From 1980 to 1985, the underground zine “Sleazoid Express” became one of the first publications to seriously cover grindhouse movies, and a valuable primary document about life on New York’s 42nd Street. Its editor and writer, the late Bill Landis, was the Hunter S. Thompson of film criticism… and a man who left a trail of wreckage in his wake.
