MCA Scuttlebutt
The Marine Corps Association is dedicated in its mission to support Today’s Marines. Our podcast, Scuttlebutt, seeks to create a forum to encourage and inspire Marines, former Marines, Marine families, and supporters of the Marine Corps to engage with issues that impact Marines and the Corps. Storytelling not only helps us unpack who we are, but brings us into conversation with the world and people around us. We will hear stories from Marines and civilians working to honor, uncover, and restore Marine Corps history, as well as from those working every day to make the world a better place.

#175: LtCol Tom Schueman and Nate Boaz talk PB Abbate and Staying Left of Bang with Veteran Suicide
Hey, Scuttlebutt listeners. Thank you for joining us and your continued support. This week, we welcome LtCol Tom Schueman and Nate Boaz back to the show. Tom and Nate are both returning guests, and Tom so much so we may need to get him a designated parking spot, especially now that he’s here giving his pound of flesh at TECOM. For those who haven’t been keeping track, Tom is the founder of Patrol Base Abbate, and Nate is its chairman of the board of directors. Please go back and listen to our previous interviews with Tom and Nate. Tom and Nate give us updates on what is going on with PB Abbate and how veterans support organizations provide a critical need to help prevent veteran suicide through community and purpose. Especially now, as we approach the holiday season and people who are at high risk for suicide, such as veterans, we encourage everyone to find VSOs like PB Abbate so that we can all RTB (or return to base) for 2025.
Enjoy!

#173: Six Days in Fallujah updates with Victura Founder and CEO, Peter Tamte
Hey, Scuttlebutt listeners. Thank you for joining us and your continued support. This week, as a continuation of our 20th anniversary of Fallujah II/Operation Phantom Fury programming, we welcome the Founder and CEO of Victura, Peter Tamte back to the show. Peter was on our show a year ago to talk about his game, Six Days in Fallujah. You can check that out in Episode 114. Peter is on today to talk about the feedback he’s gotten from the early access release of his game back in June and the newest release of the Command And Control update, which came out on November 7th to coincide with the anniversary date of the Second Battle of Fallujah. It was great to get the perspective of someone who is not a Marine but is just as passionate about honoring those who served. As we focus on wargaming as a way of getting in your reps and sets, Six Days in Fallujah goes well beyond the typical run-and-gun paradigm of first-person shooters and uses the experiences and stories of actual veterans of Fallujah to bring a real-world experience to its players.
Enjoy!

Hey, Scuttlebutt listeners. Thank you for joining us and your continued support. This week, we welcome Jeremiah Workman back to the show. Jeremiah is a veteran of Operation Phantom Fury/Al-Fajr, also known as the Second Battle of Fallujah. He is a Navy Cross recipient and author of the book Shadow of the Sword. Scuttlebutt Ep 170: Washington’s Marines with MajGen Jason Q. Bohm, USMC (Ret.)
Hey, Scuttlebutt listeners. Thank you for joining us and your continued support. This week, we begin our newest segment, Road to 250, in celebration of the Marine Corps’ 250th birthday in 2025. Over the next year, we’ll be featuring stories and history from throughout the 250 years of the Marine Corps. These episodes will be nested within the MCA’s overall Road to 250 Campaign, where you will find featured articles in both the Gazette and Leatherneck highlighting events and battles within specific periods in Marine Corps history.
This month, we begin with the Continental Marines. And I can’t imagine having a better guest to share the rich and little-known history of the birth of the Corps, MajGen Jason Bohm, USMC (Ret). MajGen Bohm’s last duty was serving as the Inspector General of the Marine Corps. He is currently the Dean of Liberty University’s Helms School of Government and author of From the Cold War to ISIL: One Marine’s Journey and Washington’s Marines: The Origins of the Corps and the American Revolution, 1775-1777. MajGen Bohm takes us beyond the hallowed stories of New Providence and shows us how employing Marines has been critical to American military success since before the founding of our Nation. This is a great conversation and we are so excited to be kicking off our Road to 250 with MajGen Bohm.

Scuttlebutt Ep 168: PreVeteran Founder, LtCol Jason C. Anderson, USAF (Ret.)
Hey, Scuttlebutt listeners. Thank you for joining us and your continued support. This week, we welcome the founder of PreVeteran and retired Air Force LtCol, Jason C. Anderson, to the show. PreVeteran is a veteran transition organization that trains and assists veterans in moving from military service to life in the private sector. Jason knows these challenges all too well. Even though his resume would lead one to believe he made a smooth and successful transition, Jason was struck with a sobering reality – he was not equipped business-wise to flourish in his new roles. Unfortunately, he learned firsthand that the military transition model is not optimized for preparing service members for private sector success. Jason explains these challenges, the tools veterans need to understand the private sector, and how PreVeteran optimizes veterans so that their talents and experience can benefit their future organizations and themselves.
