12: Strange Start To F1 2019 - Agree Or Disagree?
The start to the 2019 Formula 1 Season has been strange. For starters, we were almost on course to see Ferrari and Mercedes' (supposed!) number 2 drivers win the opening two races while their superstar drivers were have been found lacking. Okay, more so for Sebastian Vettel than Lewis Hamilton, but we still stand by our assessment. In this week's episode, we also discuss the strange form, pace and events at Renault, Red Bull Racing and most other teams on the grid. Will Fernando Alonso's next target be to race and win the Bathurst 1000? We tell you why Alonso believes that Lando Norris is more suited to race the 2019 Mclaren car and of course, should Ferrari favour Charles Leclerc over Sebastian Vettel already? Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 12) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: The 2019 Formula 1 Season seems like the 2018 Formula 1 Season; and this is not just for Sebastian Vettel alone 3:00-6:00: Is Renault testing Daniel Ricciardo's overtaking skills? Renault are going a long way to proving equal treatment to both their drivers 6:00-9:00: What Ferrari-Mercedes might ask for to participate in the Netflix-F1 show season 2\. Any guesses? 9:00-12:00: From being paid to drive, is Sergio Perez being paid to speak...? 12:00-15:00: How did Ralf Schumacher get himself to be one of Formula 1's top-earners? And did you know that Romain Grosjean is one of France's highest paid sportsmen? 15:00-end: Could Fernando Alonso be racing in the Bathurst 1000 any time soon? Should Ferrari favour Charles Leclerc over Sebastian Vettel? The Inside Line F1 Podcast, a top-rated podcast on iTunes and audioBoom, is hosted every week by Mithila Mehta and Kunal Shah. 9: F1 2019: Watch Out For The Rookies
The rookies are out to take Formula 1 by storm. Max Verstappen started the trend, followed by Charles Leclerc and now there's four more on the grid in 2019 - Lando Norris, George Russell, Alexander Albon and Antonio Giovinazzi. But there is something about these millennial rookies that makes them formidable talents. We can't last remember when Formula 1 had so many rookies line-up on the grid. Basically, the top-3 Formula 2 drivers from 2018 have been promoted to race in Formula 1 in 2019\. And of course, the Formula 1 grid in 2019 has 6 drivers who didn't race last season. Also in this week's episode, we have 'Moments in Time' with Lucien where he shares some of the most memorable racing moments from the Australian Grand Prix. We discuss what success would look like for every driver in 2019, Ecclestone's views on Mclaren needing a new team boss and if Ferrari-Mercedes will split the titles in the 2019 Formula 1 Season. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 09) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: Who needs what - we discuss what success would look like for every driver in the 2019 Formula1 Season - Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas 3:00-6:00: Leclerc vs. Verstappen, Gasly adjusting to the atmosphere in the Verstappen-obsessed Red Bull Racing 6:00-9:00: Nico Hulkenberg's high-profile benchmark in Daniel Ricciardo, Magnussen-Haas to drive Haas to 'best of rest' position in 2019? Lando Norris, already the 'Rookie of the Year'? 9:00-12:00: Carlos Sainz Jr.'s search for stability and security. Sergio Perez's double-edged sword, to beat the boss' son or not? Lance Stroll, can he even blame the car in 2019? 12:00-15:00: Kimi Raikkonen, PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE! Antonio Giovinazzi, the Adrian Sutil lookalike? Alexander Albon, can he be in contention for Gasly's seat at Red Bull Racing in 2020? 15:00-18:00: Life would come a full circle for Daniil Kvyat if he delivers and gets re-promoted to Red Bull Racing. He will end up partnering the very driver he was demoted to make way for. Robert Kubica, just matching George Russell would be an achievement, but we'd love to see him race in Formula E and kick-ass there. As for Russell, watch out for his words out-of-the-car. He's onto something! 18:00-21:00: Why on earth would Lewis Hamilton-Mercedes be boo-ed? Is it because he dislikes the smell of burgers and fries? Stroll Jr. is misusing the team's new investments already? 21:00-24:00: Use the Formula 1.5 rules and regulations for writing the rules for Formula 1 in 2021\. How soon can Red Bull Racing score Honda's first Formula 1 podium (since their return)? Mercedes wasn't interested in the Netflix documentary, but were certain Lewis Hamilton would've loved the opportunity to act and perform 24:00-27:00: Will Ferrari and Mercedes split the World Championship titles in 2019? Also, the 'Moments in Time' section with Lucien! The Inside Line F1 Podcast, a top-rated podcast on iTunes and audioBoom, is hosted every week by Mithila Mehta and Kunal Shah. 7: From World Champions To Mule Champions
