Finding Supportive Mentors in Treasury with Francisco De Barros

The growth of a treasury career takes determination, and a supportive boss or mentor can help propel your career to new heights. On this episode of The Treasury Career Corner, we are joined by Francisco De Barros, Assistant Treasurer at Ingersoll Rand. Francisco explains how mentors and managers helped propel his career to new heights and why it’s important to push yourself and find growth opportunities in treasury. Plus, he explores the differences between each of his roles, moving abroad and his views on technology in treasury. Francisco is a seasoned treasury and finance professional with experience in trade finance, FX management, cash management and capital markets. After interning at GE Money, Francisco began his career at Tyco International, starting as a Corporate Auditor before progressing to Treasury Manager of Global Liquidity. Developing Regions in Treasury with Marc Verkuil

With many treasury professionals going global, is it time to consider Dubai and the Middle East as a true finance hotspot? On this episode, we are joined by Marc Verkuil, Founder of Amstel Treasury Management. Marc shares details of his treasury background, how the industry has changed over the years, and what the future has in store. Plus, he shares his experiences of working in Dubai, explains why companies could look to industry-specific professionals when hiring, and tells us why treasurers should be open to change. Marc Verkuil began his career is Cash and Treasury Management before becoming Director of Treasury for Europe for Campbell Soup Company in the late 1990s. He then spent ten years as Senior Director of International Treasury at Life Technologies Corporation, then three years in a similar role at AB Sciex. He previously worked in Rotterdam and New York in Assistant Treasury roles for Bunge Ltd before a three-year spell as Director of Fortive’s Dubai Treasury Centre. Predicting the Future of Treasury with Jean Furter

In this bumper episode of The Treasury Career Corner, we speak to Jean Furter, Treasurer at Poly. He takes us through his fascinating career, makes predictions on the future of the industry, discusses diversity, working abroad, three key qualities treasurers need to succeed, and lots more.  Jean worked in a number of treasury management roles at Silicon Graphics International in Geneva, Switzerland in the late 1990s. He then became Vice President of Treasury with the company before moving to Brocade Communication Systems in 2007. Jean moved to Croatia, in 2018, spending a year as Executive Director of Treasury at Agrokor & Fortenova. The Next Stage of Technology in Treasury with Royston Da Costa

Technology is an important part of everyday life. But few guests on this podcast embrace it more than Royston Da Costa. Royston, Assistant Treasurer at Ferguson Group, makes his second appearance on The Treasury Career Corner. He explains his roots in merchant banking, gives advice on using technology in treasury and explains how his work has changed since COVID. For a link to his 2019 appearance, click here. Royston joined Wolseley, now Ferguson Group, in April 2002, and managed the group’s daily debt and cash requirements.  In 2010, Royston drove the automation of treasury processes at Ferguson, leading to the implementation of their current treasury management system, a cloud-based solution by Coupa.  He was promoted to Assistant Group Treasurer in 2016, and made responsible for the middle office, and in November 2019 assumed responsibility for the Front Office. Talking Different Treasury Languages with Kai Bremer

In treasury, it helps to have a solid grasp of every aspect of finance. That’s why this week’s guest on The Treasury Career Corner made it his mission to learn multiple treasury languages. Kai Bremer, Director of Treasury at AUTODOC, joins the podcast to discuss his route into the industry, his part in the growth of Aldi’s treasury function and why knowledge and understanding are key to success. Kai began his career as an M&A Intern at Doertenbach in 2006.
