Life Lessons with Chip - Answering Your Adversities
Are you in a painful, confusing season of life right now? Maybe you’ve lost your job, have a conflict with a spouse or a child, or just received a sudden diagnosis. Whatever it is, do you wish there was a biblical guide to respond to adversity? In this program, Chip will share three questions you need to ask when challenges come. Discover how these prompts will get you through the most trying experiences and grow your faith.Main Points
Three Questions to consider in times of adversity:
How does Jesus want to use this adversity in your life for good?
How does Satan want to use this adversity for your downfall?
How can Satan turn a God-allowed trial into a lethal temptation?
Satan is a master in deception; his MO is built on lies about:
God
You
The future
Your faith
Dark cloud “raining” down adversities:
Satan’s filter (deception):
Reaction: fear, overwhelmed, unfairness, where is God?
Leads to attitudes of: anger, despair, abandonment
End in: self-medicating, over-spending, acting out, addiction, isolation, etc.
God’s filter (truth):
You’re not alone
It’s intended for your good
Attitude: big step of faith to “consider it all joy”
Action: don’t give up (persevere)

Caring Enough to Confront - Sex, Sexuality, and Gender: Tough Questions, Practical Answers, Part 2
As a follower of Jesus, what should you do if you are invited to a wedding for a same-sex couple? What if someone asks you to use their personal pronouns? In this program, Chip and Pastor Tim Lundy continue wrestling with these real-life challenges that Christians face. Learn how to practically apply the truth and wisdom of God’s Word in your home, workplace, and community.Main Points
Purpose of Addressing Controversial Issues:
Tim's Motivation: Tim's engagement with heavy issues like sexuality and LGBTQ topics is driven by pastoral concern rather than a desire for controversy. He sees a need to address these issues due to the prevalence of false teachings and questions from families and teenagers. His goal is to shepherd families and present truth in a straightforward manner.
Handling Difficult Conversations with Children:
Listening and Grace: Tim emphasizes the importance of listening to children who come out as LGBTQ. Parents should create a space where their children feel heard, and they should express love and support while balancing grace with truth. He stresses that while the church and the family have a responsibility to uphold Biblical truth, they must also navigate the tension between their beliefs and their children's identities with grace.
Understanding and Communicating the Gospel:
Gospel’s Radical Grace: Tim explains that the Gospel is about Christ's grace despite our sin. He argues that salvation is not about moral perfection but about the transformative work of Christ. The question of whether LGBTQ individuals can be Christians should be framed in the context of the broader Gospel message, which applies to all sin, not just homosexuality.
No Barriers, No Compromise: Tim advocates for no barriers to coming to Christ, meaning people should not be expected to "clean up" their lives before embracing the Gospel. However, he also stresses the importance of not compromising on Biblical teachings and encouraging growth in righteousness.
Feedback and Reactions:
Mixed Reactions: Tim received feedback from different sides of the spectrum. Some felt his approach endorsed LGBTQ lifestyles, while others were uncomfortable with his stance on not compromising on moral issues. He views this pushback as an indication of addressing the issues clearly and effectively.
Broader Context of Sin and the Church’s Focus:
Consistency in Addressing Sin: Tim and Chip discuss the Church's tendency to focus on certain sins, like homosexuality, while neglecting others, such as pornography or adultery. They stress the need for a consistent approach to all forms of sin, emphasizing that all sin separates people from God and that the Gospel offers restoration to all.
Attending a Gay Wedding:
Gray Area: The question of whether to attend a gay wedding is seen as a gray area rather than black and white. Tim suggests that while the Bible is not explicitly clear on this issue, principles from passages like Romans 14-16 about gray areas in faith should be applied.
Conscience and Relationship: Decisions should be guided by one's conscience and the nature of the relationship. Some Christians may attend a wedding as a gesture of love and maintaining a relationship, while others may choose not to if it seems to endorse the union as a Christian marriage.
Objective: The focus should be on whether attending is for the sake of the Gospel or to avoid family tension. The intention should be clear and genuine, not just about making peace.
Using Personal Pronouns for Transitioning People:
Cultural Impact: Some view using preferred pronouns as supporting a cultural shift that they believe distorts truth. Others, particularly in therapeutic settings, see respecting pronouns as a way to build trust with those experiencing gender dysphoria

Caring Enough to Confront - Transgender Issues and The Bible, Part 2
Is gender a fluid concept or a fixed statement? Are you born a man or a woman, or do you get to choose? In this program, guest teacher Pastor Tim Lundy looks to Scripture for answers to these questions that so many people in society are wrestling with. Hear why a Bible-based sexual ethic offers hope and genuine love from a God who made men and women in His image.Main Points
Introduction:
As Christians, our approach to sex and gender must be marked by grace and truth.
When approaching transgender issues, we protect against the ideology while still caring about the individual. -John 10:11-12; Luke 15:4
Understanding the terms:
Sex: Refers to a person’s biological status and is typically categorized as male, female, or intersex.
Gender: The psychological, social, and cultural aspects of being male or female.
Gender Dysphoria: Distress some people feel when their internal sense of self doesn’t match their biological sex. (Early onset, Late / Adolescent onset, and Rapid onset gender dysphoria)
Transgender: An umbrella term that describes people whose gender identity or expression does not match the sex they were assigned at birth.
What does the Bible say? (Sprinkle, pages 63-77)
The body is essential to our image-bearing status. -Genesis 1:27
Male and female in Genesis 1 are categories of sex, not gender. -Genesis 1:28a
Adam and Eve’s bodies are viewed as sacred. -Genesis 2:21-22
Jesus views Genesis 1-2 as normative. -Matthew 19:4-5
Paul sees the body as significant for moral behavior and correlates the body to personhood. -1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Romans 6:13
Scripture prohibits cross-sex behavior. -Deuteronomy 22:5; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
The incarnation of Christ affirms the goodness of our sexed embodiment. -Colossians 2:9
Sex difference probably remains after the resurrection. -Luke 20:35-36; Romans 8:11; 1 John 3:2
Jesus’ acceptance of the eunuch is not a pattern for understanding gender identity. -Matthew 19:12
Paul’s reference to neither “male or female” does not overturn sex differences. -Galatians 3:28
Summary points and next steps:
Biological sex and gender are linked together and important to God’s design.
Instead of transitioning, we should help people accept their bodies as part of their God-given identity.
Recognize the unique struggle for Christians who suffer with Gender Dysphoria.
As a church, we must strive to create a safe place where all people can find and follow Jesus.
Avoid defining gender according to stereotypes and embrace the diversityof expression in God’s design.
We must confront the lies of the current ideology because it is destroying lives.
We must never lose sight of the individual that Christ loves no matter how their lives have been impacted by sin.

