No Limits and No Boundaries with Star Melancon

Sometimes, we don’t know when or how to say no. My guest for this episode is Star Melancon. Star is a scientist turned entrepreneur who struggled with setting boundaries in her corporate workplace before launching her own financial consulting business. Star thought removing herself from the corporate environment would restore her ability to set boundaries and give her a healthy work-life balance. But Star learned that without true transformation, she would continue the same people-pleasing practices that led to serious physical and mental health consequences. That mistake forced her to turn inward and figure out what made her put everyone else's needs before her own. Find the transcript of this episode on my site, emancopyco.com/podcast. The Fear of Visibility with Jennifer Ogunyemi

Have you ever shied away from the spotlight, thinking  it might help your business rather than hurt it? Black women and visibly Muslim women have to decide how they want to show up for their businesses — all while navigating the complex expectations and stereotypes that come along with their identities. My guest is Jennifer Ogunyemi, the founder of Sisters in Business, an organisation that's dedicated to inspiring, connecting, and elevating Muslim women. Jennifer is a mentor to countless Muslim women. But before her business took off, she struggled with how to show up visibly in her business. In fact, while her business was taking off, no one knew that a black woman was behind it – which meant she missed on opportunities and the chance to get recognitionfor her hard work. Now, she encourages Muslim women to show up for themselves. Find the transcript of this episode on my site, emancopyco.com/podcast. Going and Growing Too Slow with Belinda Weaver

Have you ever had a brilliant business idea, then watched someone else take that idea and run with it because you took too long to make it happen? My guest is Belinda Weaver, the owner of Copywrite Matters and a copy coach in the copywriting industry. Belinda created the concept for a membership community that would scale her business…and then...she sat on it (mostly because she was juggling two young kids). While she waited for the perfect time to launch, other copywriters jumped on the same idea, created their own membership, and grew them into successful businesses. Going at a pace that felt slower than everyone around her made Belinda rethink her work-life balance, the speed at which she's growing her business, and her relationship between motherhood and being a business owner.
