135: H. pylori-Skin Rash Connection

If you’ve followed along for a while now, you know that hidden bugs can be one of the root causes driving your skin rashes. H. pylori is one of those bugs that is often overlooked! Yes, there is an H. pylori-Skin Rash connection. Though most of the symptoms associated with H. pylori are gut-related, it’s entirely possible to have no GI symptoms and test positive for this bug. Plus, I’ve found that there are other health complaints beyond GI symptoms that could be clues to hidden H. pylori. In today’s episode, I want to share with you my own clinical experience and the research I’ve found connecting H. pylori and several skin rash conditions like eczema, hives, and psoriasis. In this episode: Client rashes triggered by hidden H. pylori infections What is H. pylori? What are the symptoms of H. pylori? H. pylori Rash Connections Why H. pylori can trigger rashes Testing options for H. pylori Quotes: One study found the incidence of H. pylori to be 72% positive in psoriasis participants. Unwanted bugs in the GI tract don’t always create GI symptoms, and that statement definitely applies to H. pylori.Ready to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

Join us as we discuss mold and mycotoxins. Have you dealt with black mold? Let me know in the comments! In this episode: Toréa's mold experience Mold myths Clearing up confusion about mold testing Food and mold Mycotoxins and skin conditions The importance of sweating Quotes “It's important to understand how sensitive you are. For some people it's just the fact that they're living in a moldy environment and they're getting the mycotoxins and they're getting sick from that, but they're not allergic to mold.” [9:11] “In order to address the mold, number one, detox pathways have to be open and efficient. So, having a practitioner that knows how to look at your liver processing, your GI processing, whether or not you can even sweat, that's going to be a huge component because we're detoxing stuff.” [16:17] Links Find Toréa online Download the FREE guide, How to Dig Deeper to Reverse Autoimmunity, HERE Follow Toréa on Facebook | InstagramReady to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

133: Ozonated Oil: Is It Good For Skin Rashes?

Have you ever heard of ozonated oil? Or maybe you’ve read about the benefits of ozonated olive oil for certain skin conditions? At first, I was skeptical so I decided to do my own research to find out if there was something special about adding ozone to plant oils. Turns out that some really cool research exists already on its antimicrobial capacity! I’m not sure that we fully understand the pro’s and con’s of ozonated oils for skin rashes at this point, but the research does seem to be promising. In today’s episode, I want to share some of the incredible things I’ve stumbled across so that you can decide if it’s something you want to give a try (after speaking with your doctor first). In this episode: What are ozonated oils + the benefits research has found so far Specific reasons why ozonated oils can be helpful Research on microbes impacted by ozonated oils Can ozonated olive oil help dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis? What you need to know before buying ozonated oil products Quotes: Ozone is definitely antimicrobial having the capacity to kill all sorts of microbes including bacteria, parasites, fungal organisms, viruses, and protozoa. When added to oils, there’s no concern about developing resistance. One study showed that “almost 100% of S. aureus were eliminated by ozonated oil following 5 min. Almost 100% MRSA were eliminated by ozonated oil following 15 min.”Ready to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

132: What is Topical Steroid Withdrawal? w/ Kathryn Tullos

Many steroid (topical, oral, etc.) users are not given clear guidelines for how to safely use their steroid. This can lead to a condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome (TSW), which can severely impact the skin and overall health.  My guest today, Kathryn Tullos is a Registered Nurse from Houston, Texas with a degree in Communications. She is a wife and mom of 4 kids - ages 14, 12, 10, and 9. In mid-2013, her son suffered severely from Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome (TSW) for 18 months, due to steroid creams prescribed for his eczema. Kathryn threw herself into patient advocacy to try to help others navigate this often misunderstood iatrogenic disease. She joined the ITSAN board in 2015, helped write and relaunch the ITSAN website, and eventually became Executive Director. She stepped down briefly in 2018, but she couldn’t stay away for long. Kathryn returned to ITSAN in October 2019 as President and CEO. Join us as we discuss Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome. Have you experienced Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome? Let me know in the comments! In this episode: What is Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome? Kathryn's son's experience Steroid creams and babies The first step if you think you may have TSW Quotes “Usually people will use topical steroid creams like over the counter cortisone creams, or mid to high potency, all the way up prescribed by their doctors for anywhere from a bug bite, or a reaction to cosmetics, or eczema. So you're treating an initial condition. And what happens with topical steroid withdrawal syndrome is that you become worse.” [2:12] “There are limits to these medications and we need to know what they are because I think everyone has potential to be affected if you use this too long, too many areas, without breaks.” [15:25] Links Find Kathryn online Donate to ITSAN Follow Kathryn on Facebook | Facebook | Twitter | InstagramReady to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

