2967 Keep Going!
Whether you succeed or fail, sometimes life can be a challenge to move forward. That dark gray cloud of being less than and not good enough still lingers. Don't bet on your failures or successes. Keep going! You know that feeling of being less than and not good enough all too well. It's like a dark storm cloud that hovers over you, making everything feel heavy and impossible. Eating is a pleasurable activity fueling our body with the energy and nutrients needed to function properly. However, sometimes we tend to overeat, consuming more calories. So lead a healthy life. Be full! I would love to think that we could eat anything and everything. No boundaries. No foods off-limit. No structure to timing and labels. Only food! To avoid this, it's essential to learn how to recognize when our body is full and satisfied. Let's explore the science of satiety and the benefits of incorporating healthy fats. The Science of Satiety Satiety is the feeling of fullness and satisfaction that comes after eating. It's a complex physiological process that involves communication between the gut, brain, and hormones. The gut communicates with the brain through a network of nerves and hormones, informing it about the amount and type of food that has been consumed. The brain, in turn, responds by releasing hormones that regulate appetite, such as leptin and ghrelin. Leptin is a hormone that is released by fat cells and signals the brain to reduce appetite and increase metabolism. Ghrelin, on the other hand, is a hormone that is released by the stomach when it's empty, stimulating hunger. These hormones work together to create a balance between hunger and fullness. When we eat, the release of leptin signals the brain that we are full, and the release of ghrelin decreases, reducing our appetite. In addition to hormones, the volume and type of food we eat also play a significant role in satiety. Foods that are high in fiber and protein take longer to digest, keeping us feeling fuller for longer. On the other side, foods that are high in sugar and fat are quickly digested, leading to a rapid rise in blood sugar and a subsequent crash, leaving us feeling hungry again soon after eating. All the more reason to add healthy fats! The K.I.S.S. ~ Add healthy fats! Incorporating healthy fats into our diet can help us achieve a sense of fullness and satisfaction after eating. Healthy fats, such as those found in olive oil, avocados, nuts, and fatty fish, are an essential component of a healthy diet. They are important for brain health, reducing inflammation, and regulating hormones, including those that control appetite. Olive oil is a staple of the Mediterranean diet and has been linked to numerous health benefits. Including a reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers. Olive oil contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which have been shown to increase satiety and reduce the risk of overeating. Additionally, olive oil is an excellent source of antioxidants, which help protect the body from oxidative stress. Avocados are another healthy fat source that can help promote satiety. They are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, fiber, and potassium. In one study, participants who ate half an avocado with their lunch reported feeling 22% more satisfied and had a 24% lower desire to eat in the following hours compared to those who didn't eat avocado. Nuts are another excellent source of healthy fats that can promote satiety and improve overall health. They are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, fiber, and protein, making them an ideal snack for those looking to maintain a healthy weight. Eating nuts has been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Additionally, nuts contain a variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium, which are essential for overall health and well-being. Incorporating nuts into your diet, such as almonds, walnuts, and pistachios, can help you feel fuller for longer and reduce the risk of overeating. However, it's important to keep in mind that nuts are high in calories, so it's essential to practice portion control and incorporate them into a well-balanced diet. Incorporating healthy fats into our diets is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being. Here are three ways to add healthy fats to our diets: Cooking with healthy oils: We can use healthy oils, such as olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil, in our cooking to add healthy fats to our meals. These oils can be used in salad dressings, cooking, and baking. Adding nuts and seeds to meals and snacks: We can add a handful of nuts or seeds, such as almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, or flax seeds, to our meals and snacks to add healthy fats and nutrients to our diet. Incorporating fatty fish: Fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, are excellent sources of healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids. We can incorporate these fish into our diet by grilling, baking, or sautéing them, or by adding them to salads or sandwiches. Alternatively, we can consider taking a fish oil supplement to ensure we're getting enough omega-3 fatty acids. In all that you do, consult your medical provider. By giving our body the gift of fullness, we can choose more wisely what to put into it. The brain can be reprogrammed to recognize when we are full and satisfied, allowing us to eat what our body needs, not what we want. To do this, it's essential to pay attention to our body's signals, such as feelings of hunger and fullness, and to eat mindfully, taking time to savor and enjoy our food. 2965 Walk Faster than You Run