Williams F1 Team - is still in the pre-season spotlight; for all the wrong reasons. One wonders what it could be like once the season starts, but then, we could have other under-performers to focus on. And would that be Mclaren? Well, Helmut Marko certainly thinks so. In our pre-pre-2019 Australian Grand Prix episode, we talk about Ferrari's masterstroke for Mission Winnow or did common sense just settle in? How easy or difficult is it for one to identify the Pirelli tyres? Why Red Bull Racing need to change their points of reference and is everyone too critical about Formula 1? Finally, we have our young and budding Formula 1 podcaster/reporter from Australia, Ashley Blutman back on our show. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 07) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: Ferrari's masterstroke with Mission Winnow - two reasons why they dropped their controversial surrogate sponsor 3:00-6:00: Will Charles Leclerc be allowed to fight Sebastian Vettel? Ferrari say yes. Ferrari also say no! Sigh!! 6:00-9:00: Confused about identifying Pirelli's tyres this season? Well, you are not alone. Could 2019 be the season when Renault fades away into oblivion in the world of Formula 1? 9:00-12:00: Red Bull Racing need to leave Daniel Ricciardo and Mclaren all alone. They desperately need a change in their points of reference 12:00-15:00: Kunal's crystal ball looks into what could be the future of Robert Kubica. Formula E? Simulator driver? Or both? Unfortunately for Williams, they've gone from being former World Champions to the team that no one minds providing Pirelli with a mule car for 2021 15:00-18:00: Is everyone too critical about Formula 1? Should Formula 1 'control' the messaging that goes out from the sport and its stakeholders - the teams, drivers, etc.? 18:00-21:00: Finally, should a championship point be awarded for the fastest lap of the race? And we have Ashley Blutman, a young and avid Formula 1 fan from Australia, back on our podcast. She shares her expectations from the upcoming season and what she thinks of the Ricciardo-Renault partnership The [Inside Line F1 Podcast](http://bit.ly/ilf1ponkf1b), a top-rated podcast on iTunes and audioBoom, is hosted every week by Mithila Mehta and Kunal Shah. 6: F1 Testing: Merc's Two-Spec Approach Could Backfire
The pre-season tests of the 2019 Formula 1 Season have concluded. We share our summarised notes from #F1Testing - the bigger story being Mercedes' rumoured two-spec car approach for the season. As smart as it sounds, could such a strategy also backfire? While Williams struggled to build one car on time, Mercedes seems to have built two! We discuss this and more in this week's episode of the [Inside Line F1 Podcast](http://bit.ly/ilf1ponkf1b). Also in this episode, Indy Car's usage of on-car LED panels to increase the visual experience - sounds cool! Are Formula 1's standarisation plans aimed at attracting privateer teams since no car manufacturers have shown interest? Like other professional athletes, should Formula 1 drivers have coaches as a part of their team setup? Why Kevin Magnussen hired Romain Grosjean's manager and lastly, the not-so-convincing reasons by organisers of the Dutch and Mexican Grands Prix to not host a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 06) 0:00-3:00: Our notes from the pre-season tests of the 2019 #F1 Season - whose rake was the biggest and deciphering the C-labelled Pirelli tyres 3:00-6:00: After failing to attract car manufacturers, is Formula 1 pursuing standardisation to attract more privateer teams? We discuss the possibilities, pros and cons. Also, the trailer of the Netflix documentary indicates a gross misrepresentation of the 2018 Formula 1 Season? 6:00-9:00: Indy Car to have LED panels on their racing cars from this season. Interesting addition? How soon before Mclaren's Indy Car driver Fernando Alonso tests the team's Formula 1 car in 2019? 9:00-12:00: Why Red Bull-Honda could plan to use five power units this season instead of the mandated three. Also, will Franz Tost walk the talk and give rookie driver Alexander Albon 2-3 seasons to settle in Formula 1? 12:00-15:00: Should Formula 1 drivers have driver coaches? Revealed: Why Kevin Magnussen signed Romain Grosjean's manager (Martin Reiss) as his manager too 15:00-18:00: How could Lewis Hamilton not have heard about the Triple Crown of Motorsport? Could Mercedes' two-spec car approach backfire in 2019? 18:00-end: The funny excuses from the organisers of the Dutch and Mexican Grands Prix for not wanting to host a Formula 1 race. In fact, could the USA Grand Prix be in trouble to? The Inside Line F1 Podcast, a top-rated podcast on iTunes and audioBoom, is hosted every week by Mithila Mehta and Kunal Shah. 5: F1 Testing: Spying Is The Best Form Of Flattery
The first official pre-season test of the 2019 Formula 1 season has only just concluded. Apart from Ferrari and Alfa Romeo's radically different (and similar?) front wings, what was our highlight of the test? This Ferrari engineer spying the Mclaren car in a not so spy-like manner. Given how testing form goes, we say that spying is the best form of flattery. Will Mclaren use this image in their sponsor presentations for the season? In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we also talk about the other struggling Formula 1 veteran team, Williams and why it is important that fans rally in support of rather than succumb to jokes on the struggling former World Champion team. Finally, we sum up the news from the test, Rich Energy's desperate and embarrassing attempts to compete with Red Bull and how Renault needs to do better for Daniel Ricciardo, on and off track. 4: Rich Energy + Red Bull = Monster?
