Postgame 2/28: Eichel returns, history repeats itself nonetheless

It's important to note that on the day Jack Eichel returned to the Buffalo Sabres lineup, the Philadelphia Flyers took the Alex Winter-lookalike on an excellent adventure, repeating yesterday's history with a convincing 3-0 win. Carter Hart got credit for the shutout in this one, stopping all 28 pucks directed towards him on Sunday afternoon, while Philly potted all three of its goals in a 21-shot second period en route to a blanking of Buffalo. Sean Couturier finished off a great play he started in the neutral zone by putting home a loose puck on in the paint to get things started, Michael Raffl got a stick on a nice point shot from Robert Hagg for the second, and James van Riemsdyk netted his tenth of the year on a beautiful deflection off a Joel Farabee shot/pass. It was another solid, necessary performance from the orange and black, dominating a team they should dominate to close out a 3-0 stretch against awful teams based in New York. Now it's on to March, which will start with three straight in Pittsburgh before returning home for three against the Washington Capitals, with a bonus Buffalo game thrown in for good fun. Ok, that's all the typing I'm going to do. Push play on the pod now. Thanks! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices Learn more about your ad choices. Postgame 2/27: Back to Beating Up on the Bad Teams

The Philadelphia Flyers improved to 10-1-1 against teams that aren't the Boston Bruins with a dominant performance against the Jack Eichel-less Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon. The 3-0 victory was Brian Elliott's second shutout of the season, the first also coming in a 3-0 win against Buffalo. Sean Couturier, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Scott Laughton scored for Philly, whose team shot total hit 39 for a second consecutive game. The Flyers have won the shot battle by a combined 78-50 over the last two games, showing that although Boston, the East's elite team, may have their number, the orange and black are taking care of business against lesser competition. And speaking of competition, do we have a GOALIE CONTROVERSY? For this and a whole lot more, check out the postgame podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Postgame 2/24: Wins are fun, I'd almost forgotten

It was good to see the Philadelphia Flyers remembered they have to score more goals than their opponents, and they recognized the best way to do that is by taking considerably more shots. Well, on Wednesday night, the Flyers took a season-high 39 shots on goal en route to a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers, restoring peace and balance to the universe and setting themselves on a course towards the playoffs.  Claude Giroux announced his return to the lineup with authority, picking up 3 assists, registering 8 shots on goal and winning 73% of his faceoffs, while Erik Gustafsson and Shayne Gostisbehere each notched their first goals of the season. Other stuff happened- JVR scored, so did Kevin Hayes. Chris Kreider accounted for all the Rangers' offense, scoring a hat trick- the second Philly has allowed in as many games. Brian Elliott was good enough to get the win. Hockey was played, etc.  Anyway, click play and listen to the postgame. Then listen to it on another device, too.  Learn more about your ad choices. Postgame 2/21: More like Tah-NO

David Pastrnak is freakin' ridiculous. Like... damn, yo. Pasta netted another hat trick against, his second triple tally game against the Philadelphia Flyers this month, en route to a 7-3 victory in the Lake Tahoe outdoor game on Sunday night. Philly is now 0-3-2 against the best team in the division in 2021, and Carter Hart has surrendered 20 goals in his four starts against the B's. That is... not good. Of course, the Flyers have yet to be at full strength when lining up against Boston, but all the excuses in the world don't make up for the three goals potted by Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic, and Nick Ritchie in about a minute-and-a-half late in the second period. That's it, I'm done summarizing. You saw the game. Now, listen to the postgame. For real. Click play. Now. Learn more about your ad choices.