131: Mindset: What To Do When Nothing Seems To Help Your Rashes

Have you ever felt like a failure after trying thing after thing for your skin -- yet nothing seems to help? Why does it help everyone else BUT you? It just doesn’t seem fair. The truth is --  there’s a lot that doesn’t feel fair on the journey to resolve chronic skin rashes. Especially when it seems like nothing is helping you. Before you throw in the towel assuming that you’re just doomed, let’s talk about mindset. It’s one of the most critical pieces of the puzzle that is often overlooked as being too woo-woo. If you’re about ready to roll your eyes, hold up and give this a listen. You probably need to hear this the most! I’ve found that the right mindset is necessary to stay the course and see things in a light that fosters hope. In today’s episode, I’m sharing the tips I’ve learned along the way that have helped me personally as well as my clients get to the finish line. In this episode: If you’ve been feeling like nothing is working for you… My approach to mindset when things go wrong How long should you take to process disappointment The way to view things that don’t work (this will surprise you!) Quotes: Because you’re so focused on predicting failure before it even happens, you’ve shut yourself off to anything good or positive happening. Failures are opportunities to highlight a facet of the large complex web of moving pieces in your body and figure out where it needs support most.Ready to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

She also specializes in helping people with a range of digestive issues so that they can build a healthy microbiome. Her programs integrate functional and Chinese medicinal approaches. Let me know in the comments! In this episode: What is cortisol and where does it come from? Is there a relationship there between the stressors that we experience and the hormone that's released impacting the skin? How does inflammation affect the skin? Topical steroids How to find relief Quotes “In skin we know that multiple inflammatory conditions are either triggered or aggravated by stress. Psoriasis, eczema or atopic dermatitis, that same category, acne of various kinds, contact dermatitis, alopecia, and then just like itching or hives, those can all be either caused or worsened by stress and primarily elevated cortisol.” [3:57] “Anytime that we have a suppression of immunity and an increase in inflammation and a poor barrier function, that's a bad combo. We see that all the time in the gut, but the same exact thing happens in the skin.” [7:37] Links Find Brie Wieselman online Get Brie's FREE Hormone Guide HERE (scroll about halfway down the page) Watch Brie's Hormones & Skin Rash Interview during the Eczema & Psoriasis Awareness Week Healthy Skin Show ep. 013: What's Really Going On Behind Adult Acne? w/ Brie Wieselman Healthy Skin Show ep. 034: Diet Solutions For Adult Acne w/ Brie Wieselman Follow Brie on Facebook | Twitter | InstagramReady to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

129: Are Skin Rashes Caused By Parasites?

If you’ve ever wondered if you have parasites because you have rashes, this episode is for you! I’ve had a number of clients over the past couple of months who believed that parasites were at the root of their skin rashes. This came from both eczema and psoriasis clients, by the way. So, where did they get this idea? Reading information written online. There are websites out there that claim that pretty much everyone has hidden parasite infections. AND if you do a parasite cleanse, you’ll be free of your parasites. So today I’d like to set the record straight about parasite skin rashes and my own experience in clinical practice with how often I see these types of cases. I suspect that this will surprise you… AND hopefully save you some money. In this episode: True or False: Does everyone with rashes have parasites? How many clients I’ve worked within 3 years who’ve had parasites Surprising ways you can get a parasitic infection Caution about expensive big DIY supplement protocols How to find out if you do really have a parasite? Quotes: Most people think that parasite infections come from eating contaminated food, but there are several modes of transmission like through the bottom of your bare feet! Even pets can track them into your home. In the past three years of clinical practice and the many stool tests that I’ve reviewed… only 2 people actually had parasitic infections.Ready to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/

127: Alternative Disinfectants + Sanitizers That Won't Dry Your Skin

If you’re like me, the idea of using commercial disinfectants makes you cringe. As a follow up to last week’s article on handwashing, this was the next on my list of critical information that many of you have asked for. In the midst of there being a shortage of disinfectants at the grocery store, there are claims being made about certain products (like essential oils) that aren’t appropriate. It’s my hope in sharing this with you that you’ll be able to take a step back from feeling stressed and panicked. The panic is why the grocery store shelves are bare of cleaning products right now. So let’s take a step back and have a grounded, practical conversation about alternative disinfectants and sanitizers you can use that ARE effective. And some of them are easily found in your home (or locally in your community).   Remember… to get the most accurate information, consult the CDC, FDA and your local government’s website. This information is to help support you, but does not supersede or replace what’s best for you based on your doctor’s recommendations. In this episode: Are natural products like vinegar + essential oils effective disinfectants Caution about DIY hand sanitizer recipes Creative source for ethyl alcohol in your local community #1 best option for disinfecting that’s already in your home “Cleaner” alternatives to bleach + other caustic products Quotes: Anti-bacterial products are for bacteria. These types of products are not effective on viruses which are very easily destroyed in the presence of soap. Beware of people making assumptions, or worse making claims, that products like vinegar and even some essential oils are effective. There is no testing to support that in this climate right now.Ready to figure out your skin’s root causes so you can finally fix your skin + break free from meds to manage your skin?My virtual clinic works with adults worldwide struggling with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, hives, dandruff, perioral dermatitis + more.Trusted by over 1000 clients, we get results WITHOUT restrictive elimination diets.Schedule an assessment call at https://skinrepaircall.com/
