Dr. Sam Faramarzi: Discovering the Power of Conscious Connection in Holistic Healing
What if you could heal your body by healing your emotional and mental health, first? In this episode of The Darin Olien show, we unravel the intricate links between physical ailments and emotional and mental health. Dr. Sam shares her unique perspective on the manifestation of symptoms as a result of suppressed truths. She explains the role of Qigong, a Chinese form of energetic medicine in unveiling these unspoken truths. We float into discussions about spiritual connection and personal growth, highlighting the importance of self-awareness and its revelations. Dr. Sam also walks you through practical tips to improve your biochemistry, brain activity, and mindset, encompassing everything from journaling to detoxification. We end our enlightening discourse reflecting on the value of conscious connection, the power of embracing growth, and the need to cherish our fleeting time. Dr. Saman Faramarzi (also known as Dr. Sam), is the Founder of SAFA Life and Wellness. She is also the leading Naturopathic Doctor at Remedy Place. She received her doctorate from Bastyr University, one of the nation's top ND programs. She has over 10 years of clinical experience, specializing in nutritional biochemistry, the microbiome, mind-body medicine, and intravenous therapy. What we discuss: (0:00:00) - Exploring Naturopathic Medicine and Healing (0:08:49) - Addressing Obstacles and Nourishing the Body (0:14:23) - Spiritual Connection and Personal Growth (0:31:00) - Cultivating Energy and Connection (0:34:51) - Exploring Qigong, Gratitude, and Detoxification (0:50:37) - Conscious Men and Quality Supplements (1:02:40) - Embracing Growth and Appreciating Time Key takeaways: We are constantly being fed things from both our inner and outer world that create an inbalance in us and which we're not properly addressing. This means we are storing the burden of negative emotions in our body in addition to the chemicals that we are exposed to in the outer world. As a result, certain body parts can't break down these negative emotions and toxins because the cup is too full and it's not getting drained properly. For example, our liver tends to take on anger and resentment, in addition to certain toxins such as mold. The reason we are all depleted is because we're not nourishing our mind and our soul. We have been thought to take care of this physical body and no one's taught us that we have to take care of our energetic body and our spirit body as well. Spirit controls energy, which controls matter and it's a powerful thing that goes bi-directionally; matter controls energy, which controls spirit as well. Many of us look for our happiness in other people. We look at our significant others, our kids, and even our pets as a source of joy and happiness. However, this is the wrong place to look for and depend on for real happiness because they can disappear at any second. Plus, this puts an immense pressure on the people you love. Depending on people for happiness depletes them of their own energy in order to make ourselves vital. 3 Simple Ways to Hydrate Optimally for Better Health
Did you know 75% of people living in the United States suffer from dehydration? This causes fatigue, brain fog, irritability, hormonal issues, poor digestion, and lack of proper functioning of different systems in your body, and more. In fact, your body can't always differentiate between your feelings of hunger and thirst. Which means, when you feel hungry, it could actually mean you're just thirsty. Confusing these feelings can lead to excess food intake and unwanted weight gain. Although most people will use sports drinks and regular tap water to hydrate themselves, these are not the most effective ways to do it and come with certain effects that affect our health. Therefore, we must look for safer and healthier alternatives to prevent dehydration. That's what we explore in this episode of Fatal Conveniences Solution edition. What I discuss: 02:24: How big of a problem is dehydration? 08:42: What are the benefits of proper hydration? 09:30: What are my top 3 choices for remineralizing your water? Reliable Sources where you can learn more: 7 ways to stay hydrated. Tracy Duhs: The Science of Water + The 9 Basic Pillars for Transforming Your Health
Have you ever reflected on the profound impact of water on your health? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Tracy Duhs who explains how our bodies are a symphony of water molecules that define our bone and cell structures. Tracy's insights on the significance of basic health habits like grounding ourselves with the earth and nurturing relationships beautifully underscore the holistic nature of well-being. Plunging further into our exploration, we delve into the complex chemistry of water and discuss its bioenergetic frequency profile. Tracy educates us on the importance of drinking water that resonates with our biological water body and the magic of natural spring water. Tracy also shares tips on creating a sacred sleep space and the benefits of movement for our bodies. We delve into the transformative power of creative playtime, mindfulness, and plant medicines in furthering self-understanding. Tracy works as a modern wellness advocate specializing in the restorative powers of intelligent hydration. She has parlayed her wealth of experience and knowledge into a multi-dimensional career in wellness advocacy and education, starting with her podcast, HYDRATE. Tracy frequently consults large corporations and hotels to help build and facilitate wellness experiences. She also serves as the Director of the International Brain Summit. She is the founder of the Sanctuary Wellness Experience in San Diego and co-founder of Hydrate at the Sanctuary. What we discuss: 02:28: Why did Tracy want to write this book? 08:14: What's the issue with school for our children? 11:03: Where did Tracy's interest in water come from? 18:58: What is the latest thing Tracy learned about water? 