Ugly American Werewolf in London: Mammoth with Wolfgang Van Halen Live Review

As huge Van Halen fans growing up, The Wolf & Action Jackson always took a keen interest in the career of Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth. Though The Wolf had seen Wolfgang on tour with Van Halen on bass near the end of their run, he'd missed opportunities to see Mammoth in the past. However, he remedied when they hit Louisville on the last night of their latest tour of the USA and boy was he treated to a killer show.Wolfgang Van Halen is front and center as the lead singer, lead guitarist and lead storyteller. He delighted in the fact that his band has received so much support for their first two albums (Mammoth WVH & Mammoth II) and entertained the crowd by pronouncing Louisville (Loo-a-vul) correctly, profusely (and profanely) thanking opening act Intervals and threw us a headfake with a few bars of an Oasis classic. The tight band ripped through songs off Mammoth II like Erase Me, Better Than You and Take A Bow while also breaking out the acoustic for Distance and kicking out his Dad Eddie's favorite Think It Over from the first record. He bends bluesy notes in some of his solos while working in some of that tapping that made Eddie a Rock God. It's no surprise they've earned opening gigs with Metallica and Foo Fighters as well as some top notch European festival spots. Seeing them in a club (The Mercury Ballroom) while they're on their way up was a fun night out and we highly recommend catching them if you can!Ugly American Werewolf in London WebsiteUgly American Werewolf in London Store - Get your Wolf merch and use code 10OFF2023 to save 10%!Visit our sponsor RareVinyl.com and use the code UGLY to save 10%!TwitterThreadsInstagramYouTubeLInkTreewww.pantheonpodcasts.com Learn more about your ad choices. Set Lusting Bruce - Sean Barrette - Heartstrings - First Guitars

Sean Barrette joins me to discuss his first book, Heartstrings – First Guitars, a collection of memories from a variety of musicians, famous, semi-famous, up and coming, anonymous, or otherwise, about the guitar they learned on, the first guitar they bought with their own money, the first “good” guitar they owned, or the beloved first-line guitar that accompanied them on first songs, first shows, first tours, or first recordings. There is a special link between a musician and his instrument and in his book, Sean collects stories of those first loves. Shout It Out Loudcast: "Dressed To Kill Tour"

This week Tom & Zeus review the 1975 KISS Dressed To Kill Tour. This is SIOL's 8th KISS tour reviewed. This was KISS' 4th tour and followed the Hotter Than Hell tour. It began as the Dressed To Kill album was released on March 19, 1975. The tour in support of KISS' third album featured new KISS classics, like C'mon And Love Me, She and of course, Rock And Roll All Nite. The band had still not broken through commercially, but was starting to take off live with its raw energy. KISS began as openers and eventually moved to headliners with opening acts like Rush. The stage was still in its infancy compared to what was to come in a few years. The costumes began similar to Hotter Than Hell and then morphed into what we see on the Alive tour and album cover. The setlist consisted of what would eventually become the ultimate classic live album, KISS Alive! As usual, the guys breakdown the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour. They then rank the costumes, stage, set list and overall tour against the previous 7 tours reviewed so far.So take a stroll down back to a time when KISS was hungry to take over and then stay for the rant at the end of the episode...For all things Shout It Out Loudcast check out our amazing website by clicking below: www.ShoutItOutLoudcast.com Interested in more Shout It Out Loudcast content? Care to help us out? Come join us on Patreon by clicking below: SIOL Patreon Get all your Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise by clicking below: Shout It Out Loudcast Merchandise at AMAZON Shop At Our Amazon Store by clicking below:Shout It Out Loudcast Amazon Store Please Email us comments or suggestions by clicking below:ShoutItOutLoudcast@Gmail.com Please subscribe to us and give us a 5 Star (Child) review on the following places below:iTunesPodchaserStitcheriHeart RadioSpotify  Please follow us and like our social media pages clicking below:TwitterFacebook PageFacebook Group Page Shout It Out LoudcastersInstagramYouTube Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast click below to see the website:Pantheon Podcast Network Learn more about your ad choices. Only Three Lads: Miki Berenyi from Lush - Top 5 Songs of 1986

1986 is undoubtedly one of the great years in music history, but one in which the chasm in alternative music grew. Especially for more established artists, 1986 represents the apex of the "BIG '80s" sound - glossy production, synth horns, Fairlights and DX-7s, gated snares, etc. Conversely, there was a new crop of guitar bands who eschewed these big budget sounds for concise, exuberant, noisy, scrappy pop music - brilliantly captured on NME's C86 cassette compilation.Discussing the songs of 1986 with us (and whose presence is certainly one of our biggest thrills to date) is Miki Berenyi from Lush, Piroshka, and The Miki Berenyi Trio! During their initial run from 1987 - 1996, Lush were one of the essential British bands of the era, releasing three seminal early EPs (collected on Gala) and three crucial albums that showcase the breadth of the band's formidable talents: 1992's Spooky, 1994's Split, and 1996's Lovelife (all on 4AD). Miki's recently released memoir, Fingers Crossed: How Music Saved Me From Success, is one of the most compelling and searingly honest books we have read. Often traumatic, often hilarious, Fingers Crossed peels back the layers of the public figure you thought you knew from the British weeklies to reveal a complex and gifted storyteller. The Miki Berenyi Trio is currently on a short tour of the US. Catch her if you can! The new track "Vertigo" is available on all streaming/digital platforms.Plus, there's a lot of swearing in both Hungarian and English. This one is definitely NSFW, kids.Special thanks to Paul Richison for the suggestion and introduction!Proudly part of the Pantheon Podcasts family. Learn more about your ad choices. And WHY?? – Part 5.1: '90s DIVERSITY or WhateverIn Part 5.1 of my history of albums, I go through the first half of the 1990s. This decade was the peak for albums – both in sales and in size. CDs quickly rose and sold more albums than any other format in history. And they allowed artists to balloon their albums from the decades-long standard of around 40 minutes, to 75 minutes or longer. Albums morphed in a way that would eventually obscure their importance as a standalone work of art. At the same time, some of history’s greatest albums were released in the 1990s.I take us through 1994, and show how the explosion of album releases and diversity gave us some of the most iconic music ever, but also started the fracturing that would come to define the music scene – and the world – in decades to come. What are your favorite albums from the first half of the 1990s? Do you remember how diverse music was becoming? Discuss dammit! BONUS MxTRA VIDEO: Women in 1990s music~~~*music credit: REC - "Sing Owwt"*mid roll music credit: The Drop - "Outerloper" Learn more about your ad choices.
