140. Father Nathan Castle – Dominican Friar / Counselor to “Stuck Souls” in the Afterlife / Author / Podcaster – Crossing to the Other Side

Welcome back to Behind Greatness. We are joined by Father Nathan Castle at his residence in Arizona. He is a Friar of Saint Dominic’s Order of Preachers for the Western Dominican Province. Father Nathan has a gift that he has been employing for 27 years – he helps stuck souls adjust to the afterlife. Father Nathan is often approached by souls who experienced a traumatic physical death to help them “get out the door” across the veil. We discuss his extraordinary communication with souls through his dreams and in his sessions: his gift of prophesy. We hear about his cosmic “mic tests” and the matching of waves of consciousness. We learn also about the mystics in his family, his green river of consciousness, the divine importance of creativity and disarming your brother vs vanquishing a foe. Even though he originally became a priest in spite of himself, he is a man of deep faith with an open heart and a no-nonsense sensibility you can only grow in Texas.    “It’s gonna hurt when you pop”   Check out our past episodes with Jill Bolte Taylor (ep 101) and Bruce Greyson (ep 69), as per our chat with Father Nathan. 139. Dr. Jennifer Mather – Scientist / World Expert on Octopuses – Needing to Explore Without Consequences

Jennifer joins us from Alberta, Canada. She grew up on the edge of the ocean in Victoria, British Columbia. Since 1985, she has been a faculty member of the Department of Psychology at the University of Lethbridge. And among many things, Jennifer is also one of the world’s leading specialists in cephalopods – including the enigmatic octopus. She was recently a scientific advisor to Netflix’s Oscar-winning documentary My Octopus Teacher in 2020. Jennifer brings us through her background as a little girl interested in sea animals to a journey of “un-meeking” herself as a young scientist pursuing a life of scientific exploration. We discuss curiosity and exploration and the brutal reality of the squashing of both as we leave childhood. We hear about exploring with consequences in academia, the importance of finding knowledge, the blimp, torpedo and the plastic bag, and the importance of always asking new questions. We learn from the Octopus that it’s never happy not knowing … and from Jennifer that the more you know, the more you know that you don't know. Kindred spirits, they are. 138. Allan Savory – Founder, Savory Institute / Pioneering Scientist – Running Out Of Time

Allan is a native of present day Zimbabwe and joins us from his home in the US. Allan has lived a life of varied and profound experiences – as a farmer, a soldier, a game ranger, a politician, an exiled politician, a biologist and a pioneering independent scientist. Without realizing what he was recognizing as a 20 year old game ranger, Allan began a life of understanding what lay at the core of humanity’s problem: management. Starting from the 1960s he saw how our modern civilization could confront desertification and reverse climate change. We discuss the destruction of past civilizations, the wicked problem of institutions, the feudalism of knowledge and how important our two tools (technology and fire) have been for us. His work promoting large-scale regeneration of the world’s grasslands through holistic management has spread over 29 countries, with more universities eventually coming on board with his decades of scientific investigation and practical implementation of his methods.   Allan’s message: It’s not too late. But we’re running out of time. See his Institute for more on how to make an impact: https://savory.global To DONATE to the Behind Greatness podcast, please visit here: https://behindgreatness.org. 137. Jim Estill – CEO, Danby / Tech Entrepreneur / Philanthropist – Leading an Integrated Life

Jim joins us from his home in Guelph, a city just west of Toronto. Jim is currently the owner and CEO of Danby Appliances, a leader in their industry in North America with 2 million small large appliances produced each year. Prior to this Jim founded and ran a $2 billion technology company and retired early at age 53 - only to come back to run and then purchase Danby 7 years ago. We learn from Jim about painting houses in order to make ends meet while he worked on his tech start-up, studying engineering while his heart wasn’t in it and having parents who feared for his inclination to run his own business. But, we also learn about his thoughts on the philosophy of failure, employing manners (from his mother) as a comparative advantage, being an active agent through the power of “while”, gratitude journaling – and shovelling driveways while running a billion dollar company. We discuss his lived experience on leveraging a lack of focus, his profound need to help his fellow human beings and the anonymous gift that he wishes to keep giving. Hear also what creativity means to him and what he imagines as his dying words when his time comes. Salt of the earth. And if this talk floats your boat, have a listen as well to Doug Putman (ep 119), Carol Stewart (ep 86) and Mike Fata (ep 77). 136. Jeremy Taggart – Former Drummer @ Our Lady Peace (OLP) / Broadcaster / Author / Podcaster – Hearing Where Things Can Go

