In this episode, April and Jeremy are joined by award-winning rapper and producer J. Crum. We listen to some of his new single "Clarity" and talk about what inspired the song and his deconstruction. His story from growing up in a Oneness Pentecostal Church to spending a few years in Master's Commission to where he is now is a fascinating and sometimes enraging journey. Then they discuss Pastor Matt Chandler and how he called deconstruction just a "sexy thing to do." The story J. Crum tells in this episode shows that deconstruction is anything but sexy. Paul, April and Jeremy discuss the Southern Baptist Convention's decision to have a closed investigation of the more than 700 sexual abuse cases within SBC churches. The messengers wanted an open investigation and full transparency of all findings, and the higher ups at the SBC voted against the will of the people to protect themselves. So, they discuss the implications of this and how widespread abuse is in churches beyond the SBC.
