Carter (PhD, University of St. Michael's College) is professor of theology at Tyndale University in Toronto and theologian in residence at Westney Heights Baptist Church in Ajax, Ontario. He is the author of four other books including Interpreting Scripture with the Great Tradition: Recovering the Genius of Premodern Exegesis. A longer term project is a major, three- volume commentary on Isaiah for the International Theological Commentary series (T. & T. He's been teaching in the seminary or college context across the country for nearly 30 years, and is a member of the OPC (Orthodox Presbyterian Church). His research interests are in 16th and 17th century Geneva (beginnings of the Reformation), 18th century Philadelphia (Second Great Awakening), and the 20th century Fundamentalist/Modernist controversy. He's written numerous books on the history of Protestantism since the 16th century, the modern Evangelical Church and the "Religious Right" movement, and the history of the OPC.
