Public-Private Partnerships for Disaster Resilience

Using Emergency Management Interns

The City of Tacoma Office of Emergency Management is led by Tieka Adeogun. Pro Bono Lawyers for Disaster Justice

In 2021 almost one in three Americans experienced a weather related disaster. The aftermath of these disasters disproportionately devastate marginalized communities, and government aid programs like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reportedly favor white, rich people most. Hurricane Andrew--30 Years Later

Before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, there was Hurricane Andrew which made landfall in Dade County Florida on August 24, 1991—30 years ago. The hurricane caused catastrophic damages. Wildfire Resilient Communities

Use of Social Media in Disasters

Oregon State Office of Emergency Management

Oregon Emergency Management is undergoing a major transition from being a division of the Oregon National Guard to now being a Department of Emergency Management reporting directly to the Governor of Oregon.