Caring Enough to Confront - Does the Bible Affirm Same-Sex Relationships?, Part 2
Many throughout culture and even some in the Church believe the Bible has a passive or neutral opinion about homosexuality. But is that really true? In this program, Chip continues his interview with apologist Rebecca McLaughlin, author of the book “Does the Bible Affirm Same-Sex Relationships?” They walk through key biblical evidence that settles this debate - once and for all.Main Points
Introduction and Work:
Rebecca McLaughlin is a best-selling author and PhD from Cambridge, known for her work on apologetics and controversial Church issues.
Her latest book is Does the Bible Affirm Same-Sex Relationships?
Faith Journey and Challenges:
Grew up in a church-going family in London and has been a follower of Jesus since childhood.
Faced challenges to her Christian beliefs during her academic journey, especially on sexual ethics.

Biblical Perspective and Sexual Ethics:
Argues the Bible does not support same-sex sexual relationships, linking marriage and sexuality to the gospel message.
Emphasizes the importance of addressing sexual ethics for understanding Christian teachings.
Points out the New Testament’s serious stance on sexual immorality and the symbolic nature of marriage in the Bible.
Countering Common Claims:
Rebecca argues that the Bible offers an inclusive vision of love among believers, distinct from romantic or sexual love.
She contrasts the emotional appeal of same-sex relationships with the biblical command for non-sexual, brotherly/sisterly love.
Christian Love and Relationships:
Emphasizes that Christian love is deeply committed and inclusive, but not sexual.
Highlights the significance of Christian fellowship as a fulfilling relational aspect of faith.

Understanding Romans 1 and Gospel Integration:
Romans 1 highlights various sins, including same-sex relationships, to show the universal need for Jesus and redemption.
Biblical texts condemning same-sex relations often emphasize redemption and grace, as seen in Paul’s letters.
Christian Humility and Jesus’ Teachings:
Christians should approach discussions on sin with humility, recognizing everyone’s need for redemption.
Jesus’ teachings on sexual ethics focus on deeper heart issues and the need for a savior, not just moral compliance.

Marriage and Ultimate Fulfillment:

True satisfaction comes from a relationship with Jesus, offering a love beyond human capacity.
Addressing Same-Sex Attraction and Identity:

Caring Enough to Confront - Homosexuality in Light of Scripture, Part 2
The 21st-century church has become so divided over the issue of homosexuality. Whole denominations of Christians have split apart about whether to include or exclude same-sex couples. So, in this program, guest teacher Pastor Tim Lundy goes to the Bible for clarity. He also talks to those struggling with same-sex attractions and encourages the body of Christ to better respond to those in the gay and lesbian community.Main Points
7 Places in Scripture where homosexuality is mentioned:
Rescue of Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah. -Genesis 19
Levite and his concubine. -Judges 19
Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13 Understanding the Law today (Moral – Civil – Ceremonial)
Romans 1:26-27
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
1 Timothy 1:8-11
Summary from the passages:
Sexual intimacy between same-sex partners is condemned in the direct passages of Scripture.
Sexual intimacy between same-sex partners is never portrayed in a positivelight in the Bible.
There is no Biblical warrantfor same-sex marriage.
If homosexuality is not permitted biblically, then why are some people attracted to the same sex?
Christian and secular experts continue to grapple with the issue of causality.
The impact of the fall cannot be underestimated in the ways it has shaped humanity. -Romans 5:12
Is it sinful to have same-sex desires?
God never tempts us – It always comes from the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Jesus was tempted as we are, so temptationis not sin. -Hebrews 4:15
When we allow our desire to cross the line to thoughts or actions contrary to God’s design, we have sinned. -James 1:13-15
How have Christians with same-sex desires chosen to live out their faith?
Celibacy: A choice of devotion to Christ.
Marriage (Heterosexual): A choice of self-denial for Christ.
Kinship Partnerships: Nonsexual intimacy with others.
Transformation: Nothing is impossible with God.
How should we respond as a church?
We can love all people knowing that it is not our responsibility to judge them. -1 Corinthians 5:9-10, 12
In the context of relationship, ask: “May I introduce you to Jesus?”
We must continue to speak the truth in love to those in the church, calling all of us to the sexual standards of Scripture.
We must support and celebrateour brothers and sisters in Christ who struggle with same-sex attraction, but are choosing to pattern their lives according to Scripture.
We must develop a more robust understanding and celebration of single adults in the church.
We must open our homes and families to those who are longing for community and were promised it in the church.
