: Penn, Kim, Lola, and Penn Charles Holderness create original music, parodies, and Vlogs for YouTube and Facebook to poke fun of themselves and celebrate the absurdity in circumstances most families face in their day to day life. They published "Christmas Jammies" in December 2013 and life hasn't been the same. Since then, their popular parodies, "All About That Baste", "Baby Got Class," and original music "Snow Day" have received national news coverage. Penn, the Dad, took a chance and left his job as a news anchor to join his wife Kim, the Mom, at their video production and digital marketing company, Greenroom Communications, LLC. Lola and Penn Charles are always happy, respectful and eat all of their vegetables (that last sentence is a lie). Produced and Engineered by Trujillo Media Hosted on Acast. We Are Dealing With Loss
Everyone deals with stress and loss differently. The stress we’ve been going through with Penn's aging parents has been really hard. Even though Penn is upbeat, we know stress is still impacting his body because he is losing his hair. On this podcast, we talk about hair loss, processing stress, and keeping calm during kids' sports. WE WROTE A BOOK, GUYS! Making Some Serious Changes
In last week’s podcast, we shared an update on Penn’s father’s health. He’s declining into dementia and we’re having to make all sorts of grown-up decisions we don’t feel qualified, or ready, to make. Watching someone suffer will cause you to do a double take on your own existence. Over the past week, Penn and I have been questioning everything from our careers to how we numb ourselves when times get tough. So, we are doing our own version of #Stoptember to cut back on the things that may be elevating our anxiety and numbing our emotions. WE WROTE A BOOK, GUYS! Break Sleep Struggles with Cognitive Behavior Treatments
Sleep is a thing in our family. Personally, I don’t do it well. It causes me great anxiety even when I go to bed. But sleep is so important to mental health, especially mine. In order to do the snooze better, we took a deep dive into our sleep issues with a fancy guest. Dr. Amanda Seavy is a licensed psychologist and founder of Clarity Psychologist Wellness. She also struggles with sleep, which makes her the perfect guest for today’s show. If you’re like me and struggle with sleep, or if your partner or kids are having difficulties with sleep, give this podcast episode a listen. From melatonin to behavioral therapy - we chat about it all and hopefully discuss a tip or two that helps you. Sweet dreams! Can you help me with one of my homework assignments? I am passionate about SO many things right now - book, board game, luggage and more! Will you tell me what you’d like to see from us by filling out this super easy, quick survey? Thanks so much! Back to School Resolutions for Happy Kids & Happy Marriage
“This year is gonna be different!” Do you say that every year? We certainly do. Our new school year resolutions may sound like… Mornings are going to be cool, calm and collected. Homework is going to manageable. Snacks and sports and everything in between will be a success! Sound familiar? To help our kids (and help our marriage), we are making a new type of list for school year resolutions based on the feedback, tips and advice we’ve received from past podcast episodes, such as our show with Dr. Emily King and our counselor. Our goal is to make the school year run smoothly for our kids, but also give Penn and I more opportunities and time to be happy. I’ve mentioned a certain book in the past two episodes, so if you have a teenage girl, I highly recommend that you read this for an awesome homework assignment: https://amzn.to/2HsWCu3 WE WROTE A BOOK, GUYS!