In the 'battle of the energy drinks' in Formula 1, everyone is talking about Rich Energy vs. Red Bull Racing. But what about Monster? Wouldn't growing horns and wings make one a Monster? Yes, there's this and more in our episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. We talk about the livery reveals till date - can we also stop calling them 'car launches' please? Will Honda offer the mid-field teams a rare chance to fight for the top 3 in 2019? In which case, would you bet on Red Bull Racing fighting to be the 'best of the rest' or the winner of the Formula 1.5? Could that give us an odd Magnussen vs. Verstappen fight? Finally, we tell you why Nico Rosberg doesn't miss Formula 1\. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 4) Here's what's in store for you this season: 0:00-3:00: 'Livery and sponsor' reveals, not car launches by the Formula 1 teams, that's the truth. So why call it a 'car launch' in the first place? 3:00-6:00: The battle of the energy drinks in the world of Formula 1\. Will we have a Magnussen vs. Verstappen? Doesn't the Rich Energy logo look like the halo on the Formula 1 car? 6:00-9:00: Are the mid-field Formula 1 teams not ambitious enough? Will Honda give the other teams a rare chance to fight for 3rd place? Haas-Williams-Racing Point already embarrassing Mclaren on the title sponsor front? 9:00-12:00: Will the 2020 Formula 1 Season see the return of two champions? And of course, this week's 'What Wolff Said This Week' section. Will Ocon return to Formula 1 in 2020 as a 'heavier' driver? 12:00-15:00: Oh the irony - Markus Ericsson talks of consistency being the key to success in Indy Car. Renault could blame their steering wheel for car failures in 2019. 15:00-18:00: Red Bull Racing introduced a Spidey Mobile, while Ferrari hired Red Bull and Mercedes discards to boost their Formula 1 simulator program. Brendon Hartley to Formula E with Porsche? 18:00-end: Here's why Nico Rosberg can't be missing Formula 1 too much... 40: Man vs. Machine Intensified In F1
Formula 1 is set to introduce a new television graphics package in 2019. This could mean that drivers will not only battle each other, but against advanced artificial intelligence algorithms that will tell television viewers the probability of an overtake happening. Whether you enjoy such data or not, the 2019 Formula 1 Season will see the 'man vs. machine' fight play out on a different level altogether. Btw, the machines should already know that men have kicked their a**es in Formula 1 since inception! In this week's of the Inside Line F1 Podcast (http://bit.ly/ilf1ponkf1b) , we discuss the outlandish 'PR statements' made by several teams and drivers, like Max Verstappen claiming that he and Charles Leclerc are Formula 1's new Lewis Hamilton-Sebastian Vettel pairing. Or when Carlos Sainz Jr. hailed the 'great' start to his career as a Mclaren driver. Or when Renault claimed that their engine will be on par with Mercedes and Ferrari in 2019. Or when Toto Wolff claimed that Mercedes missed their 2019 engine targets. Or when Marcus Ericsson fuelled the always-on IndyCar vs. Formula 1 debate. Or when Sergio Perez claimed that Lance Stroll has talent. Okay, the last statement might not be a PR one, but anyway, you get the gist of what this episode has in store for you. Lastly, we applaud Kimi Raikkonen's antics at the FIA Prize Giving ceremony. Tune in! (Season 2018, Episode 40) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: FIA Prize Giving Ceremony, RAI's applaud-worthy performances! Which act was your favourite? 3:00-6:00: Did Ferrari conspire against Marcus Ericsson? We board the Ericsson-fuelled IndyCar vs. Formula 1 debate - PR statement #1 6:00-9:00: Max Verstappen in the title race in 2019? - PR statement #2; What could plan-B be for Red Bull-Verstappen in 2020? -PR statement #3 9:00-12:00: Statements #4 & #5, Lewis Hamilton could win the Nobel Prize Award, if he wanted to; that's how blessed he has been all year long! The ONLY team to have not invited Hamilton for a test is - Ferrari! 12:00-15:00: Ferrari's improved social (media) manners, a bright sign for the times to come? And several other PR statements (we lost count!) 15:00-18:00: What Wolff Said This Week Section; why would Valtteri Bottas not want to speak to Nico Rosberg? 18:00-21:00: 2019 is going to be well and truly a 'man vs. machine, we tell you why. 39: What Year Will Alonso Be Back In F1?
