48: Netflix-F1 Show, Season 2: Survival of the Funniest
From now until the start of the 2020 Formula 1 season, the most-awaited moment for Formula 1 fans is season 2 of the Netflix-F1 show, Drive to Survive. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we discuss the key storylines for the show. In fact, we go one step forward - we recommend names for each Formula 1 team's episode in the show. Tune in! Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: Guenther Steiner is going to have a lot of competition to being the star of Season 2 of Netflix-F1's show, Drive to Survive 3:00-29:00: For Drive to Survive (Season 2), we suggest storylines and episode names for each team The episode name for: 1. Mercedes - Valtteri Bad-ass (because apart from Bottas, everything else was as regular as it is for a championship winning season for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton) 2. Ferrari - Fast and Furious (Leclerc's fast, everyone's furious with Sebastian Vettel for his repeated errors) 3. Red Bull Racing - Musical Chairs or Red Bull-y Racing or Red Bull Roasting (aren't all episode names self-explanatory?) 4. Mclaren - The Meme Team (let's get Carlos Sainz-Lando Norris to host the Mclaren episode, they're the funniest pair in the paddock. In fact, they deserve a full season to celebrate their resurgence) 5. Renault - All Talk, No Pace (they got it all wrong despite having drivers who share names with a super-hero and super-food!) 6. Toro Rosso - Tinder (yes, given how they exist solely to choose a partner for Max Verstappen) 7. Racing Point F1 Team - Rich Dad, Slow Kid (Lance Stroll blows apart the old Motorsport adage - the more the money, the faster you go) 8. Alfa Romeo Racing - The Kimi Raikkonen Show (is there ANY OTHER reason for any of us to cheer for them?) 9. Haas F1 Team - Guenther Steiner (because Steiner's more popular than both drivers put together and he's the returning star from Season 1) 10. Williams - Drive To Survive (because they actually are...) 47: Forget Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari Should Sign Toto Wolff
Ferrari-Lewis Hamilton-Toto Wolff-Mercedes - we wonder how the love quadrangle will eventually settle. At the moment, it is brilliant positive PR for Formula 1 and Ferrari - but more than Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari needs the managerial skills of Toto Wolff. Like Hamilton, Wolff too is out of contract after 2020. As for Ferrari, maybe they need an outsider to lead them back to their days of glory? We question Ferrari's 'Team Principal' theory from the last many seasons. Also, the FIA finally admit that 'track design' is crucial to good Formula 1 races. Zandvoort is taking it upon themselves to try deliver a blockbuster race. Can the other tracks follow suit? Lawrence Stroll is serious about his investments in Motorsport. If he purchases Aston Martin, we discuss the brightened career prospects for Lance Stroll. Will Racing Point be Aston Martin's works team? Stroll junior partnering Max Verstappen in 2021 at Red Bull Racing may be a bit out of stretch, or is it? Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 47) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 0:00-3:00: Formula 1's on a break, the Inside Line F1 Podcast isn't. We will publish all through the summer and winter breaks. The Inside Line F1 Podcast Awards will premiere in the week before Christmas 3:00-6:00: Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari is a fantastic PR story for all stakeholders in the off-season - Ferrari, Mercedes, Hamilton and above all else, Formula 1 6:00-9:00: Does Ferrari need an outsider to manage the team? They've had four insiders (Mauricio Arrivabene, well, an almost insider) who have failed miserably in leading the Scuderia to a World Championship 9:00-12:00: Can Ferrari offer Toto Wolff a more lucrative career path than Mercedes? If Hamilton-Wolff's career moves are linked, could they both join Ferrari come 2021? 12:00-15:00: FIA and Jean Todt finally admit to the importance of 'track design' in Formula 1. Zandvoort is leading the way - they're doing all they can to offer Formula Fun and not Formula Yawn next year. From banked corners to shortest pit-lane to even using a special tarmac 15:00-18:00: Lance Stroll to go from being the most-eliminated driver in Q1 to being a racer for the Aston Martin works team? Or will Aston Martin pressurise Red Bull Racing to have Stroll jr. partner Max Verstappen from 2021? 18:00-21:00: Ferrari's most expensive fuel purchase for Charles Leclerc to Walter Koster's return to the Formula 1 press conferences - the end to the 2019 Formula 1 season has been a fun one! 46: Will Formula 1 NEVER Go All-Electric?
Formula 1 claims that it will NEVER go all-electric and will instead champion hybrid technology for the future. Let's see which approach lasts longer - Formula 1's or Formula E's? For the moment, more manufacturers seem interested in the all-electric route while fans don't really care what technology powers Formula 1! By the way, what's common among most former Formula 1 drivers? Answer: repeated outbursts against Formula 1! In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we discuss Nicholas Latifi finally being awarded a race driver contract. Not interested in Latifi-Williams? We hope for a surprise appearance by Kimi Raikkonen at the 2019 FIA Prize Giving, how Pirelli are victims in Formula 1 and bet that George Russell will be THE driver to take over from the Lewis Hamilton era in Formula 1. Also, did you know that Renault and Sauber are the only two teams to have not scored a podium in the hybrid-turbo era of Formula 1? There's more, tune in! The jokes around the Formula 1 tyre graphics on television 9:00-12:00: The Inside Line F1 Podcast Awards - have nominations? Send them to us via our Facebook page. 12:00-15:00: A Honda-powered car beat both the Ferraris in 2019 - would anyone have ever imagined this? Ecclestone: LEC would beat HAM at Ferrari, really? 15:00-18:00: George Russell will be THE driver to take over from the Lewis Hamilton era in Formula 1, that's our prediction. But, is there a better crusader for the world and for Formula 1 than Lewis Hamilton? 18:00-21:00: What's common among most former Formula 1 drivers? Answer: an outburst against Formula 1. This time, it's Stoffel Vandoorne's turn to hit a few punches. Renault & Sauber the only mid-field teams to not score a podium in the hybrid-turbo era 21:00-24:00: Will Formula 1 never go all-electric, ever? Or 'never say never'...? Formula 1's making anti-all-electric statements. Yes, they are to counter Formula E! Robots to conduct pit-stops in Formula 1? Yes, we said it, and don't tell us that it hasn't crossed your mind either. Apart from a guy named Cyril, is there anyone who wouldn't want Daniel Ricciardo to be back in Red Bull Racing in 2020? 38: Steiner-FIA Spat Great For Netflix-F1 Show
Guenther Steiner is a character that keeps giving, especially when it comes to the Netflix-F1 show. Thankfully, the star of season 1 of 'Drive to Survive' was let off with a small financial penalty. In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we wonder if Mclaren-Mercedes is a sign that Fernando Alonso isn't returning to Formula 1 with the top-4 teams. Toto Wolff is afraid that Mclaren might be a threat for Mercedes come 2021, in which case, let's give Mercedes engines to Red Bull Racing too? The Verstappen camp can complain as much as they want, but Max Verstappen may not have anywhere else to go in 2021. Finally, the young Formula 1 drivers are already lining up alternative careers for themselves. Tune in! (Season 2019, Episode 38) Here's what's in store for you in this episode: 1. We discuss reverse grids and how soon before Kevin Magnussen joins Lewis Hamilton's crusade against use of plastic. Lewis Hamilton wasn't the only Mercedes driver who felt the heat in Monza. Nico Rosberg, Formula 1's famous YouTube influencer and former World Champion Mercedes driver, was under fire too - from Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton himself. Rosberg has already toned down his comments, but after attacking three out of the top-4 drivers, we wonder if Charles Leclerc would be Rosberg's next target.