27:28: What would Tracy do to educate people more about water? 31:08: How can we restructure water? 36:31: What are the nine pillars of health? 39:56: What is Tracy's mindfulness practice like? 49:02: What is Tracy's bedtime regimen? 51:50: Where can you learn more about Tracy? Key takeaways: Restructuring your water doesn't have to be expensive - you can do it with a few simple steps at home with things you already have. A few easy ways include adding sea salt to the water. As a result, the water's molecular structure can be altered or organized in a way that enhances its properties. The same can be said about stirring your water with a spoon; this movement helps recharge your water at the frequency your body needs. Lastly, speaking to your water before you drink it also helps alter the water's frequency so that it is coherent with what your body needs. Water may be clear, but it's so much more than its chemistry - Its frequency profile has to be coherent with your body for it to properly benefit you. To learn if the water you are drinking resonates with you and your body, pause and acknowledge how the water you ingested is making you feel right after you drink it. Does it make you feel thirsty? Does it make you feel hydrated? Does it make you feel happy? If you don't feel hydrated after drinking water, then the frequency of the water you are drinking is not coherent with what your body needs at that moment. Water, food, information, conversations, environments, and sleep are only a few things among the nine pillars of health that we tend to forget about in today's modern society. These are simple, basic pillars we can easily take control of and optimize. Making small changes to your daily habits could be the key to upgrading your vitality. Alice Chun: How to Transform Your Childhood Pain to Power With Social Entrepreneurship
Are you passionate about the stuff you do to make a living? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Alice Chun about her passion to help those who are in need around the world, through social entrepreneurship. While her passion to help others in need and reduce humanity's carbon footprint didn't work out in the non-profit world, it is tremendously successful as a socially responsible for-profit company. With 1.6 billion people who live without access to electricity around the world, her solar-powered lightbulbs are making a difference for people all around the world. Alice also shares what ambitions and dreams she has for this purpose-driven company of hers and how her childhood helped her become the resilient entrepreneur she is today. Alice Chun is the cofounder and CEO of Solight Design and the inventor of the SolarPuff, the world's only self-inflatable, portable solar light. She's won numerous awards, including the U.S. Patent Award for Humanity. Her products have been exhibited at MOMA in New York City. Chun was previously a Professor of Architecture and Material Technology at Columbia University and a Professor of Design and Material Culture at Parsons the New School. What we discuss: 14:09: To what degree are we all inner-connected? 23:30: What is the issue with the big non-profit organizations? 27:05: How did Hillary Clinton help Alice's mission? 33:34: What is the symbolic value of Alice's product? 37:46: What are some of the challenges that Alice faced in her life? 48:18: What was Alice's process for building her product? 57:42: What is Alice's dream? 59:51: Where can we learn more about Alice? Key takeaways: The sun is the most powerful source of energy on this Earth - but the biggest source of light in this Universe is the one within you. This light within you is the light that will give you the strength to get through obstacles, to fight for what you believe in, and make the change you want to see. And no matter how hard it may be to feel that light within you on some days, you have the comfort of knowing that the sun always comes back up the next day - the light will always come back. When you are working towards creating something that is better than you, greater than you, and more important than you, it takes a lot of courage. Because of that, a lot of people wait until they find this courage before they start putting in the work to bring their ideas to life. However, that's the wrong way to do it. See, if you really believe in this idea you have and are really passionate about it, you will find that courage to take on this project will come naturally as you get started. At least, that's the case for most social entrepreneurs. The History of Antibiotics | Fatal Conveniences™
Did you know the history of antibiotics dates back to 350-550 AD? In this episode of Fatal Convenience, join me as we uncover the awe-inspiring journey of these life-saving drugs and discuss their double-edged sword nature. We delve deep into the origins of antibiotics, from ancient times to Louis Pasteur's immense contributions, and emphasize the urgent need for responsible use, informed decision-making, and self-care in today's world. Sonya Takau and Phil Rist: The Truth About How We Take Care Of Our Aboriginal People
Why aren't we doing more for our aboriginal people? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I discuss with Sonya and Phil from Process Unite the different issues Aboriginal people are still facing in Australia. From societal perceptions to standards of living, a lot has not changed in terms of how we treat Aboriginal people despite proclaiming progress. Sonya and Phil also chat about how many governments tend to compartmentalize the environment and the land they have built on, which comes with some heavy consequences. Sonya and Phil represent the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation. It is located at Cardwell, halfway between Townsville and Cairns in north Queensland. The corporation represents the interests of traditional owners from nine tribal groups: Bandjin, Djiru, Girramay, Gugu Badhun, Gulnay, Jirrbal, Nywaigi, Warrgamay, and Warungnu. What we discuss: 04:01: How was it like for Sonya and Phil to be on Down to Earth? 