Stuff | Brodie Kane Media
Welcome to Kiwi Yarns - those yarns you have where you sit down, put the kettle on, pour a whiskey or crack open a beer I honestly don‘t mind. Anyway! We‘re sitting down and we’re yarning to some great New Zealanders, their back stories, their front stories, even stories where they went sideways, we will go there. It’s a place where we celebrate the great people of this glorious nation.

Nichole Lewis
Today’s guest is the international best-selling author and award-winning property investor and property coach, Nichole Lewis.Nichole is the CEO of the Property Lifestyle which she describes as her “dream job”. As we’ll hear, she's had an extremely interesting life and really challenging career - including coming painstakingly close to bankruptcy - pretty much losing everything around the Global Financial Crisis. She bounced back, having to start all over again, and now spends a good chunk of her time sharing that knowledge and learnings with others. A really eye-opening listen!

Kelly Hutton
Today’s guest is a wonderful woman I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for the past three years. During that time Kelly Hutton - one of the OG Canterbury Flames netballers - has been living with stage three Ovarian Cancer. She’s beaten it twice - but was told at the start of August that she’s got just weeks to live.Kelly and I first met when she won a charity auction helicopter skydive with me, and we have kept in touch ever since. She has a passion for living life and really has pulled the middle finger at her cancer. Since diagnosed she's done half marathons, jumped out of helicopters, walked some of our beautiful walks and got a good chunk of the way through cycling across Aotearoa before she got sick again. Now, she really is out of time, and this may very well be the last time I speak to her. We were messaging and she asked if I was open to doing a Kiwi “end of” Yarn - she said we Kiwis don’t tend to talk that much about the end of life and “this sort of shit enough”, so could we hit one final spot together and change a bit of the world. We'll miss you Kel, but we are so lucky to have had you in our world.

Louis Davis
Today’s guest is one of the biggest TikTokers in New Zealand. Louis Davis has amassed 1.3 million followers on the social media app. And no, it’s not for doing little dances (although he and his daughter dance and it is super cute) - he has captured the hearts of his audience with his beautiful content featuring his daughter Anakiwa. But also for packing up, and moving back to where he grew up to focus on family life.A lovely, wholesome, cup-filling kōrero.

Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck
Today’s guest is a former rugby league star-turned social media sensation. Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck can still side-step better than most, but he made a massive career decision to leave an NRL contract to go out on his own in the online world. And, it's paid off, because his positivity, hilarious skits and entertaining content has resulted in a HUGE following on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. The grand total? 1.8 MILLION across all platforms.

Theresa Gattung
I’m so looking forward to this kōrero with Theresa Gattung - a woman who smashed through the glass ceiling and became the first female CEO of an NZX-listed company - Telecom NZ at 37-years old.She has held multiple roles with huge success - including co-founding My Food Bag.But so much of Theresa’s mahi is centred around helping girls and women find their seat at the table - wherever that table may be and whatever that table might look like. She's speaking at EQUALIZE - it's a free-entry equity discussion series in Aotearoa celebrating women in sport, business, culture, and society.

Lance Savali
Resharing this yarn because LANCE SAVALI.I’ve been wanting to interview Lance Savali for AGES! He's a hard one to pin down, because you know, he's dancing his way around the world. Just to rattle off some low key performances: with Beyonce at Coachella, J-Lo at the Superbowl, Rihanna for Savage X Fenty - no big deal right? And he does it all with a heart condition. Unreal. He's so cool. And he taught me a TikTok hahaha!

Jo Kane on swimming the Cook Strait.
Resharing this one because it's an incredible story! What did you to celebrate your 40th birthday? Well Jo Kane (aka my Mum) decided that it would be the year she would swim the Cook Strait. It's an amazing story, considering she first set her sights on the notorious piece of water at age 16. Jo talks about the endurance training and mental toughness she built up over many years, and how she was able to turn around and complete the swim just weeks after a failed attempt. And yes, there's a shark in this story.
