Nigel Farage is set to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, despite twice tweeting during the 2024 general election that "Reform UK will reject the influence of the World Economic Forum and cancel Britain's membership of it." The WEF is an insidious organisation which pushed COVID lockdowns, digital currency, carbon credits, and a vision of the future in which "You will own nothing, and be happy." But given Reform's economic and foreign policies, it makes sense for Farage to attend. He can insult detached technocratic elites in his public speech, just like Trump and Milei did; then, privately court business interests that have withdrawn from Britain to Dubai, and build relationships with foreign heads of state ahead of becoming the next government. On the 30th of October 2025, I argued for the motion, “This house believes that mainstream media has become an ‘enemy of the people’”, at the Oxford Union. From covering up the grooming gangs, to taking government funding during COVID lockdowns, and gaslighting the public after terror attacks: The print and broadcast establishment has revealed itself to be the servants of state power and liberal ideology. The government’s "anti-extremism" body, Prevent, has developed a new video game called "Pathways" to warn children that sharing "far right" politics and anti-immigration content online will get them referred to counter-terror programmes. But this has backfired because its character, Amelia, implicitly promises you will meet purple-haired alternative and goth girls at remigration rallies. I can't think of a better unintended advertisement to young men for getting involved in rightwing protest movements than "Meet your manic pixie dream girl by marching for mass deportations." Tommy Robinson has been criticised by the right for telling Dan Wootton and Liam Tufts that we wouldn’t have a problem with immigration if it weren't for Islam. I understand Tommy wants to prevent his non-white friends from being mistreated. He's trying to draw a clean distinction between Islam and everyone else, based on ideology. But that is a mistake. Immigration would still inflict crimes, economic costs, and cultural change on us, and cause white Brits to become a minority, even if there were no Islam in Britain. Reform UK has appointed Laila Cunningham as their London Mayor election candidate. So, Londoners like me can look forward to voting between Pakistani Muslim leftist Sadiq Khan, or Egyptian Muslim careerist Cunningham in 2028. Cunningham was almost the Conservative candidate for Rotherham in 2024, hosted an Iftar event while a Conservative councillor, went on Pride marches, and has since called those who don't want a Muslim Mayor of London "the far right".  She seems to have rote-learned platitudes about "British values" to get ahead in a party desperate not to be called racist. We deserve better. Hope Not Hate operative and former Labour councillor, Liron Woodcock-Velleman, has been convicted of sending explicit texts and images to a 13-year-old girl. Velleman contributed to the Online Safety Act: legislation supposed to keep children safe, but actually designed to censor "the far right" — myself included. He's not the only criminal working for the organisation: former Nazi turned communist Matthew Collins once attacked women with a hammer and hospitalised them. Hope Not Hate enjoys state funding, employs violent reprobates, and accuses their political opponents of being the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler to shut down democratic debate. They deserve to be included in the next round of sanctions by the American State Department against members of the censorship industrial complex. New YouGov polling shows 36% of the public think you have to be born in Britain to be British; and that 71% of Reform voters agree that having native ancestry is "a prerequisite for someone to be truly British", and 59% see Britain as "an ethnic, not a civic, community." This coincides with calls for Egyptian revolutionary Alaa Abd el-Fattah to be stripped of British citizenship, revealing that having a British passport is not enough to be British; and a contentious debate between Andrew Gold and ethnonationalist Steve Laws. It's clear that civic nationalism is losing the immigration debate. But what will take its place? If civic nationalists set a dichotomy where we either have to surrender to demographic extinction or deport every last immigrant and their offspring, then, out of desperation, people will support indiscriminate deportations.  People want security: for their people, their culture, their country, and their children. These are reasonable requests. If you cannot offer that, they will side with someone who will, no matter how harsh or unreasonable they are prepared to be.