06:32: What are Sonya and Phil's focus on these days? 15:49: What would be the things Sonya and Phil want to get past? 21:31: How are people justifying not helping Aboriginal people? 25:39: What is the truth about the way Aboriginal people are living in Australia? 38:45: What are the young people's points of view of this reality? 55:49: How can we support Sonya and Phil's efforts? 58:19: How important are the animals and plants to the Aboriginal people? 1:07:48: What is the impact of compartmentalizing the environment? Find more from Darin: Website: https://darinolien.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Darinolien/ Book: https://darinolien.com/fatal-conveniences-book/ Down to Earth: https://darinolien.com/down-to-earth/ Find more from Sonya and Phil: Website: https://www.girringun.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/girringunaboriginalcorp/ More links: Shop Truth Treatments at https://truth360pro.com/collections/frontpage?ba=c-darin-olien Shop Methodology at https://www.gomethodology.com/ and use the code DARIN at checkout. Takeaways: Most of what we think we know about our aboriginal people is not true and was fed to you by some political news outlet. While racism tends to be the main reason why we're not informed on the reality of our Aboriginal people, it shouldn't be the reason we stay ignorant about them. We can get out of our way and fact-check what it is we are being told that our governments are doing for our aboriginal people. So why don't we do it? When you think "I'll just take what I need" instead of "I'll take what there is", you're helping the environment. However, the reality is we often think the latter. At least, that is the case in a first-world country. But there is a small percentage of people who live in first-world countries that think the opposite way: aboriginal people. See, our environment is perfectly balanced to offer us everything we need to survive. Aboriginal people know that hence why they only pick what they need from nature. But us colonizers, we don't know how to do that - and because of that, we're imposing the consequences of OUR actions on these people.

How Corporations Can Help Promote Sustainable Consumption | Douglas Sabo, Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa
Did you know there are over 6,000 transactions per SECOND? That's a whole lot of consumption going on. Now, can you imagine what a difference it would make if only 1/10 of those purchases were made on sustainable products and brands? In this episode of The Darin Olien Show, I chat with Douglas Sabo, Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa about their sustainability efforts to diminish the carbon footprint emitted from the consumption propelled by their brand. From developing the Green Bonds Framework to reporting back on their sustainability efforts and partnering with brands that make sustainability accessible for consumers, Visa is working hard to ensure we are moving forward towards a greener planet. Douglas Sabo is Chief Sustainability Officer at Visa Inc. In this role, Sabo leads the development and oversight of Visa's global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts, including Visa's ESG strategy, framework, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Sabo also leads Visa's initiatives in environmental sustainability, human rights, and other areas of responsible business. In sustainability, Sabo's work includes building out Visa's initiatives in the company's operations as well as in empowering sustainable living and commerce. What we discuss: 06:36: Doug's involvement in Down To Earth 08:36: How did Doug end up at Visa? 14:28: What is Doug most excited about? 18:15: How does sustainability fit into Visa's efforts? 31:30: What green credit cards does Visa associate with? 35:54: What is the Green Bond framework? 40:34: How important is corporate accountability? 54:09: Where is the next sustainability opportunity? 57:32: What kind of collaboration is happening among industries and brands for sustainability? Key Takeaways: Oftentimes, corporations are guilty of greenwashing and tricking consumers into believing they're making a good decision by picking these brands. While the truth tends to come to light at some point, corporate accountability ensures they are doing what they claim to do. Brands and industries must collaborate and cooperate to reduce their emission footprint. While it has started happening, it tends to get very competitive as certain brands compete close to each other. However, cooperating and collaborating in this way allows them to change landscapes and move forward. Moving forward is the antidote to changing towards a better world. While most of our consumption is unsustainable, it doesn't mean it has to be like that or stay that way. Finding solutions and implementing solutions is the way to move forward toward a greener world. Antibiotics in Meat | Fatal Conveniences™
When it comes to animal agriculture, most animals aren't living freely pasturing in wide-spaced green areas. Breeders and animal farms are more likely to be torturous prisons than the happy Uncle Bill farm that appears on the logo of your favorite hamburgers. And guess what? It comes at a cost to your health. The animal industry is regulated differently by each country, but there's one thing in common: meat from sick animals can't be commercialized, but with the living conditions of the animals, they are inevitably going to get sick. So "naturally", the animals in farms are medically treated to prevent or combat infectious diseases, most of which are treated with antibiotics. You know the age-old saying: You are what you eat. So what happens to your health when the meat you are eating is pumped with antibiotics? This is what we explore in this episode of Fatal Conveniences™. What we discuss: 06:43: What are the dangers of antibiotic resistance? 08:07: How are these animals treated? 10:19: How is this a public health issue? 14:21: What can you do about it?
