Episode 040 - Military Spouses, Black Staff In White Churches, & What's Next For Racial Reconciliation. Guest Dante Stewart
This is a pen and paper podcast fam. Like seriously. Go grab it. The amount of nuggets and morals of wisdom that Dante Stewart drops for the human Hope Fam is ridiculous. Dante is a husband, father, football player, service member spouse, preacher, racial reconciliator (did I just make up a word?) But most importantly he is a hope dealer. He comes hard in this episode and gives us a lot to work on and a lot of hope when it comes to what it means to continue to fight for the equal treatment of everybody in America.
Today's show will end up being a favorite for years to come.
Keep up with Dante https://www.instagram.com/stewartdantec/ or

Episode 039 - Canadian Pride, Deconstructing Faith, & How To Avoid Burnout with Carey Nieuwhof
I know I have a lot of people who don’t see faith the same way I do and I love that. Today I introduce you to one of my most trusted and safe friends. Safe for wherever you are on your faith journey…
Carey Nieuwhof is a pastor from north of Toronto, Canada who is one of those I would send the most skeptical of doubters to.
Not because he will convince you not to be skeptical…
But because he will simply love you for you.
On today’s show Carey unpacks what it means to him to have Canadian pride, how he grew up in a post Christian environment and where he sees the deconstructing of American evangelicalism fitting into our story, and shares his story on burning out and helps us avoid those very same pitfalls…
You can find out more about Carey at https://careynieuwhof.com/ and you can follow him on socials @careynieuwhof
And no I’ve never been able to spell his name bu heart.

Episode 036 - How to coexists with PEOPLE YOU CAN’T STAND with Kirsten Powers…
Kirsten has spent her career as a political commentator on Fox News, CNN, and USA Today. She watched firsthand from in front of the camera as America spiraled towards chaos during the 2016 and 2020 elections. And today she helps us ALL realize how to get it BACK TOGETHER…
Kirsten offers a template for a different kind of America, one where we can engage with people who hold opposing views without sacrificing our values or our passionate beliefs in the causes we care about. It’s a culture that embraces repentance and repair, a process through which those who have caused harm can take responsibility and work toward righting the wrongs in which they have participated. It’s a place where we’re empowered to see the possibility in other people, even people who are driving us nuts.

Episode 035 - How does growing up our social media REALLY affect our kids? Guest Losiah Whittaker.
When we flew to Korea to pick up our 7 month old son in 2007, I took my camera and vlogged the entire thing. From the moment we picked up Losiah till today, at 15 years old, there has barely been a week he hasn’t been on camera.
Today Losiah jumps on the mic and all 15 years of his wisdom comes pouring out.
We cry. We laugh. We apologize. We learn.
From adoption to social media, to friendships, to racism…
Today Losiah takes us on a journey that I believe will change the way we see each other.

What’s that do to your soul when you are one of the good guys?
Travis was an incredible interview and I believe he will restore your faith in journalism again.

Episode 033 - How To Pray And What Happens When It Doesn't Work? with Heather Whittaker
This week on instagram I asked people if they needed prayer to leave a comment. I was fully expecting like 300 comments. I got over 5000 requests. While many people told me that it felt heavy, I reminded them that this is normal. People are suffering and in need of our prayers all around us.
So today we dive deep with the prayer warrior herself, my wife, Heather Whittaker. Heather has studied inner healing prayer for years and is basically my go-to when it comes to questions on prayer.
Do I need to pray a certain way?
What if God doesn’t answer our prayers?
How can I know if God heard me?
Am I wasting my time praying for something God won’t answer?
Yes, we go there.
So if you have ever had a question on prayer or how to pray or if your prayer was even worth it…
Today’s the episode for you…

Episode 032 - What’s it REALLY like as an undocumented worker in America? With actor Bambadjan Bamba.
We all have a bias towards what it means to be an “undocumented worker” in America. We think it’s cut and dry. We think it’s black and white. Well if that is what we think… Then I promise you we are not Walking With People… we are Standing On Issues.
In today's show, we have the honor of hearing from Bambadjan Bamba. An award-winning actor, filmmaker, and immigrant rights advocate. He has worked in prominent roles on numerous hit television shows like NBC’s The Good Place, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Amazon’s Bosch and in blockbuster films like Marvel’s Black Panther, DC comic’s Suicide Squad and Oscar-nominated film Beginners. In 2017 Bambadjan publicly disclosed that he was a recipient of the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) that is in danger of being terminated. Ever since Bambadjan has used his inspirational story to change the conversation around immigration.

Episode 031 - Why we need to abolish the death penalty with Stacy Rector
You guys know that I am a huge advocate for abolishing the death penalty. Many of you walked hand in hand with me as we watched Brandon Bernards failed last-second appeal last December and were all holding our breaths as he took his last.
Stacy Rector joins us today to talk about what we can do to see this broken system abolished.
And yes it’s broken.
People for and against the death penalty would ALL AGREE that the system is broken.
Stacy is the Executive Director of Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (TADP), an organization whose mission is to honor life by abolishing the death penalty. She also served as spiritual advisor to Steve Henley, an inmate on Tennessee’s death row who was executed on February 4, 2009.
Today’s topic is a tough one but I know you are up for it.
Thanks for tackling hard issues with me fam…
