Ed and I are honored to have Chris “Elroy” Stricklin back on the show for the third time. We will be discussing his new book, released October 1, 2019, Survivor’s Obligation: Navigating an Intentional Life. Chris Stricklin ejected from the F-16 he was piloting during a Thunderbirds air show. Joel Neeb was diagnosed with a rare and often fatal cancer. Against the odds, both survived. We are honored to have the opportunity to interview George Gilder for a third time. Writer, economist, technology advocate, and co-founder of the Discovery Institute, Georges latest book is Life After Google: The Fall of Big Data and the Rise of the Blockchain Economy. His 1981 international bestseller, Wealth and Poverty, advanced a practical and moral case for supply-side economics and capitalism during the early months of the Reagan Administration and made him President Reagans most quoted living author. In 2013 he published Knowledge and Power: The Information Theory of Capitalism and How It is Revolutionizing Our World, which reformulated economics in terms of the information theory of Alan Turing and Claude Shannon. Ron says: George Gilder is the most profound thinker I have ever encountered, and his insights of how an economy creates wealth permeate The Soul of Enterprise. Every century needs an Adam Smith, and Gilder is ours for the twentieth and twenty-first.

In May 1997, George Gilder delivered The Soul of Silicon to the Vatican, at a conference arranged and coordinated by the Acton Institute. Ron, who is a devotee of all of Gilders writings, believes that this is one of the most profound pieces George has ever written. We are excited to welcome back on the show Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy in the UK. Rory has delivered several TED talks, along with many others, including our favorite, a Zeitgeist talk he delivered to Google. They are all incredibly thought-provoking, and rooted in behavioral, and Austrian, economics. In his spare time, Rory collects self-aggrandizing job titles. He was President of the Direct Jury at Cannes in 2007, and was elected President of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in 2009 for two years, where his message was that advertising agencies needed a better understanding of how humans behave, not just how advertising works.