Have you ever felt like you're running a race, but it seems like you're not making progress; working hard, but the results not showing up fast enough? If you want to stay in the race of your life, walk faster than you run. It's a common misconception that if you want to achieve success, you have to move like you're going to "break your neck" speed. But the truth is, sometimes slow and steady wins the race. When you feel like you're not making progress, it's easy to get discouraged. You want to give up, and you think that you're never going to reach your goals. But the key to success is to keep moving forward, even if it's at a slower pace. Remember, every step you take is a step in the right direction. At the time, it may not seem like you're making much progress, But as time passes, those small steps will add up. And before you know it, you'll be much farther along than you ever thought possible. The K.I.S.S. ~ Walk faster than you run! The key is to keep going, even when it feels like you're not getting anywhere. Keep taking those small steps, and before you know it, you'll have covered a lot of ground. Think about it this way: when you're running, you're focused on going as fast as you can. You're putting all your energy into moving forward, but you're also using up a lot of energy in the process. When you walk, you're still moving forward, but you're using less energy to do it. The same is true in life. When you're constantly pushing yourself to move faster, you're using up a lot of energy, and it can be exhausting. But when you slow down and take things at a more manageable pace, you can conserve your energy and keep going for longer. So don't feel discouraged because things aren't moving as quickly as you'd want. Walk faster than you run. Slow down in order to speed up. You want to set the pace for a lifelong race. 2964 Change is Not the Enemy
Change is a constant; it's inevitable in life. Why cling to the familiar routines, relationships, and situations especially if you're unhappy? Be cautious of your comfort zone. Change is not the enemy. Carol Dweck, a renowned psychologist, said, "The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life." Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Her research on mindset shows that people who embrace a growth mindset, believing that their abilities and intelligence can be developed, are more likely to take on challenges, learn from failures, and achieve their goals. However, in contrast, when you have a fixed mindset, then you believe that your qualities are set in stone, may avoid challenges, give up easily, and feel threatened by criticism or setbacks. Dweck's insights apply to the domain of change because they suggest that our beliefs about ourselves and our capacities can shape our willingness to adapt to new circumstances. If you see yourself as capable of learning and evolving, you may approach change as an opportunity to grow rather than a threat to your identity. You might also be more resilient in the face of setbacks or rejection, recognizing that they are not a reflection of your worth or potential. Similarly, Brene Brown, a researcher on vulnerability and courage, said, "Vulnerability is not weakness; it's our greatest measure of courage." Brown's work emphasizes the importance of embracing vulnerability, which she defines as the willingness to expose oneself to uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. She argues that vulnerability is essential for developing authentic connections with others, for fostering creativity and innovation, and for living a fulfilling life. When you think of change, Brown's message is relevant because it suggests that we must be willing to let go of our defenses and open ourselves to the unknown. We must accept that change involves a degree of uncertainty and discomfort, but also an opportunity for growth and transformation. By embracing vulnerability, we may find the courage to pursue new paths, connect with new people, and express our true selves. How do you overcome what doesn't work? How do you get out of the traps of routines and comfort zones that constantly drive you toward what you are wanting to avoid? Yes, you feel okay because you know what's going to happen, even if you don't like it. But at some point, you have to say, "Enough is enough!" There's a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.. (Ecclesiastes 3:1) The K.I.S.S. ~ There's a time for everything! This verse acknowledges the cyclical nature of life, with its ups and downs, joys and sorrows. It reminds us that change is a natural and necessary part of the journey, and that every phase has its purpose and meaning. Make adjustments. You don't have to change everything to make a change. Little tweaks here and there can change your direction. Think about riding in a canoe. By putting your paddle in the water on one side and pushing the water to the top of the canoe, you begin to slow down if you were moving forward. Renew your mind. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will." You don't want to be complacent and conform to only what society has to show you. Seek the renewal of your mind so you can continually refresh and rejuvenate the heart, drawing closer to God. Host a party. Now, I don't mean literally. But when you are ready to take a different path, then celebrate it. Shout it in the hallways of your home. Put it on the locked screen of your phone. Tell your family and friends who will support you. Change is a natural and necessary part of life that can create growth, courage, and transformation. When you see what's possible on the other side of change, it doesn't appear all that scary. In fact, it's more possible than probable. As Tony Robbins, a motivational speaker, said, "Change is inevitable. Progress is optional." The choice is yours. PRAYER: May you renew your mind with the gifts given to you by God, and be willing to stretch your weaknesses to the point of growth. There's nothing to scary when you walk by faith. "Be present. 2963 Revival of Your Heart