Welcome back to Behind Greatness. We are joined today by Jeremy Taggart. Jeremy was the original drummer for Our Lady Peace - a famed Rock band from Toronto. Jeremy grew up as the baby in the family in challenging and turbulent family circumstances. His one constant was baseball, and the dream of a successful pro baseball career – until it changed after he picked up a pair of used sticks as a teenager. He became a legitimate rockstar at the age of 17 in the early 1990s after he beat out 100 other would-be auditioning drummers for the part in the band. Soon after, he was touring the globe with his bandmates as the band tore up the scene and made a mark for themselves album after album. We learn about his dad’s advice, drive, discipline, the magic of live performance and being in union with the crowd. We talk about his experience in being “given gifts” when plugged into the ether – and his curiosity about sound in another dimension. To round it off, Jeremy shares a mind-altering story of time travelling through an OBE (out of body experience) when he was jamming with his band and how that opened up a portal of more of the same. M.i.nd. A.l.t.e.r.i.n.g. A fun, honest and open chat with an explorer.   See similar discussions with two other musician explorers Raine Maida (ep. 65) and Wynton Marsalis (ep 126). 135. Dr. Pim van Lommel (MD) – Cardiologist / NDE Researcher / Author - Asking Questions with an Open Mind

Dr. van Lommel joins us from his home in the Netherlands. Pim is a retired Cardiologist, an Author and a Scientist globally known for his work on the study of Near Death Experiences (NDE) and the examination of consciousness beyond life. He was a young cardiologist starting out his career when a patient of his became irritated with him after he revived him from a cardiac arrest. His patient’s memories of his existence got him curious enough to do his own study in the 80s. His curiosity pushed him to conduct a formal 10 year study of cardiac patients whose consciousness seemed to survive after clinical death of their bodies – during their NDEs. We also cover how and why his best selling book about Consciousness Beyond Life is also part of the highschool curriculum in the Netherlands and why the discussions that it prompts should now also make their way in the curricula everywhere else in the Western world. We hear from Pim about the importance of real scientific curiosity and the need to expand science to include the subjective experience - and how this is has been in struggle with “willful ignorance” within the medical community. We discuss great scientists as mystics and the correlation of dreaming to consciousness unbound by the body – and the large absolute numbers of population in the Western world that actually has experienced NDEs and how we need to break through the current cultural taboos in the West of sharing these human experiences.       This listen should be accompanied by the listen of ep 69 with Dr Bruce Greyson and of the amazing NDE experiences of Dr Tony Cicoria (ep 55) and Natalie Sudman (ep 97).   To DONATE to the Behind Greatness podcast, please visit here: https://behindgreatness.org. 134. Dr. Helané Wahbeh – Director of Research @ IONS / Author / Trance Channeler – Wanting to Know What You Don’t Know

Welcome back to Behind Greatness. We are joined by Helané Wahbeh from her home on the US West Coast. Helané acts as the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), which was founded by astronaut Edgar Mitchell 50 years ago. Mitchell was an engineer and had a mystical experience while he was in space and decided to found this Institute to spend time exploring and finding evidence of the reality of consciousness. This is her playground. And, she’s also the President of the Parapsychological Association. She talks to us about the importance of the “Noetic handshake” – the marrying of science and of inner knowing, which forms the impetus of her studies and her being. She explains how she was motivated more than ever to “know what she doesn’t know” after she was told not to scientifically explore themes on a research project that she was advancing as a young scientist. We also discuss her upbringing with people who were not afraid to explore the mystical and her personal commitment to meditation and trance-channelling. Helané lets us know that we may all be in the “channelling closet” and that our capacities are more expansive than we think. Bringing your fullness. 133. Br. Guy Consolmagno – Chief Astronomer, Vatican Observatory / Author - Having Fun With the Ideas

