A Millennial's Guide to Saving the World
I started this podcast because I was tired of being stereotyped as lazy, triggered and entitled. I wanted to give voice to a different kind of millennial and invite us to write a new story - one of a generation willing to challenge the status quo, embrace nuance and paradox, and reject PC-culture. This podcast isn’t about finding answers, it’s about asking the right questions. How can we reinvent ourselves and the narratives we’ve been expected to inherit? How can we take ownership over the ways we participate in our own suffering? How can we move beyond victimization and into empowerment? How can we fix ourselves to fix the world? It’s time for new dreams, new stories and new futures… anyakaats.substack.com

#40 Finding Beauty and Meaning in the Breakdown with Tarah Edmonds
On paper, it doesn't seem that Tarah and I have anything in common. She has 3 kids, she's over a decade older than me, she lives across the country and has had vastly different life experiences than me, and yet, we have an exceptional amount in common. From early childhood trauma, to health issues, to recognizing the importance of healing from the inside out as to not pass on our BS to the next generation, we couldn't be more alike. This episode is one of vulnerability, friendship, transition and creating community across superficial divides. Sasha is a writer, television producer, filmmaker, and editor whose writing on death, history, travel and ritual through a scientific lens have appeared in New York Magazine, O. the Oprah Magazine and elsewhere. She recently released her first book, For Small Creatures Such As We. Our conversation elaborates on the ambiguous space of finding ritual and meaning within a scientific world view. #36 You Can't Rush Your Healing: A Hero's Journey
When I launched this podcast a year ago, I knew that eventually, this story would need to be told. Today felt like the right day. I discuss "health" and my journey toward finding it in the most broad and comprehensive way possible. From physical health to emotional well-being to societal and cultural frameworks and the way they all intermingle, my goal with this episode is to create a safe space where we can broaden our understanding of "sickness" and heal together. #35 Gender, Feminism & Public/Private Space with Dylan Bandy
Dylan is a photographer, filmmaker and musician. She also hosts a podcast about sex, feminism and power with her mother (Sonya Lea, who was also on this show) called BITCHCONOCLAST. Dylan and I have an open-ended conversation about both of our favorite subjects, namely, gender, feminism, power, public/private space and considering all of them from a cross-cultural and cross-generational perspective. Dylan and I don't always agree, but our conversation showcases what in my opinion is exactly the kind of conversation we need to be having about these topics - nuanced, curious, self-reflective and respectful. Jason Holley is a psychologist and an astrologer. His approach focuses on the use of mythology, storytelling, art & astro-drama. Jason and I discuss how he uses these techniques in tandem with one another + we explore personality as a process instead of a disorder, discuss the limitations of traditional models of therapy and look at feminine/masculine + guru/disciple psychology through the lens of night/day. In other words, this was by far one of my favorite conversations on the podcast to date. #32 Farming & Agriculture as Holistic Tools to Save the Planet with Bill, Kelli & Cloe Parker
Farming, agriculture & human involvement in ecology are often vilified and cited as the source of environmental destruction. But is this the whole story? Can farming & agriculture actually be regenerative, holistic and even imperative in restoring the planet to a healthy state? In this episode I sit down with the family behind Parker Pastures to discuss everything from regenerative agriculture and holistic land management to myths around vegetarianism, fake meat & farting cows.