How do you wake up a sleeping heart? In life, you experience moments where you feel heavy, weary, and tired. Don't let your heart become disconnected, dormant, and dozy. Let God ignite the revival of your heart. We can easily find ourselves going through the motions of life without any real passion, purpose, or presence. But what if you knew that what you used to believe is the truth? Would you be willing to go beyond what you can't see in order to experience the revival of your heart? Revival is defined as a renewed interest in or attention to something; a renewal, an awakening. Now, when it comes to the revival of your heart, it's about a renewed passion for God, an awakened desire to serve Him, and a revitalized relationship with Him. Revival is not a one-time event or a quick fix. It doesn't have to happen in a special place. There can be many special places like Asbury University in Wilmore, KY; your church; your own hometown; even in your heart. But remember, the revival is not a one and done. It is a continuous process of seeking and pursuing God's heart, allowing Him to transform you from the inside out. It's the revival of His presence in your heart. The K.I.S.S. ~ Revival of your heart! The most magnificent feeling is what you feel in your heart. Repentance - The first step towards experiencing revival for your hearts is repentance. Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It's acknowledging our wrongdoing and asking for God's forgiveness. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Prayer - Prayer is powerful for the revival of your heart. It's not just about asking God for things; it's about prayer in His presence, listening to His voice, and aligning our hearts with His. In Matthew 6:6, Jesus says, "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Read God's Word - Reading the Bible is another essential tool for experiencing revival. It's through the Word of God that we gain insight and wisdom for living a God-honoring life. In Psalm 119:105, the psalmist says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Let God's truth (His Word) shape your heart and mind. Fellowship - Get together as a family. That's what fellowship is all about. It's the encouragement and support of believers that you can stay on track and continually pursue God's heart. In Hebrews 10:24-25, we're told, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Surrender - Finally, you must surrender your heart to God and every part of your life. No more compartmentalizing. No more putting God in box. It's about living out His plan here on earth. You cannot be who God desires you to be without Him. Transformation starts with God in your heart. In Romans 12:1-2, we're told, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Marriage is a blessing and a beautiful journey that brings two individuals together where "me becomes we." But it's not always roses and rainbows. Unfortunately, our marriages take a back seat to our responsibilities. As time goes on, the romance can dwindle, which leaves couples feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. However, you don't have to accept that as truth for your marriage. With a little effort, it's possible to rekindle the spark and reclaim the romance. The K.I.S.S. ~ Reclaim the romance! Romance does not happen by chance. After a long day at work, taking care of the kids, and handling the household responsibilities, you're going to be tired and wanting to chill out. But part of your chilling out can include your spouse in many ways, and that means romantically. Schedule date nights One of the biggest challenges for couples with busy lives is finding the time to spend together. By scheduling regular date nights, you can prioritize your relationship and make time for each other. Whether it's a fancy dinner or a simple walk in the park, spending quality time together is essential for keeping the romance alive. Be creative and keep it fresh If you've been together for a while, it's easy to fall into a rut. To keep things fresh and exciting, try to come up with creative ideas. For example, you could take a cooking class together or go on a weekend getaway to a new city. The possibilities are endless, so don't be afraid to try something new. Communicate openly and honestly Communication is the foundation of any successful relationship, and it's especially important when trying to reclaim the romance. 2961 The Rhythms of Your Love
