Kayla: My 9 year old son has been anxious and possibly dealing with depression post covid 19. I have noticed that he has started to pull out his hair (Trichotillomania), I was wondering if you can recommend any natural supplements for anti-depressants for anxiety, depression, and adhd? Thank you. Dar: Hey Dr. Cabral. Hope all is all well with you and your family. I am well aware there's no silver bullet and aging is an inevitable natural process but for men 40+ is there anything they can take to maintain/increase muscle mass, fitness gains, sex drive, performance without resorting to HRT? Maybe it's vanity but I knew what I was capable of naturally, the physique and performances are slowly regressing. I am an otherwise healthy person, I use your supps, follow your men's guide to fitness and they're really good and I'm forever grateful but I see some of my peers on HRT who look better than and claim they're performing better than they were in their 20's. I don't want to go that far because I don't know future side effects. Are there any at all? Anyway, keep up great work. Nicole: Can you start the CBO protocol while taking methotrexate for RA? My mom takes SQ injection 1x per week. She has never tested positive for RA markers but has been sick for couple years now and no doctors could find the answers so they say she has the s/s of RA. Her s/s are severe joint pain and swelling in right wrist, fatigue, frequent diarrhea, brain fog, acne, random rashes/skin issues that come and go, anxiety/depression, body aches and just never feels good. She used to have horrible allergies/sinus infections almost year round that have improved since she changed her diet. She tries to eat paleo but does cheat and feels sick when she does. She mainly cheats on sweats because she craves sugar. This all started after 2 unexpected tragic losses in her life followed by a clostridium difficile infection. She received antibiotics for this and many for prior sinus infections. She is retired on fixed income and can't afford testing but hoping she can start a protocol. Where would you start? Doctor also has her on magnesium citrate should she continue this during protocal.Thank you for sharing your gift with others! Judy: Hi Dr. Cabral,I notice when I wake up in the morning, my blood sugar often ranges from 83-110 which I heard is not optimal. I know you mentioned 16+hour fasts are not right for everyone. I am a 37yo female, lean, mostly vata / pitta, who has low progesterone. When I tested with your team, my A1C was right at the borderline around 5.6. Do you recommend fasting until my blood sugar goes below 80 or breaking the fast even when my blood sugar is elevated? Lorena: I'm so frustrated Dr Cabral! I did the CBO Protocol after finding some yeast in the OAT and after completing it, I did another OAT 3 weeks later to check that it was gone. The OAT results were even worse! It showed more yeast and now even Clostridia markers that I didn't have before! How is that even possible? When I finished the CBO I went to Greece and yes, was having one glass of wine every night and a lot of Greek salads which as you probably know, involves a lot of onion. One thing that I have really been struggling with however is finishing dinner a few hours before bed, due to work hours, family schedules, social norms, and trying to go to bed earlier. I typically finish 1.5hr before bed and try not to eat too much (which is difficult for me) or eat hard to digest foods (often out of my control). I was wondering if there were any protocols to 'increase digestion' speed or mitigate the negative effects of eating close to bedtime? I am reaching out to ask about which type of test would you recommend in diagnosing a gut based issue. I am unsure if I should get a colonoscopy, ultrasound, or something else.Since the summer of 2018, I have been dealing with on and off again constipation, diarrhea, bloating and abdominal pain. It gets in the way of everyday normal activities, like teaching and being out somewhere (concert, gym, etc). I have gone to several doctors, including GI specialists, who in most part have ignored my issues. Recently, I have been having severe constipation and will not have a bowel movement for 3-4 days, and will only have one after I drink senna tea. Besides this issue, I am a healthy 29 year old female who works out four times a week, is within an optimal BMI range, sleeps 7-8 hours a night (some nights are more difficult than others to stay asleep), drinks almond milk, and eats organic/ grass-fed when I can. I have heard you say that you should stick to a workout program for 4-6 weeks before changing it so that your body can grow and adapt as you go. Based on that I wanted to clarify if I got this part right. If I am doing full body routines 3x a week would that mean that I do the same workouts? What I mean by this is if I am doing Deadlifts 2x a week, would I do the same style deadlift each time or change the style? Hope this makes sense. I am asking this in regards to every muscle group so if you could give an example that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again! I just wanted to start off by telling you that I do not think you have any clue how much of an impact you have made in my immediate family & the world. You are one of my idols and I am so grateful for having been introduced to you. Thank you for all you do, it is truly needed in the world, especially these days!In regards to my question, this is something that has been confusing me for nearly a decade and no-one has been able to give me a proper answer. I have used multiple smart watches to calculate my BMR and have counted my macros numerous times of my life and cant seem to understand how this works for my body. I am 6'3, 185-190lbs, typically around a 4-8% B/F, Pitta-Vatta, do 3 days a week full body interval training, 2 days light cardio. I average about 3800 calories burned on light days and 4500 on full body training days however I cant seem to eat more than 2500 calories unless I do a cheat/flex meal. How is it that my body can burn more calories nearly every single day of the week than it takes in and I am not catabolic? I feel absolutely amazing (especially since following a lot of your protocols and daily routines). I'm not trying to put on muscle or get any bigger, but just curious what your thoughts are. I am currently in my cutting phase and my question is........... Once I come out of my cutting phase, I obviously want to retain all the muscle I have built for as long as possible, basically the remainder of my life. My predicament though, is that I do not want to constantly worry about if I have consumed 0.8-1g of protein per lb of body weight, and I don't want to worry about eating at a maintenance everyday. Will my body adjust to this new found muscle, and will I retain my muscle naturally just through regular strength training and just eating intuitively? Or, will I still have to make sure I am eating at a maintenance and getting lots of protein? I'll be around 200lbs at the end of my cut so It's quite a lot of protein and calories I need to be at maintenance, and I would rather just eat how I feel like. Obviously I know I cannot starve myself, or eat 30g of protein and expect to retain my muscle I have built up this year, but I just wondered if you had any tips on how to retain my muscle without being so anal about my calories and macronutrient ratios?
