E309: Dipping a Toe Into Amazon Waters with Gerard Noonan
An online service business can be very different when compared to an ecommerce business. Each can offer some valuable selling experience, but they're not really 100% alike. With that being said, there's so much to learn about when first going into selling on Amazon. Today's guest is just about to make that same transition. Gerard Noonan has been an online service entrepreneur for 8 years now, but after reading the 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, he's ready to start selling on Amazon Australia. Since Gerard's just about to start, we jumped in immediately into the actionable advice. This isn't a typical Under the Hood episode since its geared more towards the people who are maybe considering selling on Amazon and want to see what it's like (and how much work it actually is). So in this episode, we talk about the various advantages of having a VA right out of the bat and why I'm such a big advocate for that, the importance of building a relationship with your suppliers, and so much more. Struggling to keep track of your Amazon business? Learn about the industry standard tool that we use to keep track of all our brands, JungleScout! In this course, Greg and I go over product, keyword AND supplier research for all of those that wish to start entering a new niche, along with so much more. Sign up to learn more. Under the Hood is a segment where we do an hour-long coaching call with one of our listeners. We take a look at their businesses, provide honest feedback, offer our best business advice, and answer whatever questions they have. In exchange for the free coaching, we will turn the call into a podcast episode so that our community can benefit as well. It's a win-win! If you've got an ecommerce business, I'd like to ask you: what are some tips that you wish you knew before you started your ecommerce business? Leave a comment down below or contact us at support@ecomcrew. Happy selling!

E308: Dealing with the Coronavirus as an Ecommerce Seller
The Coronavirus is probably one of the biggest topics that everyone's talking about right now, and for good reason. It's affecting everyone's mentality, health, and for us e-commerce sellers, it's attacking our own livelihood. Supply chains in China have been disrupted, Amazon has paused its fulfilment services, slowing down delivery times to a crawl for customers. It's a frustrating time for all, but know that you are not alone. In this episode, Dave and I will be talking about how the Coronavirus has affected us personally and we'll be giving out a few tips on how to keep your business afloat during this unforeseen 'dry' season, including using government assistance and Amazon loans to your advantage. We've actually covered the Coronavirus in an earlier episode where Dave spoke with our friend Cameron Walker, who is also an ecommerce entrepreneur and was in China before this virus became a global pandemic. At that point in time, we didn't really know how big this would get, but it's definitely interesting to hear firsthand of what daily life is line in a city forced into isolation. You can find it here. If there's anything that you need help with, feel free to contact us through email at support@ecomcrew.com. E307: Breaking the Patterns in Copywriting with Lianna Patch
Today, we're joined by Lianna Patch of Punchline Copy and SNAP Copy. Lianna was one of the speakers during ECF Live this year, and even though I didn't really have an initial interest in the subject of copywriting, her presentation easily became one of my favourites because of how funny and entertaining it was. So, after hearing her talk, I knew I had to get her on the show. In this episode, I specifically requested if Lianna could share some copywriting tips that we can use to take home and really just implement right away and so, today's episode is just full of that – actionable advice, entertaining stories, and proof that shows that these things really work. So grab a pen and paper, and take notes. This is going to be an episode full of just educational tips and advice.

E306: The Business of Buying Businesses with Kelcey Lehrich
Welcome to the Ecomcrew Podcast, and greetings again from California! It's been a rough couple of days with the news of the virus becoming a global pandemic now, but I can't help but think that this was just really good timing for us to finally settle down before the news of the virus started coming around. On today's episode, it's a returning guest! We have Kelcey Lehrich from 365 Holdings on the podcast today. Doesn't sound familiar? Kelcey and I have actually recorded for the Ecomcrew podcast before but due to some technical difficulties and issues, we weren't able to release the episode. But since then, Kelcey told me that a lot has happened so I thought it was a great time to take another go at it. Kelcey is a partner at 365 Holdings – an ecommerce conglomerate in the making, with an impressive portfolio under their belt and a really unique background behind them. It's actually quite funny how this idea came to be, but I'll save that one for the podcast. If you weren't part of last week's webinar where we talked about Importing from China in 2020, don't fret because we're extending the offer to you too! We've recently partnered up with JungleScout to offer a year of JungleScout for 65% off of their usual offer with an added bonus. We'll also be throwing in our Importing from China like a Pro course for free when you purchase a year's worth of subscription to JungleScout. Learn more about it here! If you've got any questions or any comments, feel free to leave us a comment down below. We'd love to hear any of your feedback, especially with the new format of the show. And as always, Happy Selling and stay safe!

E305: Transitioning from a Brick and Mortar Store to an Online Store with Joonas Gebhard
Welcome to the Ecomcrew Podcast and greetings from Irvine, California! We're still here, establishing some roots and it's very different compared to last year where we were all over the place, doing our travelling but now that the new year's come, it feels really good to be able to stay in one spot for a while and leave the hectic travelling lifestyle behind us for a bit. For today's episode, I was actually emailed by today's guest about buying his business when I put out an episode listing the criteria of the next business I was looking to buy. And all of that back and forth has led to today's episode where I'm with Joonas Gebhard of KawaiiBox -- a subscription box brand that sells cute toys from Japan. Joonas is a Finland native, and his path to becoming an online seller is definitely one of the most interesting. From being a concert organizer, Joonas transitioned into being a local seller with a brick and mortar store in Finland before suddenly jumping ship, and taking everything online. This path definitely isn't the most common, so listen in and hear about the lessons he's learned from running a brick and mortar store to transitioning everything into online. Before I forget, Dave and I are hosting a free webinar on March 11th, 10am PST where we'll be talking about Importing from China in 2020. We'll be talking about how the Corona virus is definitely going to affect your business, Amazon Dragonboat, and the new updates on tariffs in 2020. Register now! If you've got any questions or any comments, feel free to leave us a comment down below. We'd love to hear any of your feedback, especially with the new format of the show.