Will Fernando Alonso give us a chance to miss him? What year could Alonso be back in Formula 1 - 2020, 2021 or 2022? Also, more than what year, it will also be a question of with which team. We certainly don't think it would be Ferrari, Mercedes or Red Bull. In this week's episode of the [Inside Line F1 Podcast](http://bit.ly/ilf1ponkf1b), Mithila and Kunal wonder if Alonso's exit would see a mass exodus of fans from Formula 1 - that's exactly what happened when Michael Schumacher quit. History and statistics tell us why Stoffel Vandoorne can be a Formula E Champion. We offer Racing Point creative ways to announce their signing of Lance Stroll. Did Ferrari back the wrong driver in 2018? Forget a fast car, Renault better have a witty social media team for Daniel Ricciardo. And finally, was Lewis Hamilton's 'shirtey' moment a lame attempt to give us something more than Ricciardo's 'shoey'? Tune in! _(Season 2018, Episode 39)_ Here is what's in store for you this week: 0:00-3:00: Did ALO take a legion of fans away from Formula 1 like MSC did? 3:00-6:00: Will ALO let us miss him in Formula 1? How soon before ALO is back - 2020, 2021 or 2022? 6:00-9:00: History tells us why VAN can be a Formula E champion and can we get started with Mclaren-One Plus jokes already? 9:00-12:00: We offer Force India creative ways to announce their signing of Lance Stroll 12:00-15:00: Did Ferrari back the wrong driver in 2018? What if KUB still has it in him? 15:00-18:00: Mercedes win the Esports Championship too. They are the chosen ones this year. Forget a shoey, HAM did a shirt-y! 18:00-21:00: PER has been Force India’s saviour in every way this year. Red Bull’s discarded drivers coming to to the team’s rescue. But do they really have a future in Formula 1? 21:00-25:00: RIC’s Mercedes promotion. No one saw it coming! 35: Please Don't Take Away Our Chequered Flag
Will Lewis Hamilton clinch his 5th World Championship title at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix? Will Donald Trump follow Vladimir Putin’s lead and attend the race at the Circuit of the Americas? Well, what we are more concerned about is Formula 1 not replacing our beloved and iconic chequered flag with a digital version next season. Also in this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we express surprise at how soon before Michael Schumacher and Valentino Rossi’s records in Formula 1 and MotoGP (respectively) could be broken. It seems funny to see Lance Stroll give ‘Formula 1 career advice’ to Mick Schumacher. And of course, at Liberty Media’s home race, we applaud their marketing efforts, but wonder if they are running out of time to implement their changes for 2021\. Tune in! Here’s what’s in store for you: 0:00 - 3:00: Donald Trump would prefer HAM winning his fifth title in the USA over Mexico. But of course! 3:00 - 5:00: The average age of the American Formula 1 is 59 years! Yikes! Will Formula 1 run out of time to implement changes for 2021? 5:00 - 8:00: Addition in 2019: rear-wing end-plate lights; will they work as turn indicators? 8:00 - 11:00: MSC and ROS’ records are out to be broken very soon; can Formula 1 rivalries be like they are in the world of boxing? 11:00 - 14:00: Could ALO have won the title for Ferrari in 2018…you think so? 14:00 - 17:00: How is ALO still 7th in the WDC? HOW!? The mid-field battles are really intense. 17:00 - 20:00: Digital Chequered Flag in Formula 1? No, PLEASE, NO! 20:00 - 23:00: We understand why RBR refused VER to test a MotoGP bike; btw, COTA has installed a ‘Verstopper’ & Mithila’s ‘What Wolff Said This Week’ section 23:00 - 26:00: From no seat in 2019, to a seat with Mercedes in 2020…too good to be true? 26:00 till the end: Moments in Time by Lucien, Predictions & Bye-Bye! 32: Mick Schumacher Joins Ferrari, Obviously
Helmut Marko has denied being in talks with Mick Schumacher to join the Red Bull Junior Driver program. Could this actually be a hint that Red Bull are already in talks with the young Schumacher? There's going to be a race to sign him - who will win this one? But of course, Ferrari did. In this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast (http://bit.ly/ilf1ponkf1b) , we have Ashley give us a brief summary of the Singapore Grand Prix and her experiences from the Marina Bay Circuit. Also, we discuss the ‘mini race’ in Miami, how Ferrari may have beaten Red Bull and Mercedes to the ‘junior driver’ game, if Formula E is already using the ‘concept 3’ Formula 1 car and if a certain Flavio could be the ambassador for Formula 1’s newly announced betting partnership. Tune in! Here's what is in store for you this week: 2:00-5:00 - HAM seeking a new challenger in his title battle, LEC could be one? 5:00-8:00 - RBR has seats, but no drivers. Mercedes have drivers, but no seats. Can RBR give KUB’s Formula 1 dreams wings? 8:00-10:00 - Ferrari ahead of the ‘junior driver’ game.
