What does it mean to take delight in the everyday duties of motherhood? Emily Jensen, co-founder of Risen Motherhood and co-author of the book of the same name, knows firsthand how challenging motherhood can be. A disordered view of motherhood would tell us that the sacrifice it takes isn't worth it and that we need to escape in order to recharge. Emily proposes instead that the mundane, self-sacrificial design of motherhood is actually where the beauty is found. The same woman who wrote “Mary Had a Little Lamb” also influenced popular American traditions like having a Christmas tree in your home and women wearing a white wedding gown for their marriage ceremony. She also is considered the godmother of our Thanksgiving because of her relentless petitions to Presidents and lawmakers to create the National holiday, which finally happened under President Lincoln. Kathy Lesnoff was working in an abortion clinic at the lowest point in her life. As she was preparing to take her own life, her mother-in-law shared the Gospel with her. Kathy shares the story of how coming to know Jesus changed her heart, her view on abortion, and then her career. Today, Kathy is the president of Mosaic Pregnancy and Health Centers in the state of Illinois and, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, is standing up against legislation that would force pregnancy care centers to refer clients to abortion facilities. Kathy's story is a powerful testimony of how God can break into dark places and lead us to the light.
