When we receive God’s forgiveness, we are simultaneously freed from shame and freed to love and serve those around us. Our world is so confused about what it means to be human—and even more confused about what it means to be male and female. Sarah Josepha Hale was a mother, writer, activist, and editor of the popular nineteenth-century women’s magazine Godey’s Lady’s Book.
