Mick McDermott interviews Mark - Realities of living an expat life

Today’s episode is a little bit different in the sense that the tables were turned and it is an interview I did on the Mick McDermott podcast. Mick, who is a brilliant podcast host, is currently travelling around Ireland in his camper van, which he also lives in! He was kind enough to invite me into his humble abode for a chat and go into detail on my experiences living abroad and how that experience changed my life. I must admit, I’m not sure if it was the coffee I had before hand, or the amazing interview skills of Mick, but I spoke an awful amount of shite towards the end of this conversation, but it was all in good fun and thankfully Mick didn’t throw me out of the van!Mick’s Instagraminstagram.com/mick_mcdermott/Mick’s Podcasthttps://open.spotify.com/show/5mmQrqGjuqbCAHrhxs2OGcEmailalifeindublin@gmail.comOur Instagram Pageinstagram.com/a_life_in_dublin/ Hosted on Acast. Mollie from Dublin - The beauty of embracing Irish culture in a multicultural Ireland

Over the course of the last year, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to so many different people from all over the world. They’ve made me laugh and even sometimes cry but ultimately our guests have inspired me and taught me a much more beautiful perspective on life. Next year in 2024, I hope to continue the A Life in Dublin project, but to push it a little bit more so that it is benefitting as many people as possible. Our events that we run on a monthly basis have been incredible and I think the presence of a safe social space in Dublin, for people from all backgrounds is more important than ever. And I want this to be done in an Irish way. A way in which we can celebrate being in Ireland whilst at the same time celebrating the multicultural nature of Dublin as well. I’m excited about what is to come… and I hope you can stick with me on this journey to see where it ends up!In celebration of that Irishness, today I’m going to share an exert from one of our most popular episodes of the year. Mollie teaches Irish to thousands of people around the world through her online courses and she has an amazing perspective on the beauty of the Irish language and it’s place in modern Irish culture.Mollie’s Instagramwww.instagram.com/irishwithmollie/The Irish language and beauty Ted Talkhttps://www.ted.com/talks/donall_o_healai_the_irish_language_and_beauty_jan_2018Our Instagram Pageinstagram.com/a_life_in_dublin/Emailalifeindublin@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. Ross from Dublin - Irish culture and history, music scene in Ireland, retro revival and a lot more

Around about a year ago I found out that Arthur Guinness, famed creator of the black stuff, got married in the former church, current restaurant and bar, located on Mary Street in Dublin 1. Despite my many visits to this bar, I had no idea of this little piece of history which happened right in Dublin City Centre. I learned this from today’s guest Ross and I’ve subsequently learned all sorts of random and interesting facts about Irish culture and Irish history from his amazing page on Instagram. In this chat we learn a little more about the man behind the content and his journey which led him to take such an interest in history and his passion for sharing it with us all. If you haven’t heard of Ross before, check out his Instagram page, which you’ll find in the description of this episode and watch out for his new upcoming podcast.Ross’ Instagram Pagewww.instagram.com/talktoross/Emailalifeindublin@gmail.comOur Instagram Pageinstagram.com/a_life_in_dublin/ Hosted on Acast.
