View from the Kop: Klopp’s stroke of genius, what he should do after the title is won, and why there is no way back for Coutinho
The View from the Kop Liverpool FC fans’ podcast returns as host Paul Wheelock is joined by big Reds Paul Philbin and Kai Delaney. One year on from the Champions League final win in Madrid and trophy parade back in Liverpool, the pod kicks off with the panel’s memories of that magical weekend – as Kai tells a story that not many Reds supporters will top! We then fast-forward to the current day and what Philbo believes is another stroke of genius from Jurgen Klopp, and what the Liverpool boss should do when his side inevitably win the title – perhaps even the first game back against Everton at Goodison Park! Or perhaps not, even, as there is no guarantee that the match will be staged at the home of the Blues, which follows reports suggesting that Liverpool could be prevented from playing their final home games at Anfield. Philbo and Kai give their opinion on that before delivering their verdict on what they feel have been the best matches so far this season. They are then asked about how Klopp and Michael Edwards can go about improving this magnificent team, and whether that should include Philippe Coutinho, before the podcast ends with a tribute to captain Jordan Henderson, nine years after his arrival at Anfield. The Agenda: Premier League Return Date Confirmed | Liverpool Could Win Title At Everton
It’s official – the Premier League will resume on June 17. And that means Liverpool could be crowned champions in their first game back... against Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park! The campaign will restart with matches between Manchester City and Arsenal, and Aston Villa and Sheffield United. Those two matches are the ‘games in hand’ that will take all 20 Premier League clubs up to 29 fixtures played. The first full round of matches will be staggered across the following weekend – including the Merseyside derby. And should City lose to Arsenal on the Wednesday, Liverpool would seal the title with victory over Everton. To discuss that possibility, when the Reds will return to full contact training, and some interesting comments from Watford captain Troy Deeney, the Liverpool ECHO’s LFC correspondent Paul Gorst joins Matt Addison for The Agenda.
