237: Shifting Gears and Rethinking the Boundaries of Retirement with Richard Haiduck

Today, I’m speaking with Richard Haiduck. Richard is a real-life retiree not just living out their dream, but helping so many others elevate their experience in retirement. He’s challenged the boundaries of his own retirement, using the freedom of the blank slate to prioritize what matters most to him. In his book, Shifting Gears, he speaks to 50 Baby Boomers about their journeys into the world of retirement. If there’s one thing he’s learned, it’s that retirees have an unbelievable amount of freedom and a wide range of choices, whether that means summiting Mount Kilimanjaro at the age of 70 after two hip surgeries or simply volunteering and reading books.  In today’s conversation, Richard and I talk about the artificial boundaries of retirement, how he found the people and stories he decided to include in his book, creating amazing family businesses, and the beauty of being able to walk away from what doesn’t serve you. GET A FREE COPY OF RICHARD’S BOOK, SHIFTING GEARS. Here's all you have to do... Step 1.) Subscribe to the podcast and leave an honest rating & review over on iTunes. Step 2.) 234: Creating a Purposeful Work Life in Retirement with Bob Foley

Today, I’m speaking with Bob Foley. Bob has helped launch billion-dollar companies, several nonprofits, and worked for many major brands in the country. His current venture and sole focus is Legacy Transition Coaching, where he helps his clients focus on the non-financial aspects of retirement, to let go of their corporate identities, and create a new life on their own terms.  Bob thinks about retiring with purpose and his work from a remarkably specific angle. He’s uniquely focused on helping answer questions of lifestyle, tackling issues of ageism, and navigating life and work after the loss of a spouse or partner–among many other issues affecting retirees today. In this conversation, Bob shares the story of his unique journey into the world of retirement coaching, proposes new ideas and concepts for people transitioning out of full-time careers (especially when leaving the corporate world), and how to create more meaning, purpose and balance in life at any age. 231: Making a Successful Transition into Retirement with Joe Casey

Today, I’m speaking with Joe Casey. Joe is an Executive Coach and Retirement Coach with extensive experience navigating transitions, both in his own life and with his clients. At the age of 52, he retired early from his career in Human Resources at Merrill Lynch to become an executive coach. Since then, he has dedicated his life to helping people create successful second act careers and get the most out of their retirement. Joe earned his coaching certification from Columbia University and is a Certified Retirement Coach through Retirement Options. He is also a Certified Designing Your Life Coach through Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, authors of Designing Your Life. In today’s episode, Joe and I dig into the different types of coaching he offers and how he is helping so many people successfully transition into retirement. We also discuss some reasons why so many people are afraid of retiring instead of embracing it, and the incredible potential that the largest generation in history has right now to make an impact in the world today for future generations. 228: Why Retirement Is NOT the Goal with Kary Oberbrunner

Today, I’m speaking with Kary Oberbrunner. Kary is the CEO of Igniting Souls Publishing Agency. He’s also an author, coach, and international speaker who helps people clarify who they are, why they’re here, and where they’re going so they can become souls on fire, experience unhackability, and share their message with the world. In the past twenty years, he’s ignited over one million people with his content and trained over 250,000 Authors, Coaches, Speakers, and Entrepreneurs. In my previous conversations with Kary, we’ve talked about his books, Day Job to Dream Job and Unhackable. However, this conversation is going to be a little bit different. I recently found a video he posted in 2018 called “Why is the Goal NOT Retirement?” and I knew that I needed to talk to him about it. In this episode, Kary and I dig into his unique views of true retirement. We talk about the link between our jobs and our health, and the power of living a life with purpose and freedom at any age.
