199 The #1 Thing in the Way of Your Happiness
Women come to me for a number of reasons – sometimes they feel like they're in a rut, that they're just going through the motions and they know there's more to life. Sometimes they're searching for something more meaningful and fulfilling to do and they need help uncovering their purpose. And for so many women who come to me, they're craving more joy in their lives, more happiness. In today's episode I'm talking all about the number one thing that is getting in the way of women's happiness, in the way of us living our purpose, and it's probably not what you think. Along the way I talk about: Figuring out what will truly make us happy Saying yes to ourselves, and getting clear on our Yes and our No The interconnectedness of joy and purpose The harm that comes from squashing your own desires Specific steps you can take to help uncover your purpose and go and take action towards it (Vision, Our Superpowers, Joy, and more!) 195 A Passion for Philanthropy that Unifies with Krista Kleiner
So many people have ideas about how they'd like to change the world for the better, but they allow their limiting beliefs, or expectations from others, or any of a host of other challenges to stop them before they start. My guest today, Krista Kleiner, talks about pushing through her own challenges to create a global effort to spread love and unity in a wide variety of areas, and she is truly making a difference. In today's episode Krista talks about: What it means to lead with love Her motivation for doing good in the world that started at age 6 The important role challenges can play in our lives How becoming Miss Philippines International kickstarted a new period of personal growth How she started The One Heart Movement Some of the critical initiatives around the world that The One Heart Movement has launched The value of working in community Overcoming self-limiting beliefs About Krista: Krista Kleiner is former Miss Philippines International and now a humanitarian and founder of The One Heart Movement. After she saw first-hand Filipino nurses risking their lives on the front lines, she had a vision to offer nurses a global message of gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice during these difficult times. That's where The One Heart Movement was born: a global effort to rally community love in support of our healthcare heroes who continue to fight on behalf of all of us. The #OneHeartHandoff campaign took the world by storm during the month of love and continues to gain momentum, garnering over 20 million hits on social media with the likes of TikTok sensations Charli D'Amelio and her sister Dixie D'Amelio joining the movement to spread the message of love to their millions of followers. 194 An Extraordinary and Impactful Life with Marjorie Margolies
My guest today has a lot to say about a lot of things, and that makes sense, because she has such a rich, diverse set of experiences behind her. Member of the US Congress. Emmy-award winning journalist. Founder and head of an international nonprofit empowering women leaders around the world. The list goes on. And as it turns out, when our interview ran into a roadblock for technical reason, she came over to our house and sat in my dining room for the interview, since she lives in my neighborhood! I am thrilled and honored to bring you a wide-ranging conversation with the Honorable Marjorie Margolies. In today's episode Marjorie talks about: Being the first single American to adopt a child from another country Being elected to the US House of Representatives Creating a family in a non-traditional way How politics has changed since she was in office Teaching a class at U Penn with the grandson of President Eisenhower Creating and running Women's Campaign International About Marjorie: Marjorie Margolies is the author of five books, an Emmy-award winning best-selling journalist, congresswoman, and the first single American to adopt internationally. After 25 years with NBC, Margolies ran for U.S. Congress in 1991 as a Democrat in a historically Republican district of suburban Philadelphia and became the first woman elected in her own right in the state of Pennsylvania. Margolies also devoted her life to supporting women and girls. She founded and runs Women's Campaign International, a nonprofit working to empower women leaders around the world to mobilize their communities and engage politically. Besides breaking down historic boundaries, Margolies also had to deal with heartbreaking tragedies including divorce and the death of a child. Her intention is for women of every generation to recognize themselves in her story and learn how to nurture themselves and the life decisions they have made. Margolies is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and the grandmother of 21. She shares three grandchildren with Hillary Clinton. 193 How to Accomplish Your Big Audacious Goal
What is that big, juicy, audacious dream that you've always had, that maybe you've been afraid to pursue or you've beaten yourself up for abandoning? Maybe you think it's impossible to achieve? Last year I accomplished that kind of goal for myself, one that I had thought impossible: I threw the world's largest event for International Women's Day, with 12 hours of keynote speakers, panels, movement and exercise classes, and more. Over 25 speakers, 2500+ women from around the world registered for this, and it was totally free! In today's episode I'm going to lay out for you how I did it so you can go after your own dreams with renewed energy and determination. The steps that I talk about are: Visualization (and I take you guided visualization exercises to facilitate this) Planning through reverse engineering Celebrating the heck out of every step I accomplished The power of checklists Switch from "I can't" to "How can I?"
