Ad Astra: The Journey To The NCAA Title With Charles Hicks | Stories, Wisdom, & Inspiration From The NCAA Champ
On November 19, 2022, Charles Hicks cemented his name into history forever. Not only did he win his first individual title, but he was the first person ever from Stanford to win an individual NCAA title on the grass. What did it take to achieve this monumental accomplishment? A lot of 105-mile weeks, years of sacrifice, belief, and so much more that we cover in today's episode of the podcast.
Charles and I sit back and have a conversation surrounding everything it took for him to achieve this dream he set out to accomplish. We discuss the ups, downs, and everything in between! We talk about all who made this possible, the race itself, Ad Astra, and how his teammates have pushed him to be the best version of himself. Needless to say, this is a must-listen podcast!
Charles and I have been trying to make a podcast happen since July, so we were both thrilled to make this come to life. I hope you all enjoy listening to our conversation as much as we did having it!

The Story Behind The Players' Plate | A Thoughtful & Impactful Discussion With Author Emily Cole
-THE PLAYERS' PLATE: https://www.amazon.com/Players-Plate-Unorthodox-Sports-Nutrition-ebook/dp/B0BGJNGKTW
Back for her second appearance on the podcast, is the one and only Emily Cole. Emily recently published her first book, The Players' Plate! She has worked endlessly over the past few years to make this dream come true.
Today's conversation on the podcast is a celebration of Emily's hard work, dedication, resilience, and heart. Emily challenged the status quo when she set out to make this book a reality as she has with everything else in her life. Emily is constantly defying the odds, and she did so with this book. Only 3% of people who start writing a book finish it. Only 1-2% of manuscripts end up being published. The average non-fiction book sells about 250 copies in the first year; Emily sold over 1,000 just in the first few weeks. The average age of a first-time author is 36, and Emily is 21.
In this conversation, I ask Emily questions surrounding the book, its process, the lessons she's learned from it, who made it possible, and so much more! I hope you all take time to listen to our conversation, and consider buying a copy of The Players' Plate if you haven't already. This could be a life-changing piece book that impacts their lives significantly. This book can change someone's destructive beliefs surrounding nutrition and turn them into solid scientific evidence about what nutrition should look like.
Please like, subscribe, and share with your friends if you enjoyed today's episode! You can also give us a five-star review on Spotify & Apple (:
Lastly, a thank you to Emily. Thank you for making this incredible piece of literature. Thank you for defying cultural norms and writing it at such a young age. Thank you for your boldness and courage. We won't forget your contributions to our sport and society.

Creating World-Class Races With Jesse Williams (Founder of Sound Running) + A Reflection On Sports Marketing + Storylines Of The Fitness Bank Cross Champs
On the podcast today is the one and only Jesse Williams. Jesse first came on my podcast almost two years ago (November 25, 2020) and since that first conversation, I've been incredibly fascinated with him and his ideas for our sport. If I could appoint a commissioner of track and field, it would be Jesse.
Every few months it seems, Jesse is putting on another world-class meet. On December 1, the Fitness Bank Cross Champs will take place in Austin, Texas. Teams like the OAC, Brooks Beast, Tinman Elite, NAZ Elite, TaylorMade Elite, U.S. Army WCAP, and many more! Needless to say, this race is absolutely stacked and there are many storylines going into it.
In today's episode, Jesse and I discuss the Fitness Banks Cross Champs, best ways to market our sport, running past celebrities, bold predications for NCAAs, and much more. It's always a pleasure to talk with Jesse and always a thoughtful conversation. I hope you all enjoy this conversation as much we did!