Parenting can seem like a life sentence where we never escape the mess. What appears easy is the hardest and most rewarding gift we have to give. But in due time, the rhythms of your love become deeper and wider. Who would have thought that in one moment, you would feel the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat (Jim McKay, Sports Commentator)? Only if it was easier, but strangely, I would argue that it can be simpler than we make it. A lot of parents try to be accepted by their children, going for the "like" vs. the respect. The parents' thinking is that "If they 'like' me, then we'll be good friends. Parenting will be a piece of cake." But as you know, that's not the truth. If we keep trying to be "friends" with our children, they will struggle to become productive adults. Life as a parent is not easy. But you can impact your children without sacrificing your sanity. Build the rhythms of your love with respect. The K.I.S.S. ~ Respect over "likes"! In today's digital age, technology is ingrained into our DNA. Therefore, social media platforms have become an integral part of life. And when children (and adults) are on social media, we desire those "likes" that validate who we are. Now social media can be beneficial for keeping in touch with friends and meeting people, etc. But come on parents! We can't let "likes" become the priority over values. Respect over "likes" MODEL respectful behavior: Children learn from what they see and say. TEACH empathy: Empathy is the ability to put ourselves in someone else's shoes so we can understand their perspective. SPEAK face-to-face: Quit making everything into a text. It's fine if you're away from each other, but in the same house? Seriously! How you interact with your children will build their real-life experiences. MONITOR their social media: Parents, you have to know what's happening on your child's social media feed. Give them clear boundaries. And if they are on social media, you need to be too. FOSTER the family and a community: You must encourage your children to be involved in the family and in activities that build them up and reinforces respect. You will have years to be friends with your children. But now, they need you to be their parent. Nope, you won't always feel appreciated and liked. But remember, it's respect over "likes"! 2960 Hope for the Heart
There are moments in life when we feel like giving up. Don't run away from the insurmountable situations that fill your day. Be bold even when you don't know how your situation will turn out. Know there is always hope for the heart. When those moments show up on your doorstep and begin pounding down your door, a rescue might be exactly what you need. What does your day look like? Are you already dreading what is around the corner? You don't have to convince yourself that something is going to be different. It already is if you believe it. What you think about, you bring about. So let go of all the CRAP that's drowning your smile. No, your day most likely won't be perfect. Then again, neither will mine. Stop complaining and start retaining. The K.I.S.S. ~ Hope for the heart! But are you willing to look for it in the nooks and crannies of your day? Because most of us seem to hang out with what ruins our day rather than what builds up our day. Take a trip with me for just a moment. Imagine sitting in a short, canvas chair with the sand between your toes as little drops of sweat roll down the side of your face and kiss your cheeks. The ocean waves gently caress the shore as small white bubbles come up from the sand. There is a crab grateful for the water reward. Soon the refreshing water reaches your toes washing away all the worries to and fro. What do you need to let wash away today? What can you give to God, so your heart doesn't have to be so heavy? Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. We all deal with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, and despair differently. My plea for you is that you don't let it overcome you. You can overcome it! There is hope for the heart. 2959 How To Be More Attractive
Why do we allow others to project their definitions of a healthy lifestyle on us? If you want to live the life you desire, learn how to be more attractive by your definition and reflection. The world does not need to dictate what healthy living is all about for you. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? But ultimately, what seems to hold most of us back? Who we see in the mirror. Our reflections can be a deterrent to who we are not, what we are lacking, and where we have failed. At the same time, our reflections can remind us of who we can become even when all we see is a mess. You don't have to have all the answers in order to move forward on a goal. You don't have to be "all in" without errors to pursue a healthy lifestyle. It's about releasing the control that overrules your every step. You can never get back the time of yesterday. But you can defend your time today in order to impact your tomorrow. Start where you left off. SEE the truth, not the lies. So much of what we want is entangled with lies. We make decisions that don't make sense to who we want to become, leaving only the answers to fulfill what we currently know. When you face the truth, that's where the transformation begins. ACT on one thing, not lots of things. Don't overcomplicate your days. Life is complicated enough. So do what you can in the season you are in and create a rhythm. You need consistency to build resilience to your old habits. BE who you are becoming, not the memories of your failures. You can knock yourself down as many times as you want. But the more you live like who you are becoming, the greater your chances of living the life you desire. When it comes to being more attractive, it doesn't matter what others think. It matters who you see in your reflection. If you continue to cut yourself down and talk bad about yourself, that's where you're going to stay. However, if you are willing to take a chance on transitioning to your goals, then that's where you'll find what you're looking for. CHALLENGE: Don't focus on all the stuff.
