The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show

It was a fiery afternoon at Croke Park yesterday as Galway took on Armagh in the Senior Football Semi-Finals. As players headed back to their changing rooms, an almighty brawl broke out and Morgan Freeman was front and centre as the drama unfolded. He said it was like his own version of Glastonbury.

Leo Varadkar and Pearse Doherty have been at each others throats lately and there's been a lot of back and forth. Ian wanted to have them on this morning’s show to put their disagreements to bed once and for all.

It's an action packed weekend for gigs and Ian was joined this morning by a whole host of people to discuss what’s on. Matt Cooper is heading to see Inhaler in Fairview Park, Pat Kenny and Robbie Keane will be attending the Eagles and Miriam O’Callaghan is going to take a look at HAWKE THE BAND.

On Gift Grub this morning, Des Cahill, Pat Spillane, Morgan Freeman and Joe Brolly discuss this weekend’s GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship Quarter-Finals . On Saturday, Derry take on Clare and Dublin play Cork. Meanwhile on Sunday, it’s Galway v Armagh and then Kerry take on Mayo. Pat Spillane doesn’t think Mayo have a chance against Kerry, with David Clifford now given the ok to play following an injury. Morgan disagrees and is backing Aidan O’Shea and the Mayo boys.

There’s great excitement in the air with Harry Styles playing in the Aviva Stadium tonight. Christy decided to give one of Harry's tunes ‘As It Was’ a re-jig, keeping the rising cost of living in mind and reminiscing on the 1980’s.

Following Michael D Higgins speech about the Government and their housing policy, the President took a trip to Leinster House where the Government showed their disapproval.

This morning, Ian was joined by Morgan Freeman to spill the tea on the All-Ireland quarter-final double header in Semple Stadium on Saturday. He had the best seat in the house.

Celebrations were ongoing in Downing Street over the weekend to mark Boris Johnson’s 58th birthday. The birthday boy himself and Jacob Rees-Mogg joined the show and seemed to have enjoyed themselves.

Father's Day is on Sunday and this morning the annual Father's Day Cliche Classic was as exciting as ever. It featured all the usuals like 'Where Are The Rest Of Your Clothes', 'Have You Started That Pension' and 'What Time Do You Call This'. Des Scahill nearly blew a fuse commentating on this spectacular race.

Forget Tinder, Bumble or Hinge, the Today FM Ski Trip has to be Ireland's most successful matchmaking event. Eimear Ryan texted into The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show this morning to tell Ian that she will be bridesmaid at her friend's wedding today and explained that the happy couple met on the Today FM Ski Trip. Ian surprised the soon-to-be newlyweds with a call and heard all about how they met at the Monday night quiz! Congratulations, Anne-Marie and Kevin!