Welcome back to Behind Greatness. We are joined by Brother Guy Consolmagno from the Vatican. Br. Guy is a Jesuit and is the Director of the Vatican Observatory and the President of the Vatican Observatory Foundation. He is often referred to as the “Pope’s Astronomer” as he reports directly to the Pontiff. We learn about his upbringing in Detroit and his early curiosities, getting into science for the wrong reasons, living in Kenya and then coming back to science and eventually joining the Jesuits later in his life. We discuss the importance of the 3 pillars that he must be devoted to: poverty, chastity and obedience – and which of the pillars he has the most difficulty with. Oh, there’s more. We hear about the marvelous desolation of Antarctica. And we hear answers to questions on the Vatican having an Observatory in the first place, on baptizing Extraterrestrials, on understanding ourselves through the universe and on his childlike approach to exploration. We talk the sparks of joy, the joy of discovery, Bob Dylan, the fun with asking the questions and the fun in spreading the ideas.   Giving a nostalgic thanks to our past guests Denis Molin (ep4), Max Catricala (ep6) and Meganne Christian (ep10). 132. Dr. Jeffrey Rediger, MD - Psychiatrist / Best Selling Author - Breaking Away From Old Beliefs

Dr Jeffrey Rediger is a Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. Jeffrey grew up in the Midwest in a very conservative Amish tradition and in a violent environment. As the oldest of his siblings he became rebellious and broke away from his environment, always bent on searching for answers of his existential questions. It brought him to study in a seminary (for his Masters of Divinity) and then to Medical School. These two types of training methods, while diametrically opposed - asking and exploring open-ended questions vs. working through the problem sets - brought him to a place of realization that has been informing him all his life. He brings us through a heart-wrenching story of a sudden and tragic death of a loved one, and the lessons it served for opening him up to the “invisible world”. We talk about how that invisible world is real, how the healing of false beliefs is key to a more expansive existence and how the body keeps score of it all. He shares his experience with the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California – the birthplace of the human potential movement. And he elaborates on his dying of the old ways of being that he was wedded to. To DONATE to the Behind Greatness podcast, please visit here: https://behindgreatness.org. 131. Dr. Courtney Brown – Mathematician, Social Scientist / Remote Viewing Scholar - Committing to Full Disclosure

Welcome back to Behind Greatness. Courtney joins us from his studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Courtney is a mathematician and social scientist, a professor at Emory University in Atlanta. He is also the only professor on the planet who researches and publically discusses both Remote Viewing and Extra Terrestrials. After learning about the CIA’s remote viewing program led by Russell Targ (ep 80), Courtney dove in and became fascinated with the science. He found that the military was not interested in how it works, but only how to make it better. This approach was far too limiting for Courtney. Starting 30 years ago, he and his Farsight Institute developed their own procedures and scientific exploration around Remote Viewing and the active study of non-local consciousness. And man oh man, have they been exploring. He discusses the challenges and limitations of modern classical physics, our physical reality as frequencies and energy, and adjusting our “tuner” to view across time and space. We hear from him the reason why academia and mainstream science resist and how they went from ridicule about this subject to now existing in a state of “waiting to exhale”. We learn from Courtney about the successes of authoritarian control over populations and how the brave (like several messengers who have been past guests on this podcast) are the exception rather than the rule. We learn his take on human beings as “ISBEs” and the urgent need for us to shift our beliefs. He further intrigues us about the discussion on how death, once viewed as an escape from oppressive regimes is now believed to be a place of traps and recycling back (reincarnation). Courtney’s mission is focused on full disclosure and societal understanding of the reality of our Truman Show-like existence … and the understanding that it is in each and every one of us to have the capacity to see through it, defend against it and move beyond it.       Courtney does not hold back.    To DONATE to the Behind Greatness podcast, please visit here: https://behindgreatness.org.
