What Difference Does It Make: Lori Majewski Has A Lust For Lists
Lori Majewski is one of us, a true 80s music fan. Her career started with Lori sneaking into hotels and airports because she wanted to meet her favorite artists. She now rubs elbows with many of those same people.
Her book, Mad World: An Oral History of New Wave Artists and Songs That Defined the 1980s, celebrates the New Wave music phenomenon. You can hear her bring those stories to life every day on SiriusXM's 1st Wave. Her weekly feature, Lust For Lists, weaves together a playlist highlighting special events or themes from our favorite decade.
Lori now uses her super 80s music knowledge to share with us her thoughts on the music played on the World Famous KROQ in Los Angeles, as we take a look at the year 1988, and focus in on songs 70-61.

My Rock Moment: Unplugged: Fred Mollin on Producing Hits, Scoring TV & Film, and the Moments that Shaped Him
Fred Mollin has done it all—from scoring film & cult TV classics to producing chart-topping ballads and lullabies for Disney. But behind his long list of credits is a winding, wild journey through the music industry that’s anything but ordinary.
In this episode, Fred joins My Rock Moment to talk about his new memoir Unplugged and the moments that defined his career. He shares stories of leaving school at 16 to chase music, auditioning for John Hammond, producing Dan Hill’s “Sometimes When We Touch” (and seeing none of the royalties), and the time that Clive Davis dropped the mic and the phone call on Fred.
You'll also hear about Fred’s work with Jimmy Webb and Kris Kristofferson, the unexpected magic of his Disney Lullabies series, and a hilarious prank on Rod Stewart that did not land the way he’d hoped.
It’s a candid, funny, and deeply human conversation with one of music’s great behind-the-scenes storytellers.

Shout It Out Loudcast: Album Review Crew "Among The Living"
On the 66th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, Shout It Out Loudcast Hall Of Famer, Nige Savage , review the 1987 classic thrash album from Anthrax, "Among The Living."
Anthrax is considered to be part of the Big 4 of Thrash, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. Their classic lineup which was on Among The Living, consisted of drummer extraordinaire, Charlie Benante, who amazingly wrote most of their guitar riffs, rhythm guitarist Scott Ian who wrote most of their lyrics bassist Frank Bello, who was Charlie's nephew, lead guitarist Dan Spitz and lead singer Joey Belladonna.
The band was looking to get to the next level and enlisted legendary producer Eddie Kramer to get their 3rd album just right. The album made it to Number 62 on the Billboard Charts and went gold.
Among The Living was a breakthrough for the band and is considered their best album by many. The album featured many classic Anthrax songs like, I Am The Law, Indians, Caught In A Mosh and more.
As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew.

Only Three Lads: The Man Who Revolutionized the Modern Playlist, Nick Holmstén
Not to toot our own horns (so to speak), it's the undisputed truth that we've had incredible guests on O3L in the past. Our growing roster of "Third Lads" has collectively touched millions of lives. But is there any single person who has changed the very fabric of the music industry as indelibly as this week's Third Lad? Because this week we chat with Nick Holmstén, the man who revolutionized the modern playlist. In that spirit, we are going to "be your algorithm" and give you a wildly eclectic list of songs that you need to stream...RIGHT NOW! Well, OK, wait til after the podcast is done. Priorities, friends!
With three decades of diverse experience in the entertainment industry, Holmstén’s transformation from a thriving artist, producer, and songwriter into a pioneering leader in the realms of music and technology showcases his dynamic career progression.
His tenure as the Global Head of Music at Spotify is a testament to his significant impact on the digital music sphere. This role followed the strategic acquisition of his company, Tunigo, by Spotify in 2013, highlighting Spotify’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of the music discovery. He was instrumental in transforming Spotify into a global music powerhouse, introducing the modern playlist that revolutionized the way artists release music and reinvented how fans discover new music, thereby expanding the global reach of music artists.
He also established TSX Entertainment, a groundbreaking entertainment company based in Times Square, with the TSX Stage and the TSX Billboard becoming significant cultural icons. The debut performance on the stage by Post Malone earned Six Clio Awards in 2023.
Nick Holmstén’s journey is recounted in the book Fan Powered Futures, a compelling tale of passion, vision, and innovative spirit shaping the entertainment industry. His groundbreaking work in music, technology, and hospitality inspires a new generation of entrepreneurs, artists, and visionaries, cementing his role as a key figure in the evolution of modern entertainment.
