Behind Enemy Lines: Jurgen Klopp disciple plotting Liverpool's downfall in crucial Champions League shootout
Liverpool vs Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday night is shaping up to be a huge clash in the race for the Champions League spots - and it's loaded full of sub-plots. New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a disciple of Jurgen Klopp, having followed the Liverpool boss in managing Mainz and then Borussia Dortmund, while Timo Werner was, for a long time, someone Klopp thought about bringing to Anfield, before he instead opted for Diogo Jota, who could be back for the big match after injury and illness. And there are several other big-name players like Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi who Tuchel has been tasked with getting the best from after succeeding Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge. So to get the view from the capital ahead of the big battle on Merseyside, Matt Addison speaks to Football.London's Chelsea reporter Sam Inkersole. Who are the key players to watch? How do Chelsea see this game playing out tactically? And what can we learn from Tuchel's time so far? All is discussed as Liverpool seek a first home win since December 16.Watch and subscribe to our Blood Red videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BloodRedLiverpoolFCJoin our Blood Red podcast group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1656599847979758/ Learn more about your ad choices. Tribute to Ian St John and the legacy the Liverpool legend leaves behind
Liverpool are mourning the loss of a genuine Reds legend today after the passing of Ian St John at the age of 82. St John joined Liverpool from Motherwell in 1961 and went on to play 425 games for Bill Shankly's side, scoring 118 goals across a decade of service during one of the great Anfield eras. As well as winning two top-flight league titles, St John scored the decisive goal in Liverpool’s first-ever FA Cup victory in 1965. Matt Addison is joined by the Liverpool ECHO's head of sport, David Prentice, to pay tribute to the impact that St John made on Liverpool FC as heartfelt tributes pour in. They also take a look at his media career, with 'Saint and Greavsie', in which he co-starred alongside Jimmy Greaves, one of the pioneering football shows of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as St John's radio appearances, including on Liverpool station Radio City alongside Everton hero Ian Snodin.Watch and subscribe to our Blood Red videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BloodRedLiverpoolFCJoin our Blood Red podcast group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1656599847979758/ Learn more about your ad choices.
