The Rehab
MHNR Network, LLC
The Rehab show is about overcoming drug addiction. The topics range from medical treatment to spiritual fellowships and psychotherapy. Other forms of therapy will be explored as well. The underlying theme is that everyone is different and we cannot apply a single method of treatment to all people and expect it to work. Listening carefully to what works and does not work for an individual, treating people with respect and understanding that behaviors caused by addiction are the result of a medical condition are important. Patients presenting for treatment of addiction should be addressed with caring, compassion and understanding.

Rachel Reimer, Medical Intuitive: A Rae Of Hope
"My name is Rachel Reimer and I am a Medical Intuitive. I have the ability to see, hear and feel information from a person's name and a recent picture. It took me a while to figure out that not everyone could do this, and it has led me on my journey of becoming uniquely me. I provide spiritual insight to healthcare and/or mental health professionals on clients that want to know more about their health and/or are "stuck". These insights help clients understand possible physical, emotional or spiritual roots that are preventing them from better health. Additionally, I have personal clients that I provide spiritual insight to for possible emotional and spiritual roots that may be preventing them from better health."What happens when detectives cannot solve a case? Often, they turn to people with psychic abilities to see if they can find answers from the spiritual realm. What about when doctors cannot diagnose a patient? It is a fact that doctors do not have all of the answers. Sometimes, after being tested over and over and seeing every possible specialist, the final answer is, "I don't know". At that point, a Medical Intuitive may be consulted by certain physicians to get additional information. To find out more about what Rachel Reimer does and how to contact her, visit her website: www.myraeofhope.com.Please visit my podcast website at https://therehab.com and my professional website at https://drleeds.com. John Patrick Hart: Journey to a Good Place
John Patrick Hart retired from government work after forty years of service as a photographic scientist. Pat was involved with photography in the U.S. space program, including space and lunar photography and film. In retirement, he has developed his talent as a writer and blogger. Regeneration After Addiction is a blog with a world wide audience. Pat writes about his experiences in healing and regenerating throughout the process of addiction and recovery, both for his son in recovery and for himself. In addition to having a son in recovery, Pat has also lost a son to the disease of addiction. One of the most important messages we can take away from this podcast episode: we should tell the addicts in our lives that we love them. We should do this every chance we get.Nar-Anon is an organization for the loved ones of addicts. Pat is an active member. Through his involvement, he has met many new and interesting friends. Their common interests go beyond the topics of addiction. Just as a support system of recovering friends is important for the recovering addict, it is also important for their loved ones to develop a support system. Through Nar-Anon, family members can make new friends and find a new way of life on their journey to a good place.Thank you for listening! If you enjoyed this episode, please let me know. Sunshine of the Spirit: David Hecht on Recovery and Spirituality
David Hecht is one of the most interesting people I know. He has been in recovery from addiction for over 33 years. During that time, David has spoken at many conventions on the topic of spirituality and recovery. He has also spoken at local meetings, large and small in the South Florida area and other meetings around the country. He has also sponsored many people over the years and helped them to change their lives. David is also highly intelligent. In fact, he has tested in the top 0.1% of the population. In addition to being active in recovery, he is also active in Mensa. On multiple occasions, he has been a stand-by to be a contestant on Jeopardy and could easily win on most nights of the show. So, for people who think they are too smart to recover from addiction, David is proof that this is not true. While intelligence and creativity can work against a person struggling with addiction, spirituality can be the key to recovering.I highly recommend exploring David Hecht's writing. An excellent collection of essays is available at DrLeeds.com.The individual articles are available through these links:https://drleeds.com/addiction-recovery-insights/https://drleeds.com/the-problems-of-getting-and-staying-clean/https://drleeds.com/always-clean-always-conscious-part-4/https://drleeds.com/solutions-for-recovery-from-addiction/https://drleeds.com/choosing-to-change/Thank you for listening! Adam Bisaga, MD: Overcoming Opioid Addiction
Please, if you only listen to one episode of The Rehab podcast, listen to this one. The opioid epidemic of the 21st century has become one of the most deadly in history. Opioid overdose has become one of the most common causes of death in the United States. Drug overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 50. In Frederick County, Maryland, there is a billboard with up-to-date numbers of local opioid overdoses and lives lost. There are medical treatments that work to save lives from opioid addiction. These treatments are scientifically proven. They work. Yet, federally funded addiction treatment programs are still using treatment protocols that are not evidence based. Family members and support groups are, at times, in favor of treatment plans that are dangerous and can lead to deadly relapses.Dr. Bisaga is an addiction psychiatrist, clinician, researcher and professor of psychiatry at Columbia University. He is the author of "Overcoming Opioid Addiction", a brilliantly written book written for everyone to help us all understand how to help save lives in this ongoing opioid epidemic.Click here to buy "Overcoming Opioid Addiction: The Authoritative Medical Guide for Patients, Families, Doctors, and Therapists".Please visit my podcast website at https://therehab.com and my professional website at https://drleeds.com. Narcissistic Parental Abuse and Addiction: Survival of the Family Scapegoat
My guest on this episode of The Rehab is B. Flakelar, journalist and writer. B. is a victim of narcissistic parenting. Through many years of therapy, study and research, she has developed a model of the family controlled by a narcissistic parent that has resonated with a great many of her readers. While reading her work, I was surprised by how accurately she described the stories told by many of my addiction treatment patients. I wondered about the possibility of some people with substance use disorder having difficulties in recovering because of non-physical abuse from their own families. I also considered the possibility of addiction itself being triggered by such a malignant family structure. I was curious to learn more from B. about her understanding of this family condition and the relationship it may have to addiction as a cause and roadblock to recovery. This episode reveals her incredible understanding of narcissistic abuse as it relates to addiction on a personal level and with respect to her research on the subject. Please visit B. Flakelar's website and read the article that we are discussing in this episode: http://parenting.exposed/no-contact-when-the-scapegoat-walks-away/Please visit my podcast website at https://therehab.com and my professional website at https://drleeds.com. This episode of The Rehab features an interview with film maker Randall White. Randall is both producer and director of this soon-to-be-released documentary that follows his wife, Michelle, and her struggle with mental illness and drug addiction. The film shows the destructive effects of both mental illness and addiction on herself and on her family. Michelle was a nurse, a mother and a wife. She left behind a note explaining that she did not want to continue to be a destructive force in her daughter's life. Randall is producing this film with the hope that others suffering with mental illness and addiction will seek professional help and medical treatment. He also wants his audience to understand that addiction and other mental illnesses, such as bipolar disorder, are medical conditions that must be taken as seriously as any physical illness.Randall Scott White is an entrepreneur, musician, father, and budding filmmaker.