E304: Losing the Fire with Jake Starr
This year is speeding by as we're already in March! Hello from Irvine, California and Happy March everybody! A few episodes ago, I put out an episode saying that I was interested in buying a business, and one of the interested sellers is today's lucky guest. Our guest is Jake Starr, the owner of Recycled Firefighter -- a brand that makes everyday carry items out of recycled firefighter gear, taken across America. We talk about several things; how the business was born out of a need to support his family, and how that business quickly took a life of its own. As crazy as it sounds, he's looking to sell his business or looking into getting a partner and we get into the reasons why he feels like it's time to either loosen his grip, or let go. Don't miss out on our free webinar on March 11th 10am PST, where Dave and I will be talking about Importing from China in 2020. We'll be addressing the elephant in the room -- the Corona virus, and how it's affecting the businesses of millions around the world, Amazon Dragonboat and the updates on tariffs as the new year picks up the pace. E302: 2019 Goals Review
It's goals time. Before I go into 2019's list, revisiting the 19 goals I've set up for myself and my company is something that I like to do before we get too deep into the year. Some of these goals were aimed for myself personally and for the company. And in this episode, we're going through each of them – the ones we achieved, the ones we failed, and the ones that we got through halfway. Before going through this latest and final update of the progress made on my 2019 goals, here are the links to all the previous ones to get you up to speed. E227: 19 Goals for 2019 E243: 2019 Goals, A Recap on the 1st Quarter E279: 2019 Goals, After 8 Months E289: 2019 Goals, After 11 Months 2019 consisted more of ups than downs but for some reason, when you hit those low points, they feel really heavy. We may not have achieved some of these goals but we were still able to achieve some of the really important ones, like selling ColorIt and being more location independent. So, here goes. Sell a brand. Position another brand for sale in late 2020. Getting back to location independence. Reducing debt to zero dollars. Hike the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. Take at least 10 weeks of personal travel. Record 6 or more episodes of the Roadshow. Invest in at least 1 ecommerce business. Lose 10 more pounds. Visit the Philippines office in 2019. Start selling our services for EcomCrew. Significantly improve the quality of the podcast. Film season 2 of the 5 Minute Pitch. Break each of our brands out into different companies. Start hosting personal events for EcomCrew. Speak at 6 industry events. Shift to doing things that only bring me immense personal fulfillment. Do intermittent fasting for all of 2019 and eat less meat. Not to drink the rest of 2019. I'm definitely glad to cross out most of the items on this list. They were things that in hindsight, might have been necessary and I just didn't know it yet. Being more location independent for the second half of 2019 restored my thirst for stability, so in 2020, I'd definitely like to be more rooted where I am. If you'd like to listen to the Tropical MBA Podcast where I was a guest in, you can listen to it here. Join us at tomorrow's free webinar, How to Start a Brand from Scratch in 2020 and Beyond. E301: Why Perseverance is so Important in Ecommerce with Dave Alexander
Welcome to the Ecomcrew podcast! It's been a month-long trip overseas. We visited several countries in South East Asia and even stopped by Australia to catch the Australian Open. This particular episode was recorded while we were still in the Land Down Under. But now we're back in America, ready to jump into the year with a refreshed mind and a hunger for growth. In this episode, I sit down with Dave Alexander to talk about his ecommerce journey, how his first ecommerce business failed and how he persevered through it all by making his third product called Lazyleash, a product that's five years in the making. For all the people that are just starting out on their ecommerce journey, I think this will be a great episode for you because Dave shares how perseverance is super important when you're first venturing into the unknown, especially in ecommerce. However, if you're a seasoned seller, and you've crossed the 1-million mark, I think you'll still find this entertaining after you hear what Dave's first ecommerce idea was. Join the waitlist here to know when Premium opens next week. If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review on iTunes and feel free to leave us a comment on the bottom of the page. Until next time, happy selling!

Bonus Episode: The Struggles of an Ecommerce Seller in China Right Now
Hi, Dave here. The spread of the 2019 Novel-coronavirus (2019-nCov) has been sowing fear and panic in people throughout the world for weeks now. The latest statistics from the WHO have recorded 14,557 cases of the disease, with an overwhelming 14,411 originating from China. The Chinese government enforced lockdown on the city of Wuhan, the outbreak's epicenter, and also in other cities in the Hubei province, including Xiangyang where ecommerce entrepreneur Cameron Walker is quarantined with this family. In this episode, we get a firsthand account of what daily life is like in a city forced into isolation, as the rest of China frantically works to contain the virus. Cameron also talks about the potential impact the Coronavirus outbreak can potentially have on ecommerce sellers importing their goods from Chinese manufacturers.
