Growing up around his dad’s carbon fiber business George was lucky enough to be introduced to computers at an early age. He went into finance straight out of university and he worked in engineering roles for the best part of 3 years. He then spent the next 4 years building up a company from scratch which wasn’t his own. It was in this where he learned a lot of the skills he talks about on the show.
He really enjoyed the challenge of growing a company so decided to found his own and do it himself. From this decision, Cognito Group was born.

Revolutionising the rental market - Aaron Short
Aaron is the Co-founder of Accomodation.co.uk
After 6th form, Aaron had a great opportunity to work at a digital marketing agency. He was trained up and managing accounts at 18. This role impressed on him the importance of design.
After a while, in this role, Aaron decided to go to university. He did a year of creative advertising then moved into business and marketing. Whilst he was doing this he started building websites for local businesses. Aaron started working on marketing property and learned a lot of valuable lessons from estate agents.
From the profits he made doing this he was able to buy his own house and he himself became a landlord. This let him understand the troubles landlord face and with his co-founder, they set up accomodation.co.uk

Guilds, chapters and the Spotify methodology - Erin Depew
Erin is a Tech Lead at Spotify.
With a degree in Art, Erin started her career as a graphic designer at NBC. She designed posters and marketing material for the company and its affiliates. Two of her colleagues taught Erin frontend development so she could further upskill herself. After NBC, Erin moved to Bitly and then Adobe for a couple of years.
At Spotify, Erin has picked up a lot backend skills and data skills. Erin also works in mentorship programs, she teaches at Girl Develop It.

Shilpa is the Alternative Delivery Model Lead & Women in Tech Program Lead at Deloitte
Shilpa has spent 22 years working in consulting after starting her career as a software engineer. She graduated from Manchester University's institute of technology. She could already see back then that technology was the way forward for her career and society.
She’s spent 15 years working with a variety of clients helping them undertake technology and data transformations. More recently she’s taken on the title of Alternative Delivery Model Lead. This role focuses on the growth and setup of new services for clients that could be offshore, nearshore, contractors & most recently crowd sourcing services.
Shilpa has also been the leader of the Women in Technology Network at Deloitte for the past 11 years, trying to create sustainable change for deloitte and their clients and society more broadly.

Natalie is the Head of Systems & Data Analytics at Marsh JLT Specialty.
Natalie’s journey in insurance started 15 years ago working in exposure management. She worked for various Lloyd’s syndicates looking after their data. Following this, she started working for a Lloyds based syndicate where she further developed her data and analytical skills.
Her main focus there was looking at man-made risks, especially terrorism. After this, she moved into broking when she was offered a job at Marsh JLT Specialty where she now works. In this role she’s responsible for catastrophe modeling. She is now the Head of Data and Analytics team with a particular focus on credit.

Will’s career started in brand marketing over 20 years ago. He started his professional life at Nestle and then worked at Diageo for a few years. Will really enjoyed marketing but wanted to incorporate more data into his career so he could better determine the ROI of what he was doing.
8-years into his career he joined Dunnhumby where he spent the next decade helping Tesco, and other clients, get value from personalised, highly targeted offers. After this, he moved to CallCredit where he led up their performance marketing initiatives. Then a few years ago Will joined the Engine Group where he became the CDO.
