy joins the show, and he’s not holding back.(0:00-2:33) Intro: Previewing Mike Gundy(2:34-17:43) Mike Gundy joins the show(17:44-18:52) Mike Gundy's rules for life(18:53-30:20) Discussion on Oklahoma State, Big 12(30:21-35:44) Do you lock your door?(35:45-50:39) New QBs you have most confidence/questions in(50:40-54:50) Sleeper G5 CFP teams(54:51-1:02:46) Baylor's Outlook with Dave Aranda(1:02:47-1:05:06) Emo Accent Deep Dive(1:05:07-1:31:38) Random Ranking: Songs You're Embarrassed That You Love(1:31:39-1:34:37) Conclusion: THANK YOU! Gundy explains why he thinks college football needs a collective bargaining agreement. He also makes some recommendations for a commissioner of the sport. He also offers a shocking — or maybe not-so-shocking — reason for Oklahoma State’s fall from 10 wins in 2023 to three wins in 2024. The Cowboys didn’t spend any money on transfer players before last season. Gundy said that has changed this season and Oklahoma State is operating more like the other teams in the Big 12. It’s also a Dear Andy/Dear Ari day, and you’ve asked some excellent questions. Which new starting QB are you most confident in? Who are some sleeper Group of 5 playoff contenders? Plus, The Random Ranking is in honor of Utah Spencer Fano’s rendition of Secondhand Serenade’s Fall For You at Big 12 media days. What are the five songs you’re most embarrassed to love? The BILLIONAIRE who wants to save college sports — and turn his alma mater into a power
Andy and Ari welcome their first billionaire to the show!(0:00-2:25) Intro: Big 12 Takeaways(2:26-13:14) Deion Sanders and "bulljunk"(13:15-34:02) Cody Campbell joins the show(34:03-39:15) Cody Campbell's impact(39:16-51:25) The message Colorado sent at media days(51:26-1:00:45) Is Utah a Big 12 contender?(1:00:46-1:02:10) Conclusion: Dear Andy & Ari tomorrow! Cody Campbell, the former Texas Tech offensive linemen who made his fortune in oil and gas — and who probably inspired two characters in the hit show Landman — joins to discuss his efforts to help his alma mater become a national title contender and his effort to reform college sports. These two things seem to be at odds with one another, and Cody explains that they are. He’d like to create a system that shuts down any potential super league and keeps all the current FBS schools supported, and he has an idea he thinks would make all of them more money. But in the meantime, he’s using the rules — or lack thereof — in the current system to help the Red Raiders fund a massive roster upgrade. Also, the boys didn’t get Deion Sanders on the show, but Ari talked to Colorado freshman QB Julian Lewis. Sanders brought Lewis, a highly touted freshman, and senior Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter to media days. It’s an unusual move, but Ari explains why it fits the vibe of the program. Can the Big 12 create national title contenders?
Andy and Ari are back at Big 12 media days, and they’re talking about how much has changed in two years.(0:00-1:39) Intro: Day 2 of Big 12 Media Days(1:40-8:38) How far has the Big 12 come in 2 years?(8:39-12:33) Overview of the conference entering 2025(12:34-15:27) BYU's Outlook(15:28-21:47) Other competitors in the Big 12(21:48-26:28) Big 12 in the CFP discussion(26:29-36:01) Texas Tech HC Joey McGuire joins(36:02-41:26) Colorado at Media Days(41:27-43:42) Conclusion: Ari & Pop-Tarts Two years ago, Texas and Oklahoma were leaving and Ari was asking Brett Yormark if this was about to become a Group of 5 league. Now the league feels strong and stable. But the next step is creating national title contenders. How does that happen, and which schools are the best candidates to become those kinds of programs? Later, the guys talk to Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire about the Red Raiders’ roster upgrades and a new focus on elite recruits.Watch our show LIVE, M-F at 9:30 am et! https://youtube.com/live/4RXNwmkWHoE Hosts: Andy Staples, Ari WassermanProducer: River Bailey Want to partner with the show? The Big 12 might have the DEEPEST group of QBs in the country
Andy and Ari are live from Big 12 media days!(0:00-1:59) Intro: Sparky is back on the helmet(2:00-9:40) The QB position in the Big 12(9:41-17:03) Kansas State, Kansas(17:04-19:30) Will Oklahoma State turn it around?(19:31-23:24) Utah with Devon Dampier(23:25-26:23) Colorado Discussion(26:24-29:04) Ari sees a trophy(29:05-38:14) Wrapping up the Colorado discussion(38:15-43:10) Could the Big 12 get a title in the next decade?(43:11-48:52) The West Virginia Mountaineer joins(48:53-51:02) Reacting to the early access of the video game(51:03-53:48) Conclusion: Big 12 Group Photo Join the boys from The Star in Frisco, Texas, as they preview the first major conference media days. That’s right. The long offseason is over. Ari wonders if we’re underrating a good group of Big 12 quarterbacks. Big Ten and SEC schools tried to get players like Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson and TCU’s Josh Hoover to enter the transfer portal. They stuck with their teams, but they probably aren’t getting as much shine as they’d be getting in those leagues. But it’s possible the Big 12 is the deepest QB league in the country. What questions should Andy and Ari ask coaches like Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, Baylor’s Dave Aranda and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham? The curious case of the new millionaire Texas Tech offensive lineman
The boys are back live, and they’ve got a lot to discuss!(0:00-0:36) Welcome Back!(0:37-19:08) 5-Star OT Felix Ojo commits to Texas Tech(19:09-23:50) Story Time with Ari(23:51-28:08) Concluding Texas Tech discussion(28:09-39:59) Alabama's BIG Recruiting Week(40:00-47:27) Golfing or Fishing?(47:28-55:07) Jake Retzlaff Update(55:08-57:15) Charles Jagusah Injury(57:16-1:00:55) Conclusion: Big 12 Media Days this week! Five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo committed to Texas Tech last week. Ojo’s agent said Ojo agreed to a guaranteed three-year deal worth $5.1 million. Texas Tech sources quickly responded, claiming the guaranteed portion of the deal is actually worth closer to $2.3 million over three years. The entire saga is fascinating. There was the usual hand-wringing about how this is ruining college sports, but would Ojo have agreed to go to Texas Tech any other way? Plus, the way the salary news leaked out has a very NFL-in-2005 feel to it. It shows that we who cover college football need to get more sophisticated. Also, BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff is expected to enter the transfer portal. Retzlaff is leaving BYU rather than face a reported seven-game suspension for violating the school’s honor code. Meanwhile, Alabama is on a recruiting hot streak that looks like the Nick Saban days. The Crimson Tide had four top-50 players commit in the past two weeks.
