MBP #118 Opiuo
Opiuo is a genre-bending plethora of auditory and visual masterclasses. Born in 1984 in rural New Zealand, his parents provided the land upon which music festivals were held. This extremely formative growth surrounded by the early incarnations of Aotearoa’s electronic music scene exposed him to the celebration of life through self-expression, dance, and giant sound systems. These experiences shaped so much of who he is & what he stands for today. Positivity and movement at the core of the project, his music is an infectious electronic based blend of funk, soul, psychedelia, and booty-shaking bass.
Now calling Australia home, Oscar tours his party-starting music throughout the globe. Having spent more than a decade performing at some of the world's most renowned festivals and venues including Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Coachella, as well as selling out Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, he’s performed his music in an unimaginably large array of formats. From the self-built SYZYGY Orchestras, to symphony choirs, touring his own Opiuo Band, and most recently as an immersive solo audio & visual show, his live creativity is limitless.
Taking home the New Zealand Music Award for Best Electronic Album in 2014, his catalogue is vast. Having released 4 full-length albums, 10 EPs, and a myriad of singles and remixes over the last 12 years. His 5th studio album is titled “A Shape Of Sound” and is on the way this August. His most diverse, expansive, and detailed yet. MBP #117 Freddy Todd
^^photo credit goes to Evan Glicker @sattadondada (IG) for @isometricmag ^^ An interstellar cyber-funk bass champion, Freddy Todd has no time to waste in this galaxy. Born & raised in metro-Detroit, he found his way into the matrix at age 14, slowly understanding the intricacies of glitch found within Windows XP. After being bestowed a keytar from his main homie (his dad) at 22, he has continued to shred not only the minds of his fans but the evil vibes throughout the world. Freddy Todd is a psychedelic hyper throw down party for the people, and something to be witnessed and enjoyed at full volume… but also medium volume works (protect your ears). For the past decade, Freddy has played all over the realm from Australia to Canada to his main circuit in the United States. Notable performances include Red Rocks, Coachella, EDC Chicago, Okeechobee, Electric Forest, Shambala, Burning Man, on an airplane wing at a rave in the forest outside Portland, the Detroit Masonic Temple, and many others. Catch him at Electric Forest 2023 this summer along with many more soon to be announced festivities. “Freddy Todd, EDM producer, musician, and probable shapeshifter who has visited the golden idols of the moon…” -Duncan Trussell, 2019 Freddy Todd Links: Website: http://www.freddytodd.com Twitter, IG, FB, & tik tok: @freddytoddmusic SC:https://m.soundcloud.com/freddytodd Bandcamp:https://freddytodd.bandcamp.com DONATE TO ALS FOUNDATION: https://donate.als.org Mr. Bill’s Links: https://live.mrbillstunes.com/ https://discord.gg/ySjhgWQ https://mrbill.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/MrBillsTunes Podcast Produced & Edited by: https://twitter.com/303FuMo

MBP #116 DMVU & Little Snake
Better known by his musical alias DMVU, Denver based producer Matthew Phillpot-Jones continues to etch his own indelible mark into the future of electronic music. From a young age, Jones’ always displayed an unmistakable inclination towards music. An only child of two musically gifted parents, Jones grew up in an environment in which he was constantly exposed to a diverse selection of music, and quickly learned to play the piano and drums very early on in his adolescent years. Infatuated by the hip hop culture of the late 90s and early 2000s, Jones traded in the drumsticks for a copy of FL Studio, hoping to test his hand at emulating the beats that were so instrumental during his teenage years. Citing unmistakable influence derived from the rich underground dance music scene native to Colorado, Jones soon graduated from hip-hop and redirected his artistic focus on producing bass music - a critical turning point in his ascent that ended up proving to be pivotal in the project’s life cycle. DMVU Links: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/dmvu Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DMVUofficial Twitter: https://twitter.com/dmvuofficial Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/DMVUofficial/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dmvuofficial Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/59DcOmdlmKUgsUrb2S7Nb6?si=ryALApDTRhaMZ4Cnu8TLGQ Soundcloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/R9bhq With a seemingly endless variety of influences, including microsound, math rock and digital cumbia. Little Snake's work creates freeform ties between many spectral palettes, although it was typically bound by its dark aesthetic, intricate sonic structure, and attention to textural experimentation, loosely bound by dance-friendly electronic backgrounds. Playing Berghain, running up GTA radio and making freeform experiments with Amon Tobin are the usual for the Canada-based producer. In addition to the thousands of vocal samples and phrases in her "Light and Shadow" library, Mimi sound designed dozens of ambient pads and drones, all created from her own voice. In addition to her professional career, Mimi’s passionate about sharing her musical knowledge through education. Mimi was a featured mentor for Warren Huart’s award-winning online series, "Produce Like a Pro", and has worked with UCLA and ADIDAS Sound Labs as a mentor and artist development coach for high school students. She has taught masterclasses at universities and educational institutions across the country, and aims to inspire others to use music as a tool for healing and self-expression. MBP #110 Mux Mool
The discography of Mux Mool may as well be a genre unto itself. Although something of an unsung hero, he’s spent the last two decades formulating a sound that has influenced an entire generation of producers. Mux Mool’s fusion between hip-hop and electronic music exhibits an elusive cohesion of concept. His discography as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts, championed by entities including Ghostly International, Pretty Lights Music and Adult Swim. Mux Mool is a living, breathing, eccentric artist stereotype. Born Brian Lindgren in St. Paul, Minnesota to a folk singer mother and painter father, he resonated with video game music more than anything he heard on the radio as a child. In high school he discovered electronic music acts like Chemical Brothers and Sasha & Digweed. In 1998, he started producing music but waited until 2006 to release his first track "Lost and Found" which was named one of iTunes 'Best Electronic Songs' of that year alongside Flying Lotus & Justice. It also gained enough traction on MySpace Music to prompt none other than Bassnectar to request the stems to one of his songs. More importantly, it landed him on the radar of Moodgadget A&R. In 2009 Mux Mool toured throughout the United States and in 2010 he released his first studio-length album, "Skulltaste" on Ghostly International. A song from the effort titled “Get Better John” remains his most successful track to date, garnering 2.5 million plays on Spotify. From 2010 to 2011 he added tour dates alongside Bassnectar, Break Science and Lotus to his résumé. He then followed up his first release with the album "Planet High School" in 2012 and "Appetite for Production" in 2014. More recently, Mux Mool has collaborated and performed with Derek Vincent Smith A.K.A. Pretty Lights. In addition, he and fellow producer Michael Menert went on to launch Super Best Records, signing acts including Krooked Drivers (now Maddy O'Neal) and Late Night Radio. Mux Mool's newest album Skulltaste II dropped on July 10th, 2020. MBP #109 EAZYBAKED
Emerging from America’s grassroots electronic scene, EAZYBAKED is compelling listeners and contemporaries with its charismatic, contemporary take on Bass music. Eric Ray and Andrew Principe’s bond dates back 15 years to childhood playgrounds. Following their discovery of DAWs in Senior year of highschool, the two began making beats together daily under the monikers ‘EAZY’ and ‘Mr. Baked.’ Recognizing their chemistry and ability to cocreate, Principe and Ray joined forces to become one as EAZYBAKED. Inspired by acts like Flume, Tsuruda, and Mr Carmack, the two have created a sonic identity that is experimental, raw, and honest. They first emerged alongside Lost Dogz collective acts like sumthin’ sumthin’ and Player Dave. Today, EAZYBAKED has become a household name across the nationwide Bass scene by pushing underground music and its sonic boundaries. To date, the duo has been booked for eclectic venues such as Red Rocks, and performed high-profile festival sets at EDC Orlando, Okeechobee Music Festival, and more. Following their biggest performance to date at Okeechobee in 2020, the global pandemic and birth of Principe’s child inspired the duo to expand their horizons. This led to the creation of the duo’s upcoming debut album, INTERTWINED, due out March 4, 2022.
