Harry from Dublin - Hudson Taylor's Music Journey, a Search for Inner Meaning and Managing your Spiritual Life

Harry Hudson Taylor is a musician from Dublin, currently based in Berlin, who along with his brother Alfie, took their music all around the world and lived a life that one might typically think of when dreaming of the rock and roll lifestyle. We chat a bit about these experiences but this conversation is more about the different personal journeys that Harry has been on, both in terms of his career and his search for a deeper and more authentic sense of being. I hope you’ll appreciate the honesty that Harry offers in this chat and I’d personally like to thank him for giving us the time for a conversation that I really enjoyed. In the description of this episode you’ll find links to Harry’s socials, including a link to Ladybird Lad, a new solo project which Harry has put together. If you’d like to help support this podcast, you can check out our brand new patreon page at patreon.com/alifeindublin.Harry’s Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/harryhudtay/Harry’s Solo Project:instagram.com/ladybirdlad/Hudson Taylor:instagram.com/hudtaymusic/A Life in Dublininstagram.com/a_life_in_dublinNice quote/proverb mentioned in this podcast: “the mind is a wonderful servant but terrible master.” Hosted on Acast. Angela from Brazil - The Power of Hypnotherapy

Hello and Welome to A Life in Dublin. I’m your host Mark and with your permission we’d love this podcast to be your digital companion for the next little bit at least…Hypnosis is something that I have definitely been skeptical towards in the past but when Angela got in touch I was excited to find out more about it and open to discovering whether or not my skepticism was justified or not. In this conversation you’ll hear the journey that Angela has taken from her rural upbringings in Brazil, her passion and drive to always be learning and ups killing herself and how she settled in the place of Dublin and on the career of hypnotherapy. I really loved chatting to Angela. She’s a truly lovely person and I can see that her main objective in life is to help as many people as she can. She does a great job in explaining hypnotherapy to me and breaking down the walls of some of the preconceived notions or opinions we may have towards this form of therapy. Thanks so much to Angela for joining us and to all of you for listening. Caoi de Barra from Ireland - A Rising Star in the Irish Music Scene

Ireland is a very small Country perched on the West of Europe, which is well-known for a number of things but where we have always punched well above our weight was in the music domain. Our guest today, Caoi de Barra is a seriously talented musician with a phenomenal voice. We chat to her about the journey she has taken to become a professional musician, her creative process and the importance of community. Caoi is based in Berlin and gives us a good insight into the different culture that exists around creativity and art between Germany and Ireland. Personally, I feel extremely lucky to have been able to chat to Caoi. I recommend checking out her music which I’ll add a link to in the description of this episode. Mark and Eoin - Celebrating the 40 year anniversary of U2's album 'War'

Ireland’s biggest ever rock band, U2, released one of their most iconic album’s, entitled War, way back in 1983. To commemorate the 40 year anniversary of this album myself and Eoin decided to have a chat about the album itself and U2 in general. Somehow or another we got a little bit off topic and started asking ourselves who has aged better, Bono or Tom Cruise but we did get a good grip on what the album War meant for U2 and how it propelled them into the stadium rock legends that they inevitably became. As always thanks to you for listening and for all the warm messages and support that we get from you. This podcast truly has been a life changing hobby for myself and I hope to be able to continue to bring you lots of new episodes for the foreseeable future! Annie from Germany - exploring the poetry of Dublin's creative scene

Annie arrived in Dublin from Berlin in 2019 to study a masters in creative writing. Luckily she was able to enjoy Dublin in all of its vibrancy for 6 months before we had to batten down the hatches and enter lockdown. We don’t talk about the C word or what that experience was like for Annie as I think we all know the answers to those type of questions. We do, however, chat about what life has been like since the rebirth of society in early 2022. Annie tells us about her processes as an artist, primarily a poet and how she has found a community of like minded creatives here in the City. To follow Annie and read some of her poetry you can find a link to her instagram page in the description of this episode. Thanks to everyone for listening and to Olmo for hosting the show with me. Bev from South Africa - moving abroad with no money and how I survived

In this episode of the podcast we get to chat to Bev from South Africa. We recorded this episode a few months ago and because of the madness of setting up our live shows and various other worldly chores, we’re only getting to sharing it with you now but I am so pleased that it’s finally out in the world as it’s a great conversation.Bev has been in Ireland for quite a while and lived in the UK before moving here. We hear of her fascinating story of truly living on a shoestring budget when she first moved abroad and what that experience taught her. I like her story a lot because she has passed through the initial difficulties of the expat, immigrant whatever you want to call it, life and now finds herself settled in Ireland and calls it home. Thank you so much for listening guys. Please reach out to us and get in touch if you have any comments about the podcast or you just want to say hello. If you’d like to support what we’re doing that would be very much appreciated. Mark and Eoin - Learning about Irish culture through the TV series Father Ted

In this episode of the podcast myself and my good friend Eoin are going to have a chat about an Irish television show which became a cultural phenomenon. Sometimes there are creative works that perhaps take on more than the sum of their parts due to being propelled forward by the cultural zeitgeist which existed at the time. In this case, Father Ted rode that wave from the mid 1990’s all the way to current day Ireland. Myself and Eoin chat about how Father Ted triggered verbal meme’s before that was even a thing and whether or not the Father Ted phenomenon will continue to exist into the future as the Irish zeitgeist begins to change. Thanks again to you the listener for all your supportive messages. Robbie from Ireland - The comedy community in Dublin

Today’s episode was a live recording in front of an audience with the young and extraordinary talented Robbie Wild. I can’t say much more about the guy than my face was genuinely sore from laughing by the end of the night. He was brilliant and I think you’re going to love our chat with him. The night was topped off with some brilliant music and vocals from the Italian Cellist, Joy. All socials for both Robbie and Joy are in the description of this episode. Thanks again to you the listener for all your supportive messages. Edu from Brazil - overcoming adversity and starting a new life in a foreign country.

Something which I don’t think get’s enough if not any recognition from the majority of global populations is how difficult it is to uproot your life as an adult and begin again from zero in another Country, many even having to learn a new language in the process. Facing a challenge like that many would say could make or break a person, which depending on the circumstances could be true, but without doubt an experience abroad will shape the person you become. Edu talks to us about his experience of moving to Ireland 8 years ago and how he has navigated his way through life here. Like us all, his story has a number of ups and downs, but he’ll be the first to admit that his life in Ireland is a good one and he finds himself settled and content here.Edu has his own podcast called Irlanda Talkshow, links to which you can find in the description of this podcast. Thanks to all of you for listening. If you’re feeling generous, a review, rating or sharing with a friend would be extraordinarily helpful. instagram.com/irlandatalkshow/www.youtube.com/@IrlandaTalkShow Hosted on Acast.
