Melissa Keown loves history and the outdoors and has a heart for people who are different from her. Melissa is also on the leadership team in the Colorado Springs Colson Fellows Cohort (so she's good friends with Sarah!), and she shares about her experience in the program. Last week we talked with Carole Joy Seid about Ruth Bell Graham and this week when we hear the story of Edith Schaeffer, we will see some amazing parallels! Edith also grew up in China where her parents were missionaries. When Edith returned to the United States, she met the man she would marry, Francis Schaeffer. Together Edith and Francis started the ministry of L'Abri in Switzerland, a place where people journey to find honest answers to honest questions. L'Abri was filled with hospitality, art, and creativity because of Edith, and all the while she was writing many good books. Today we talk with Shelley Komoszewski, a dear friend of Erin's, about her 17-year-old daughter, Emily. On December 2, 2021 Emily passed away after experiencing a heart arrhythmia just a few short days before. Shelley shares as only a mother can about Emily and her testimony of loving Jesus, loving people, and living in a way that pointed others to Him. Shelley's steadfast faith and honesty in the midst of great suffering and grieving is nothing short of inspiring. Erika Bachiochi, a fellow at the Ethics in Public Policy Center and author of the book Rights of Women: Reclaiming a Lost Vision, is a legal scholar who shares her insightful thoughts on pro-life ethics and femininity. When Erika was in college, she considered herself to be a socialist and feminist. While Erika’s views have changed significantly over the years, she still calls herself a feminist, but now she is a pro-life feminist with a Christian worldview.
